Oddity with trying to game with my son

I have been playing this game for years, since just after COH went offline. However, I've never bothered with team play or anything.

I set up a free account for my son, mine is Gold. When we log in, we don't see each other and I can't find him to invite him.

Any ideas? I've never manually selected a server, so not sure about that (like in COH, EQ, etc).

Are you in the same zone? Look on your mini map, where it says the name of the area you're in. Click there. Then make sure you're both in the same number zone.​​

Okay, but did you make sure you're in the same instance of that zone by following my instructions?​​

Oh, I gotcha. Didn't even know that was there as a function. That appears to be the issue. Let us synchronize and go from there.

make sure to add each other as friends in-game, that way the game will usually put you in the same zone as each other.

And when you try to change instance it will also tell you how many friends you have in each of the possible instances.

Good to know...things I didn't pick up playing solo. I still think in terms of manually selected servers like both CoH/CoV and EQ used to do.
