Might/Sorcery

I am aware that half-melee, half-range builds don't tend to work very well. That said, this is my attempt at a might build, substituting powers like Pillar of Poz and Invocation of Storm Calling for abilities like Thunderclap and Shockwave. Is this anything? If not, could it be? Thanks in advance!

Eh, the sets aren't a great mix, but you can throw some Sorc-like powers in there for flavor, sure. Here's an example edit of it:

(Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Melee Damage)
    v3.45:38

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Strength (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Devastator (Str: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
    Level 6: Relentless (Str: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 9: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
Level 12: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 15: Bodybuilder (Str: 5, End: 5)
Level 18: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)
Level 21: Boundless Reserves (Con: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Eldritch Bolts
Level 1: Defensive Combo (Rank 2, Rank 3, Pummel)
    Level 6: Enrage
    Level 8: Unstoppable (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Pulverizer
Level 14: Demolish (Rank 2, Below the Belt)
    Level 17: Resurgence (Rank 2)
    Level 20: Haymaker (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 23: Pillar of Poz (Rank 2, Dilemma)
Level 26: Lightning Strike (Nailed to the Ground)
Level 29: Sigils of Destruction (Rank 2, Mystic Transference, Inner Peace)
Level 32: Eldritch Shield (Rank 2)
    Level 35: Thundering Return
Level 38: Unleashed Rage (Rank 2)
    Adv. Points: 36/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6: Flight (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Teleportation

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (2/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (3/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (1/3)
    Strength: Overpower (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Warden: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Warden: Ruthless (2/2)
    Warden: Upper Hand (2/3)
    Warden: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Mastery: Strength Mastery (1/1)

Pillar of Poz can put down a healing rune and also apply Jinx, while the sigils can also add some extra AoE dmg and self-healing. Most of the rest of it is just a normal Might build in how it plays. Gears mostly for Str, w/ some Rec and Con.

  • This looks neat! "Functional Might build with some fun Sorc powers" was basically exactly what I was looking for, so thanks!

With the Might/Sorcery concept in mind, is there a viable build for an imitation of the Arcane Golem?
I think it uses some power of Force aswell.

Going by the powers I listed in this recent thread, you can't really make a good build centered on Clobber, Eye Beams, and Force Eruption. Here's a compromise that still tries to be workable, though:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform (Hybrid)
    v3.45:38

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Strength (Primary)
    Level 10: Recovery (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Devastator (Str: 10, Con: 10, Rec: 10, End: 8)
    Level 6: Paramilitary Training (Str: 3, Con: 3, Rec: 3, End: 3)
    Level 9: Relentless (Str: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 12: Amazing Stamina (Rec: 5, End: 5)
Level 15: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
Level 18: Physical Conditioning (Str: 5, Con: 5)
    Level 21: Bodybuilder (Str: 5, End: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Clobber
    Level 1: Beatdown (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 6: Enrage
    Level 8: Invulnerability (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Pulverizer
Level 14: Demolish (Rank 2, Below the Belt)
    Level 17: Resurgence (Rank 2)
    Level 20: Uppercut (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 23: Energy Wave (Rank 2, Reverse Polarity)
    Level 26: Mental Leech
Level 29: Force Eruption (Rank 2)
Level 32: Ritual of Arcane Summoning (Rank 2, Unbound Ritual)
Level 35: Energy Shield (Rank 2)
    Level 38:
    Adv. Points: 30/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Strength: Swole (2/3)
    Strength: Physical Peak (3/3)
    Strength: Brutality (2/2)
    Strength: Juggernaut (1/3)
    Strength: Overpower (2/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
Brawler: The Glory of Battle (1/3)
    Brawler: Penetrating Strikes (2/2)
    Brawler: Ruthless (2/2)
    Brawler: Setup (2/2)
    Brawler: Flanking (3/3)
    Mastery: Strength Mastery (1/1)

The last power can be w/e ya want.

Obv you can't make Clobber your main attack, but Beatdown is kinda similar and can still setup for heavier attacks (I took Uppercut here, just for a change of pace, but you can use Haymaker instead, if desired). Eye Beams also aren't great outside of slotted PA builds, so I went w/ Mental Leech since it still fires from the head and provides some extra healing (and it can be recolored reddish to mimic the golem's eye beam). You can tap (not charge) Force Eruption to mimic the golem's action, but that's more to match the look than anything else. I also added EWave w/ adv to help pull in mobs, and cause it seemed thematic enough to include. For single-targets, it can charge Demolish to apply/refresh its debuff, and otherwise alternate between Beatdown and charged Uppercut (or Haymaker). Beatdown can also be your main AoE attack, while EWave, MLeech, and FEruption can also help there.

I made the build a Hybrid-dps w/ Invuln to mimic the golem's Stoneskin, though you can change it to a melee dps build using Unstoppable instead, if you want. Flanking in Brawler spec could also be subbed for Finishing Blow if you're mostly doing solo stuff. Regardless, it gears mostly for Str, w/ some Rec and Con.
