Toku Hero Build

cheelanghocheelangho Posts: 95 Arc User
Hi, its been a long while since ive played this game or posted on the forums, last year i managed to grab the free FF slot and since DNT is on i thought it would be a good time to try a concept ive been wanting to play for a while

The idea is to make a Kamen Rider homage, currently running an infernal build for leveling so it will be retconned when it hits lv 40

I was thinking on going on a melee build DEX/Rec/Con, featuring Bullet Ballet along some Unarmed and/or Single/Dual blades moves; but honestly its been so long since i played i honestly have no idea on what to do, can i have some suggestions please? thanks

Okay, well I guess I'll make it a Bullet Ballet-focused build, w/ some MA thrown in:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Melee Damage)
    v3.45:38

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Chiller (Dex: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 8, End: 10)
    Level 6: Impresario (Dex: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 15: Accurate (Dex: 5, End: 5)
    Level 18: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Gunslinger
Level 1: Burst Shot (Taking Names)
    Level 6: Killer Instinct
Level 8: Form of the Tempest
    Level 11: Unstoppable (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 14: Bullet Ballet (Rank 2, Not Without Incident)
    Level 17: Resurgence (Rank 2)
Level 20: Lead Tempest (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 23: Dragon Kick (Rank 2, Dragon Rush)
Level 26: Holdout Shot (Stim Pack)
    Level 29: Parry (Rank 2)
Level 32: Strike Down (Nailed to the Ground)
    Level 35:
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 27/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Dexterity: Combat Training (3/3)
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (2/3)
    Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
    Dexterity: Expose Weakness (2/2)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (2/3)
    Warden: Slaughter (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (3/3)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

The last 2-3 powers can be w/e ya want.

Taps of Burst Shot can apply/refresh Furious and the AP debuff, while Bullet Ballet is your main attack. You can also throw charged Dragon Kick in there for Rush's energy and for an AoE stun, while Lead Tempest can help you deal with mobs that are more scattered. You could also trade Dex Mastery for Warden Mastery here, if desired. Gears mostly for Dex, w/ some Rec and Con (and some cost discount on gear).

Hi! I feel the pain of wanting to do a homage.

To help out, recently with the Sentai Lockbox I started a thread that would be right up your alley with lots of builds on there.

    https://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/championsonline#/discussion/1217502/weirdness-build-request-super-sentai

Most are DPS with a Tank or two in there, and lots of craziness going on. Which Rider were you wanting to pay homage to out of the that long, long legacy? Seems like you're going for one of the Heisei or Reiwa era with Bullet Ballet.

Thanks for the responses, as for which Rider im basing my character on, i very very recently got into tokusatsu and im unfamiliar with japanese eras (?), practically ran into some of the older series from early 2000 through a free streaming site in spanish; now my toon's backstory/concept is inspired by Rider G3 from Kamen Rider Agito series in the sense he's the test pilot for a power armor for the police

Been browsing the builds on the thread bladeddragon80 posted, all of them are great, but i'll probably end up using Flow's build since its really close to what i want - and much more efficient compared to what i had in mind:

Well, that build doesn't have most of its powers/advs filled out, but the one's listed could still be fine as a start (Shredded wouldn't buff Bullet Ballet's dmg, so you'd still prob want a source for Armor Piercing in there). Good luck w/ the build, either way.

@cheelangho Nice one! Hm. As ideas depending upon how closely you want to emulate G3, you might try the different Munitions than sticking straight up to pistols to emulate the arsenal. It's fine to use in up close use.

Aesthetics get tricky, however, as you would have to pick between the knife or the baton for what your character uses. The rest is pretty much pulling stuff out and using it.

I'll leave build stuff up to flowcyto. He's the master of it.

flowcyto will probably pop up on it, but seriously don't do WotW with as many ranged powers as you have. Night Avenger is better in this case.

I think he'll be better to point out flaws/ideas on this build. It's a tough one wanting to do both melee and ranged.

I guess I'll just speak broadly, since there's many variants here. Keep in mind that R1 Masterful Dodge no longer puts you past 100% dodge by itself. I'd prob just use Resurgence instead, but you could do fine w/ BCR/RR and MD ranked enough to get you past 100% dodge when used passively (prob will be R2 MD w/ R3 NW or WotW). And this is w/o having to rely on something like Deflect's adv, which takes some upkeep and will lower your dmg. I also don't think that you'd need >1 source of Rush in a build, and you'd likely still want Burst Shot w/ Furious adv when using Bullet Ballet (and its special adv). Some of these builds also seem to have a bit of extra redundancy in their attacks, but I'm not sure on how they all would be used. I also prob wouldn't get a R1 AO generally, unless you've run out of ideas for an empty power slot.
flowcyto will probably pop up on it, but seriously don't do WotW with as many ranged powers as you have. Night Avenger is better in this case. (...)
Eh, although NW is fine (esp if you want Sneak), WotW and Unstoppable can be very nice here. They still offer a pretty significant boost to non-melee dmg, and the majority of the dmg (at least in my build) is from melee via BB and DK, which WotW/Unstop is very strong for. My main outlier is Lead Tempest (Holdout is mostly used for the heal, Burst Shot is just tapped periodically and isn't big dmg ether way), but that's not a centerpiece of the build, and it'd still be boosted some anyways. Perhaps if you wanted to focus on AoE'ing trash a bit more then NW's higher boost to LT would be good for more mindless farming. But at some point it becomes less of a BB build and more of an LT build, and then maybe you should've just made a standard ranged Muni setup instead (w/ Conc_Chilled Form, Targeting Comp, and the ranged dps role).

Thanks for the advice, the original comment where i linked my muni version of the build disappeared and forgot to mention i was considering switching from DU to Bullet Hail with shield+armor piercing adv; as for why i even picked shoryuken on first place it's just because i love the damn punch (and rush was there to fuel DU itself between rotations) :#

I see. Well, you can keep DU in there if you like it well enough. DK's AoE and stun are nice, but you technically have close-up AoE (and potential CC) w/ Bullet Ballet + adv anyways (and the adv will always proc w/ Furious up), so you could replace DK w/ R2 DU + Rush. Bullet Hail is also kinda redundant w/ Lead Tempest here. Bullet Hail's dmg shield adv is nice for defensive play, and LT's wider pbAoE is easier to hit trash with, so you could still find reason to keep both, but dropping one to get a free power slot (to, say, add back in DK_DU, or a threat wipe, or a self-rez, or an Ult, or another heal, etc) is also an option.

Regardless, I'd prob just get normal ranks of LT, and you don't really need the AP refresh adv on BH, since Burst Shot maintains that debuff easily as is. I may also just drop Deflect's Elusive adv, and that can save you 3 adv points for elsewhere (could also take a rank out from the AO, if you need even more free points).
