How to tank with Single Blade?

wrathsoul1wrathsoul1 Posts: 679 Arc User
Since the powerset rework that made a Single Blade tank possible, I've been wondering how to pull off one, with the most important question being: which primary superstat? Dexterity for the dodge chance or Constitution?

What about the powerset rework made single blade tanking more or less viable? Pre-rework, you built a tank by going out of set for one of Defiance, Invulnerability, or Thundering Kicks. Post-rework, you build a tank by going out of set for one of Defiance, Invulnerability, or Thundering Kicks.

SB tanking was viable before SB's revamp. Dex PSS's dodge and avoid options are pretty weak, though, and you'd give up 2 of the main reasons to take Dex PSS (EW and DA for dps). I would prob just use something like STR/Dex/Con or CON/Dex/X (w/ X being any stat other than Ego) instead.

Here's an example of an SB tank template, using Defiance:

I left the last few powers open for more options. Protector Mastery and Warden Mastery can both be fine picks here. Gears mostly for Con and some Dex.

Yeah. Con or Strength are tankier choices than Dex primary. Deflection from the Con specs scales better than the dodge bonus from the Dex specs. So, even if you go with LR, Con Primary is a good option.

But, why not just go with defiance, or invuln? You can even go with Aspect of the bestial and go for a strength-based tank instead of a dex-based one.

    Lots of viable options here.
