Free form slot questions

Ran a quick search and didn't see this post anywhere, sorry if this has been asked a thousand times.

If I purchase a freeform slot, what are my limitations vs. subscribing? Can I access all content with that character? Can you still only color your powers with a Gold account?

You can only color powers with a gold/LTS account. Also, even if you go gold you won't get a "color all" button (very minor issue).

I don't know about changing emanation points/summon skins.

Nope. If memory serves, the only extra perk that comes with freeform slots (in addition to power selection, of course) for silver players is full access to the onslaught system.

If you purchase a Silver FF slot, you have total access to all available powers.. except from lockbox, recognition store powers, etc. No power coloring. Any travel powers you want that come from the C store will have to be purchased separately.

If you eventually subscribe, obviously you can create “normal” FF characters, recolor the powers, change emanation points (fists, palms, chest, head) on many powers, even choose the basic appearance on summoned pets (munitions bots, support drones, etc).

If you have a Silver FF slot, that slot will be classified as Special in the character select screen. While gold, you can do anything a “normal” FF can do with the exception of the color all button at the bottom left corner of your powers window, as stated by the previous poster. Being gold unlocks additional costume pieces, and you begin earning veteran rewards based on how long you subscribe.

Regardless of whether you choose to buy a Silver FF slot or just pick an archtype, you have the same access to the game’s content.

I have several freeform slots before I went lifetime (and still have them even after). There are no retcon tokens available for silver freeform slots, no power coloring, no changes of emanation points (both were as stated above). You still have to plan your power progression carefully, otherwise a full retcon cost 650+ Gs at level 40.

You can access all content with that silver freeform slot and survive much better than most ATs, provided you build a character with all the necessary tools such as 1) energy builder, 2) passive, 3) form, 4) EU, 5) ST attack, 6) AoE attack, 7) block replacer, 8) AO, 9) AD, 10) a couple of heals, 11) self-rez, 12) debuff power, etc..

If you can afford to buy a freeform slot, you may want to consider saving up for four of them and instead choosing to go lifetime when a sale comes along. That way, you'll have access to dozens and more freeform characters along with all the benefits of gold sub.
