I managed to get my main to lvl 19 this weekend. I went to Canada and am still in MC but I have to tell you, the random drops from mobs are EXTREMELY low. So low in fact I could complete a mission and not have any of the mobs drop anything more than their required mission required items. And when something did drop its almost always a yellow or white item.
In my 19 levels and killing I don't know how many mobs I have defeated but I have yet to get a SINGLE blue anything from anywhere and only got a single green random drop......O N E. Everything else has been either white or yellow. Now either I am just the unluckiest sap in the game or something is not working correctly.
As an example I just barely killed Medusa and was used to her always dropping a decent green/blue but this time.......zippo, nada. No drop and I even tried again. NOTHING.
Even the given mission rewards are sub par compared with just a few weeks ago in CB. I get a new mission reward item and about the only difference in the lvl 15 item I had and the lvl 18 item I got was def / off went from a 1.5 to a 1.7 in both. OHHHHHHHH. COME ON.
And power replacers as rewards???? I have gotten more useless power replacers from mision rewards and random drops than actual rewards I want to use. Why do many missions ONLY offer a power replacer as a reward? You have TOOO MANY power replacers everywhere from mission rewards, to perks to crafting. It's out of control and I just don't see the need to have it sewn into EVERY aspect of the game.
At the VERY least though could you please please PLEASE give us an option to choose a mission reward and not simply be stuck with the same power replacer?
lastly PvP rewards........you want me to earn a butt load of acclaim to spend it on an item that is no better than a mission reward item? (except maybe some extra PRE) Maybe this changes later but the lvl 11- 15 minor items had EXACTLY the same stat distribution as mission items.
YEEEH.
As I said I am completely underwhelmed with item drops / mission rewards
As an example I just barely killed Medusa and was used to her always dropping a decent green/blue but this time.......zippo, nada. No drop and I even tried again. NOTHING.
It would be nice if super-villains ever dropped... anything. One of the nicer features in CoX was that every time you killed an AV, you were guaranteed a level-appropriate drop from the higher rarity tier. I don't recall even getting a worthless white from a super-villain here.
(Maybe not for the few roaming around in the world, since that would encourage people to camp-farm them, but at least for the instanced ones?)
The PvP rewards might be intended to be equal to mission rewards, to make an alternate progression path. But I don't PvP at all so I couldn't tell you much about it.
Didn't Super Villains used to always drop an item? They haven't lately, but I thought they did when I first got into beta with a Gamerzine key. Menton and his brute in Stronghold still gave me a blue each today, but I got nothing from fighting the four master villains in the cell blocks above.
An option to take something, anything, other than a power replacer for a set I don't have would be nice. Items, consumables, crafting components, cash, whatever.
I was wondering about this recently. It really feels like the the item drops have been tuned down or something. I haven't found as many parts for crafting as I did in beta (though in beta I was mysticism, and now I'm arms which may have something to do with it). There just hasn't been much loot dropping. In beta by the time I got this far I had 3 bag slots and was still full running around with stuff (granted most of it sucked). Right now I have 1 bag, and I have never had my inventory full.

As much as I would like to think so you simply cannot PvP your way through the game. You get way too little EXP out of it and would take about 3-4 times as long.
The thing though is I PvPed on and off for about 4-5 hrs total this weekend (some cage matches took upwards of 30 mins to complete  ), played in about 20 or so matches and came out with roughly 2,000 acclaim. That is just barely enough to purchase a single primary item. So if it was an alternative item path I should be getting either the acclaim needed (I won most of my matches btw) or the pricing needs to be cheaper.
The fact that you have to earn and then spend acclaim means that PvP rewards should be at least a LITTLE better than normal rewards imho. Have them be greens or blues, something.

But come to think of it I don't recall ANY Super Villain dropping anything worth mentioning. If they did drop something (which was rare as always) it was a white or yellow item.

I completely agree. I had so few drops this weekend that I didn't have a need to even craft a second bag until about lvl 15. I guess this is a good thing because I was able to skip the 6 and 8 slot bags.

As I said I am completely underwhelmed with item drops / mission rewards
I agree with these two posts on these points. Loot is underwhelming to say the least.
the item drops are exactly the same as they were in Closed Beta, nothing has changed on that data.
Every super villain is supposed to have good quality rewards from either the villain or their associated mission. If you find any that don't have one, /bug it. As has been noted, in most cases that won't be a drop so you can't just farm them as they respawn, it is generally a mission completion reward.

We still have a few bugs that are harder to duplicate the frustrating part is some occur for one of your toons consistently.. So Teh Battle Ends and you search the area.. nothings that's my main concern.
I have noted the item Gigavolt did drop.. also shows up as a reward His Gauntlets.. kinda like a make up situation.. So is this really a matter of either or? To have the immediate on the spot reward being the larger Mission reward is nice ..to prevent boss farming you have to consider if one of your 8 toons gets a vault item does this mean the following toons do not ?

Just to get this straight, every "Super" villan drops something? Is "Super" a spcefic tag, and the only tag that this is supposed to happen with? What about "Master" villans?

The main issue, I think, is that drops are underwhelming. And if that is the pointy, I fully agree.
I think a decimal point got shuffled around somewhere. >.> Mob resource rewards are pitiful, respec costs are outrageous and the UI lost all the good innate characteristics (unrelated, I know).
In good news, insight rewards are awesome now! So... Please take a look at the loot and resource drop tables?
the item drops are exactly the same as they were in Closed Beta, nothing has changed on that data.
VIPER Anaconda Tanks used to have a guaranteed drop right up to the end of Closed Beta, now they have what feels like the drop rate of a normal henchman. Does this fall under the Fix to stop drop exploitation?

So what are we supposed to farm for gear then? Nothing until level 40 when we can do UNITY stuff?

Except for the fact you added in a butt load of power replacers during OB so something did indeed change.
And if the other posters in this thread are any indicator there is definitely something amiss with the data.
I leveled a toon to 40 after the CB wipe a few months back and did the exact same progression with him this weekend and am getting far less drops than I did before. Not to mention of lesser rarity in general. In CB I was getting predominantly random drops in the yellow range with the infrequent green / white and occasional blue.
While this is hardly scientific I felt I was getting maybe one drop every 20 mobs I killed but now it feels more like 30-40. So almost half what I was expecting.
And none of the SV mobs (save Black Talon) dropped ANYTHING for me this weekend. Considering how many SVs I killed thus far I'm not really interested in bugging ALL of them. This added to the fact that drop rate feels low tells me the problem is more systemic and something has indeed happened with the "data".
Plus you added the power replacers to mission rewards which was ANOTHER data change. My only reward for completing a mission should not be a SINGLE power replacer that I most likely will not use. Again there are too many to just bug and this is something best posted here imho and let you Devs sort it out. Sorry but I'm now on the "pay to play" plan and don't want to spend all of my time creating bug reports, hope you understand.

Then you need to go back and look at loot tables because uber boss drops are only slightly less rare than random idiots in the field drops. Only Black Talon dropped loot. ONLY.
Hell, I forget this game HAS loot drops until I get one unrelated to a quest, once every several hours.
I'm not convinced that the drop rate shouldn't be higher than it currently is. At this point I observe that most of my items come from turning in missions and not as items I find in the field.

Yes, those were completely broken and had a massively overpowered drop on them that was farmable.

The "uber boss drops" are on bosses in Lairs. Super villains that a mission chain sends you to fight you get your reward from the mission chain.

this just seems weird to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but it felt like I was collecting from more people then this during beta. I haven't been getting anything from a mob at all that wasn't a mission drop. I could swear that I would randomly get stuff before from a random mob. Thats just not happening for me now.

At level 19 they should be yellows. The gear curve is whites in roughly the 1-10 range, yellows in the 11-25 range and greens in the 26-40 range. Blues come from Lair bosses, Legendaries, ends of hard mission chains, and the very rare random drop. Purples come from end game content.
Who? You need to tell me the name of the guy who isn't dropping stuff, just naming an instance means I have no idea what person inside it you are trying to give a report on.
I don't know about DeadlyShoe, but when I did the Robot Factory last night, neither the Doctor Destroyer robot nor the giant robot dropped anything except the mission item.
I do feel a bit disapointed by boss drops, for example taking out ASCII Oakeley and getting a named item, but one with only so-so benefits to it. Of course the tradeoff is that there are very good mission rewards, which you can pick the specific one that benefits your prefered stat build.
I think my suggestion would be to give more "interesting" abilities to drops, looting a "+4 EGO +5 STR" item is generally "meh", especially when it's the same or maybe 1 point higher than a comperable mission reward, but looting somethign that gives you a unique temporary fire resist, or a low damage attack, or just something special, whether it's particularly useful or not is still more fun.
I mean, just last night I picked the Gadroon Force Tech over the other rewards for that mission, even though it's effects listed seemed a bit less powerful than the alternatives, just because it sounded nifty, and I remembered that it gives you cool energy shields while it's active (BTW, you really should highlight in the description when an item gives you as unique graphical effect, like Burnside Vengence).
In other words, you don't need to make them uber powerful, but at least make them fancy.
Who? You need to tell me the name of the guy who isn't dropping stuff, just naming an instance means I have no idea what person inside it you are trying to give a report on.
Sorry; I meant Dr Destroyer and the Mega Destroyer. Neither drop loot, and there was no 'win loot' for the mission ala Public Quests. For clarification, we had a 27, a 26, a 17 (me) and an 11. The 17 and 11 were SKd to the 27. Noone got boss loot except for the 27, who got the mission loot (robot head?).
(Or if they did they didn't say anything. Our team settings were Round Robin loot. But I didn't see any faded !s, and I did specifically ask since I had the same problem in the Beta.)
I had submitted a bug report on this issue in the Beta, it should be in the DB somewhere. Had the same problem when I ran the mission with 5 40s.
The only place drops happen at a realistic rate is the tutorial area, and there it is the same 3 items.
I'm sure the drop tables are screwed up outside of the tutorial.
Also, this game seriously needs an official itemcyclopedia. Not the least because of the ridiculously low drop rate and poorly designed item text (I'm looking at you Qulaar pistol)
The drops are difinitely much lower than in OB... On the other hand, you can still progress with your crafting and character, but it removes a lot of the incentive to plow through the henchmen, and you find yourself short-cutting to the quest target of villains...
I'm not convinced that the drop rate shouldn't be higher than it currently is. At this point I observe that most of my items come from turning in missions and not as items I find in the field.
Hah!!!! I was right. From todays state of the game.
WE WANT MORE UPGRADES, AND WE WANT THEM NOW!
We found and fixed an error in the overall drop-rate tables that drastically reduced the number of upgrades coming from defeated enemies. This change increases the number of upgrades that drop from enemies in the approximately four-fold.
hahahaha love to see that we were all correct ... loved being lied to ! thanks again!

Ok, so I havent gotten a single green/blue or whatever item to drop, suddenly trash mob A in the prison area of millenium city drops a purple item. Colossal arm of barring or something. Idk. I can't even find anywhere on the nets that says what purple even means as far as rarity.

Purple is unique ..
You can get taht info from the Auction shop and there is an NPC that brings up rarity but name and location escapes me
White Very Common
Yellow - Common
Green - Uncommon
Blue - Rare
Purple - Unique
I assume you only have to worry about Uniques on Secondary Slots, as they aren't able to have two of the same equeipped. But don't quote me on it
Please note you can find the sme item on different rarities.
Rarities affect the loot you get from salvage/breaking them apart
Whites won't give much to a higher skilled cahracter, however a Purple 'should' be 5 Star msot if not all the way up
Ok I'm probably going to kick myself for saying this but... I agree, I think loot drops are very underwhelming.
Now, let me just say this. I've never been a power gamer, a grinder, etc. I actually don't enjoy grinding for anything usually let alone loot. However. Neither do I like being shoehorned into only doing quests for rewards to get loot. I like having options. They don't HAVE to be uniques or very rares etc but I will agree that loot drops NEED to occur more often. Some days, I really don't have much time to play and so I just want to grind some mobs and maybe get some decent loot for crafting if not for use. Heck, even if the mobs just dropped basic crafting resources regularly and I had to spend time converting them, that would be better than no drops at all.
Believe me, I understand wanting to curtail farming. And I AM grateful for that. That means when I have time to do the quest, there's a decent chance the mob i have to kill will be around. But In many other MMOs I've played, if you make regular loot drops mildly enticing, not everyone is going to be trying to farm the bosses. Please don't kill me for saying this but at one point, Lotro had a very nice system set up. I could go into say, Goblin Town and slaughter goblins for what amounted to vendor trash. you'd never wear the stuff and it wasn't worth all that much but you could cover repairs and make a profit from the work. And it was extremely, extremely rare, occasional a nice world drop would happen. It might take you six weeks of grinding goblins but you might one day get lucky and get that dragon earring everyone wanted. (Nowadays it might be a 2nd age legendary item).
The point is, I'm not even asking for normal mobs in this game to drop really valuable stuff, nor am I asking the bosses too. I just would like to see vendor trash at least be a somewhat common drop so it feels like I'm getting at least a mediocre reward for when I can't/don't want to be questing.
At the beginning the low amount of drops felt underwhelming to me too. I think after the patch it is about right though. I even picked up a random mission in Millenium City two levels above and walked away with a bag filled with some items I am still too low level for.
not for me i made a new character yesterday and before i left the start zone i had all my equipment slots full and some extra in my pack by the time i hit lvl 11 my bag was full. but then some say i have realy good loot odds in just about every mmo i ever played

it would be nice if the rewards from missions were more of an upgrade than the item that is 3-4 levels old.

there is room for improvement and i am sure they will improve it

I mean, just last night I picked the Gadroon Force Tech over the other rewards for that mission, even though it's effects listed seemed a bit less powerful than the alternatives, just because it sounded nifty, and I remembered that it gives you cool energy shields while it's active (BTW, you really should highlight in the description when an item gives you as unique graphical effect, like Burnside Vengence).
In other words, you don't need to make them uber powerful, but at least make them fancy.
I'm sure the drop tables are screwed up outside of the tutorial.
Also, this game seriously needs an official itemcyclopedia. Not the least because of the ridiculously low drop rate and poorly designed item text (I'm looking at you Qulaar pistol)
Hah!!!! I was right. From todays state of the game.
The drop rate was to low by a factor of 4.

I was just going to post this
So it would seem that indeed the data was wrong
We found and fixed an error in the overall drop-rate tables that drastically reduced the number of upgrades coming from defeated enemies. This change increases the number of upgrades that drop from enemies in the approximately four-fold.
Whites won't give much to a higher skilled cahracter, however a Purple 'should' be 5 Star msot if not all the way up
Now, let me just say this.
