Infernal/Fire/Arcane or Darkness Build

Hey everyone. I've been working on a ranged dps build using a mix of internal and either arcane or Darkness with a little fire thrown in but I'm having trouble getting the build to synergize very well. Could anyone lend me a hand?

Well, it typically is harder to mix more sets in one build. You tend to get disparate clutter w/o enough of a good backbone, or just more redundancy. That said, Wisp in Infernal can help you bridge to the other sets. Here's one of potentially many ways to mix them all:

    (Unnamed Build) - Freeform
    v2.4.2-29

    Super Stats
    Level 6: Intelligence (Primary)
    Level 10: Dexterity (Secondary)
    Level 15: Constitution (Secondary)

    Talents
    Level 1: The Specialist (Dex: 10, Con: 10, Int: 8, Rec: 10)
Level 6: Covert Ops Training (Str: 3, Dex: 3, Con: 3, Int: 3)
Level 9: Healthy Mind (Con: 5, Int: 5)
    Level 12: Acrobat (Dex: 5, Con: 5)
    Level 15: Coordinated (Dex: 5, Int: 5)
Level 18: Quick Recovery (Con: 5, Rec: 5)
    Level 21: Negotiator (Int: 5, Rec: 5)

    Powers
    Level 1: Eldritch Bolts (advantages)
    Level 1: Conjuring
Level 6: Eldritch Shield (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 8: Night Warrior (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Concentration (advantages)
Level 14: Venomous Breath (Rank 2, Paralytic Bile)
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 20: Will-o'-the-Wisp (Guide, Cursed)
Level 23: Soul Beam (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 26: Resurgence (Rank 2)
    Level 29: Pyromancer's Blades (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 32: Imbue (advantages)
    Level 35: Fiery Embrace (advantages)
Level 38: Crashing Incantation (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Adv. Points: 34/36

    Travel Powers
    Level 6:
    Level 35:

    Specializations
    Intelligence: Enlightened (2/3)
    Intelligence: Battle of Wits (3/3)
    Intelligence: Detect Vulnerability (3/3)
    Intelligence: Expertise (2/2)
    Guardian: Fortified Gear (3/3)
    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Vindicator: Aggressive Stance (2/2)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (3/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)
    Mastery: Intelligence Mastery (1/1)

(not an early lvling build, ofc; take a Blast early and retrain till you cna unlock most of the powers)

Uses Wisp + Venom Breath for AoE, and Wisp + Soul Beam for single targets. Pyro blades can also be summoned to add some dps. Gears mostly for Int, w/ some Con and Dex.

Awesome, thanks for the help! The build as I had it was using both Will o the Wisp and Hex of Suffering but i'm wondering those two are worth having together or if it's only redundant to try using both, also is Night Warrior going to give the same damage bonus as Enchanter or would I be better off subbing out the fire powers with something from supernatural that will benefit from Enchanter?

I went w/ NW cause its a good dps passive on its own, but also cause it can boost all types of dmg. Enchanter can handle Infernal and Sorc or Darkness, but won't for any Fire attacks. So I guess it just depends on what attacks you want to settle on, as you can def do any dmg types well w/ NW as a fallback.

I would suggest subbing out and using Enchanter. NW really shines when using charge attacks. If your primary attacks are maintains then you will typically do more damage by taking a more conventional passive which provides a larger buff for your primary attacks.

When you run your damage rotation most of your dps will come from 1 or 2 powers. You will deal more damage by maximizing buffs for them instead of diluting their buffs for the sake of attacks that don't contribute much to your overall damage.

eh.. factoring in NW's -resist buff, I don't think the choice would make a large difference either way, though I suppose gear level and target resist factors into it.

I did forget one thing about the build: the thematic Fire attack I added is a pet power. In that case, yeah Enchanter is good cause neither passive would boost Pyro Blades anyways. If I had realized that earlier I would have made Enchanter the passive there. So yea, my bad on that one.

So, while leveling i've done a lot of tweaking with this and ended up on a TK/Sorcery build. It's been working really well for me and I've had a lot of fun with it, the only problem I'm having with it is the Energy unlock however. Could anyone throw out a suggestion to replace the one i'm using?

Not really much actual TK in there, but no matter. Overdrive imo isn't too great outside of PA toggle builds, but it can still work okay here. If you want a stronger EU for the build, then you can roll Conjuring pretty easily as long as you keep Hex up on something (that or take MSA, perhaps). That would also take switching to Int SS, prob.

Vengeance is also a bit redundant if you have SEmbrace for AoE already. I'd also prob not bother w/ Psychic Vortex. I may instead get Conviction and/or an Enchantment buff to help boost Soul Beam's dmg. The latter can come from something like Mystical's buff, or the buff version of Illumination.

So I replaced Overdrive with Conjuring and Hex with Will O the Wisp with Guide/Cursed so I could get a curse and enchantment off of one ability, I switched Psychic vortex out for Conviction but I'm having a hard time now deciding what to switch Vengeance out for. Preferably something to boost my damage output, but I'm not sure what my best option is there.

    What is MSA?

MSA = Molecular Self-Assembly. Its an Int-scaling EU that triggers when something comes off cd, so its a pretty universal one. Its good, though these days most other EUs can be better if you satisfy their conditions.

An Enchantment like Guide (Illumination) from the Wisp in Infernal can boost Soul Beam's dmg, if you want. If you are also using Hex then you don't necc need the Cursed adv on Wisp (though Wisp has 100ft range, unlike Hex, so its Cursed + Guide advs are useful for Soul Beam if dpsing from >50 ft out w/ it).

I'd prob avoid paralyzes as a dps, generally- unless you really like the theme of Ego Choke. They don't tend to do much dps or hold up to inc dmg that well. I'd also prob get Conviction to R3; could take a rank from Imbue for it. Would also take Gaurdicator specs and talents for all 3 SS's (and maybe some Rec to help w/ resting energy).

    Super Stats

    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)

This assumes an Int focus. If you wanted to gear for an Ego focus instead, then I'd take 3/3 Follow Through and 2/3 in 6th Sense for Ego PSS.

Eh, Ego PSS w/ an Int focus can still work, though. Up to you, cause a number of diff SS setups are fine here.
