So far this just makes me feel guilty.

I didn't realize the dual blades set was powerful. I liked dual blades from City of Heroes -- it was fun and looked fantastic. And I discovered that you could get a nightstick costume item that would make it look like your character was wielding two billy clubs (though the sound effect stayed the same). This, I thought, was AWESOME.

So I decided to make Curveball a dual-blades wielder using two nightsticks. A shame there's no tonfa model, but still. A punk rocker wielding two clubs was pretty neat.

Then I noticed that DB has a power that essentially sets up a damage shield that increases the longer you use it. And I thought "hey, I bet that would work really well with defiance." So I chose Defiance as my passive and Eye of the Storm.

... and now I feel kind of guilty. It's sick. I don't think he's doing as much damage as he could be doing, but Good Lord, he kills fast and he's ridiculously durable. If he's in trouble he starts Eye of the Storm. By the time he runs out of energy and has to switch to his energy builder, he's recovered enough to refill his bar and then he can start Eye of the Storm again.

I'm sure at some point this is going to come crashing down around my head, and I'll run into some enemy that not only laughs at me, but tosses me about like a rag doll while he does it. For the moment, though, I feel kind of embarrassed that this is working so well.

I was @Curveball in City of Heroes.

    No No...

You are hitting it pretty much on the head. Dual Blades is absolutely unstoppable.

If you are stat speced correctly, you pretty much will never have a problem, ever...

    Dex/Con/???

You can pretty much do whatever you want.

Just remember this, when you are out killing things in your sleep, remember there are 1000 other guys doing the same thing, with the same power. If you don't care so much about being different then more power to you.

Don't fret about it. XD Eye of the Storm is a nice power for sure, but it's not the only one. There are plenty of powers that perform just as well or better (though not for the exact same functions).

No need to feel guilt over using a good power! It's no worse than using Bountiful Chi Resurgence, Pulse Beam Rifle, or Smoke Grenade. Every power has its place!
Dasher@Tool-box, donning his armor to prance into battle and blitz the enemy! No joke!
Cupid@Tool-box, stunningly radiant stag ready to play matchmaker between villain and arrow!
Vixon@Tool-box, frighteningly eager to summon despair for his adversaries!
Jebin Zedalu@Tool-box, elementalist weaponmaster. ...One of these things is not like the others!

Yeah, I just rolled a Dual Blades this week and she is a machine. And I don't even have Eye of the Storm yet. I love her.

What are you doing for SuperStats? Mine are Dex/Con/Rec, but this is my first freeform character and I'm not sure what the best choices are.

You can manage to run out of energy with Eye of the Storm ? And with defiance added to that ?

It is a great combo :D

Don't feel guilty or anything; you layered one defensive ability on top of another defensive ability and became really tough. That's pretty much WAI. I don't know that you'll run into any particular enemy that will stomp that tactic flat, but EotS is not the most damaging power around, and leveling tends to dilute how awesome individual powers are (Gatling Gun at level 8 is incredible, Gatling Gun at level 40 is still pretty cool but not mind-boggling). And that's fine, since your bag of tricks will be deeper by the time you get there.

And of course, somebody with an offensive passive/role and using Sword Cyclone instead of EotS would go through those same spawns three times as fast, which is pretty awesome in its own way. There are still tradeoffs, but you don't have to trade away everything to get something good.

I'm reminded of when I first go a toon with Pestilence . . . yikes!
It's a nasty, close-area, high-damage maintain. Uses fairly low energy, and it moves with you!
It is really awesome, but there are plenty of awesome powers out there, like others said.

Eventually, I got sick of using the same power with the same tactics in nearly every fight.
