Best way to fix PvP, is have some sort of AI where the CPU mirrors and use the same builds that are used in PvP. Each week the CPU keeps track of the best builds at different tiers, and then has those builds and playstyle become NPC bosses.
Like having a solo mission where the cpu does nothing but heal itself and TP if less then 40% health. Or where a boss does electrocute followed by set up for EBB spam. It would also be great to see chain hold spams and such. One of the bigger balance issues is that the AI for pve sucks.
The problem is that even the powers that suck can breeze through PvE, giving a poor value of what that power does for PvP. Give the AI the exact same builds as PvP player and you would see balance after about 2 weeks.

I'm happy to say that the Champs website will see an update soon. That update will include a calendar of future updates as well as some navigation and visual improvements. Yay!
Another Ask Cryptic is being worked on. Make sure you visit the forums and put your question in.
Thanks to everyone who came out to play on Friday for the Dev Event! We had a great time, so I hope you had fun too. The next one is slated for Thursday, May 20, 2010 and will be oriented around early-tier PvP. Mark your calendars and come beat us up! You have been double-dog dared!
From the front page, by Rekham on May 3rd. All ye PvPrs need to reroll 5 man teams in T2.
There is little point to having a level 40 character for PvP reasons if they have no interest in helping the popualtion. T1/T2/T3 do not suffer from lack of queue's like T4 does. This is BS.
Yes, because I'm going to make a T2 alt to play with the devs because they're afraid of everyone in T4 spam electrocuting them to be mean.
I'm not saying that isn't what we'd do, I'm just saying I don't think they're going to find T2 any more merciful these days.
We're doing this event in Tier 2 because all of the most recent in-game "Play with Devs" events have been for level 35+ characters. Not everyone has a character who can join us for tier 4 PvP, so we're going to do a tier 2 event. Later on down the line, we'll probably do a tier 3 event, and I assure you, we will be doing more T4 events in the future as well.

T3 Arena does have significant queue issues. When I've played recently, I think it's been easier to get in a T4 Stronghold match.

^This. I like T3 myself, but it's hard to get into a match.
And T2 is only as popular as it is due to not having the plethora of balance issues that exist in higher level arena's, as well as being super-easy to reroll for, re-spec for, and re-gear for.

So question, how many devs are there?
I imagine ther are at least 10, so hwy not 5 in the lowest tier and 5 in the highest?
That way it doesnt feel like you are alienating parts of your community.

T2 has plenty of balance problems, they're just different. In T2, balance problems are about overpowered single powers or small combos which people don't have the power points to spec for resisting; in T4, balance problems are about large overpowered combos that try to overcome defensive abilities.
This does not mean a dev T2 game is bad. It's good.

In T3 or T4, I have access to combo's that will kill someone. Period. No chance of counter.
T2 lacks this. Sure, there are some annoying powers I would love to see nerfed - but T2 has the smallest list of powers I feel need a nerf.
With that said, I agree. A dev T2 game is very good. Devs also need to do a T3 night too imo.

SImply put, no matter what tier we queue for, there are more people that want to play against us, then there are developers to go around. By concentrating all of our efforts into one level range, everyone who has a character in that tier has a better chance to run across a team of devs.

We'll be doing a tier 3 night at some point as well, and we'll also be returning to tier 4. The last few events have all been for high level players. We still have people who have not reached level 40 on even one character, so, this is a good opportunity to play with them as well.
Additionally, with several weeks notice, players who have tier 4 characters have plenty of time to level a hero into tier 2 so they can participate.
We're doing our best to spend as much time as possible with all of our fans. Not just the low level ones, and not just the high level ones either.
I don't normally post in here. I don't normally reply to necro-posts, but I thought I might take a momment to point out a few details.
1. Everytime PvP gets a "Dev","CR", or "Anybody from Cryptic" they make some thread, promise the world, gather feedback, and NEVER COME BACK.
2. Cryptic will never see the benefits of any resource allocation of any kind to CO's PvP System. Mostly that had they put the work into the Queues back in 2009 that Alerts and other Queue Mechanics on CO(and NW) would work much much better.
3. CO's bizarre playerbase divide betweeen PvE, PvP, and RP is one thing in this game I have never fully understood. As an old school MMOer we used to do all of these things. It was called "playing the game."
4. Anytime anything is even remotely mentioned which would repair/balance this game the Anti-PvP Crowd will claim that you all are ruining/destroying/gimping their game. Despite taking into consideration that if it's broken in PvP then odds are fairly certain that it's also broken in PvE but that mobs don't complain. The actual reason that most things like this are mentioned by PvPers is that most PvPers will put in the time/effort/math on PTS to work out things to gain that extra edge. Most Pure PvEers just take stuff and steamroll content easy-mode. There are, of course, exceptions to these 2 points but I believe them to be correct for the most part.
5. To reply specifically to Sterg. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but...it's not gonna happen. Embrace what you have. Do what you can. Expect NOTHING because that's what's coming. The PvP in CO was always mostly low priority to the majority of the playerbase(for multiple reasons and not just a lack of interest like some Devs would like you to believe) but PvP did not die. It was MURDERED.....intentionally. I would be astonished if anything was ever done to reverse this decision. Sorry.

Now there a contradiction
Lol good pickup.
But yeh we need someone, i think they should just make rose a GM and actually listen when he says something.

Maybe some elecform giga spammers for minibosses, or some seraphim FC users.
Brilliant!!!
Jeshu@crazyguy is fat and has body odor!
Do what you must..
The spreadsheets have proven that Mighty Leap does too much damage.
I really did hate those imbue+mighty leap combos they one shot me through dodge+block, 6 stacks of defiant and unbreakable!
Discuss?
They fear the melee lockdown cc spam!
Bull! Who said that? I don't like whoever did! Look at my sig! they better make it T4!

Then why not do T4 on the PTS again?

By only playing in one tier, it certainly seems to me that they are alienating parts of their community for certain.
And I'm pretty certain it's only been one tier to date.
Hypocrite much?
