Targeting- anything except that which is right in front of me

I know I'm not the only person who has experienced this. And I experience it constantly. On melee characters, on ranged characters, it doesn't matter. There is a very glaring blind spot in the tab targeting, auto-targeting interface which exists right in front of your characters face. When you're toe-to-toe with the villain and manage to get off target, God help you, because the tab button sure as hell won't.

What's worse is that this also prevents the "melee can ignore selected target" function from working, which is vital to melee. The mob directly in front of you becomes invisible essentially, unless you can manage to click it with your mouse (difficult, and doesn't always work) or reposition yourself (often the best choice, but sometimes a melee mob will follow you, staying right in that blind spot).

Targeting in MMOs is always spotty. I know this. But it seems just a wee bit worse here than in other games. It's certainly an area that can be improved upon substantially.

The melee can ignore selected targets, and tab targeting from center screen out are great ideas, but they are kept from working properly due to this blind spot.

I understand how you would come to feel this way, but you should be able to adjust things in the options to improve it for yourself. Turn off "target threatening enemies first." I remember feeling frustrated with "target nearest in camera center" and I find "target nearest" works much better for me.

I know no one likes to be told that it is a problem with their settings, and not with the game, but look at it this way, at least that means you can just take some time to fix it now and never be concerned with it again instead of waiting for the devs to do something.

I have this problem occur even with target nearest. I actually changed away from target nearest within camera center some time ago due to it working so poorly.

I'll certainly try turning off 'threatening first' but when I'm set to target nearest, de-select my target, and hit tab, and it ignores the mob standing right directly toe-to-toe with me I do not believe this is a setting issue.

Ah, I am familiar with that apparently ludicrous behavior. Try setting "Reset Inactive Tab Target" to "On."

You can also make a key specifically for targetting the nearest enemy, just type this in chat:

    /bind n target_enemy_near

in this example I choose the "n" key, but really you could use anything of course.

You mean people still play with FPS controls enabled? How do you get by?! Click or Tab targeting might be convenient in less action-oriented games, but FPS controls are so friggin' convenient in Champions. I just look at what I want to kill and proceed to kill it. No clicking, no tabbing.

Adjusting the distance that you can target helps, too.

Hey thanks! I tried a lot of configs. That sure will improve also the same problem I had myself.

(I'm still attempting to find the right config to do the whole WASD moves while doing my hits on the left mouse button and very ocasionally just change # of powers as if shuffling trough armement set. I guess everyone found out that one up, so I hope to find that one up soon in the forum because I end up ramming into the villiains I try to evade by pressing W instead of S when I'm on secondary power and even get caught straffing on Q and E too often with undesired effects. I'm afraid, I tried to look if I could get away with the Binding section... I guess in vain for the moment.)

I admit in Star Trek Online I have the same problems... Except in the space section! Piloting a space ship on-line seems to work with it. Errr jumping repetitively over the WASD for constant hits while having to move around a character kinda just works finger muscles.

Yeah, I like a certain degree of automation in my characters - as if they're a bit alive themselves, and I'm giving them sort of more high level commands. e.g. I like it if "follow" allows a melee toon to semi-lock-on to a target, and I like having EB on a toggle, etc., etc. Of course if others want more fine control, then that's good too. Redundancy and customizability are the name of the game in MMOs, in terms of both controls and UI.

They should make use of a function i used in CoH/V i had TAB select the next closest enemy, then the next etc (like normal) But then i bound my 'C' key to a Target Closest bind, meaning instead of tabbing and tabbing, my C key would ONLY target the closest enemy and not cycle through. I could repeatedly press C to target the closest enemy, and should another enemy be slightly closer to me, that one would become my new target.

That command should be implemented here, so for example you would have 2 buttons:

Bind 1; Target Next Closest enemy. (TAB)
Bind 2; Target Closest enemy Only. (new key command)

There is a target nearest foe, unfortunately its just as borked as the rest of targetting.

Target nearest from center of camera needs to be changed to nearest from FOV.

It does indeed target nearest from camera center, but your camera center is generally pointed at a slight down angle so it's mentally misleading.
