Energy Shield (PA) Question

Will Phalanx or Laser Knight trigger by using powers that also are from the Technology Framework, or must it be form PA alone?

Phalanx takes slotted PA toggles to work; Laser Knight procs from anything flagged as melee (from any powerset).

I got the idea from watching a Youtube video posted by a player whose toon is named The Black Knight (A big strange looking green guy with a tail. He doesn't specify his exact build, but from watching the video I think I have most of it figured out. His Youtube name is 2ndvenus. He also used a toon named Snakewildlife. Both toons look impressive for tanking.

Layered defense seems to be the key to his effectiveness.

A lot has changed since he made these toons, so... some adjustments may be needed. It just looks interesting to make a toon that would be a lot tougher than my usual martial artist / ninja types.

Basically, I just want to make a toon who is reeeeeeaaaallly hard to kill. Normal PvE missions is all I do.

I mean, there's many ways to make really defensive build, esp w/ the revamps of sets introducing more utility powers. Here's one example that uses a few of the revamp powers:

I prob wouldn't take it this far normally, but you'll have much defensive stuff available to you. Can make many variants of builds like this, as long as ur not theme-limited.

I think I might give that one a try! Thanks Flow! I have no experience with Antagonize as a Block Enhancer. How do you think it compares to Force Shield + Adv, or Ebon Void +Adv?

Those videos are pretty old (and some powers have been adjusted since them), but from what I recall it was pretty clearly a sentinel mastery build using ebon void and mental storm. Sentinel mastery tanks are viable, though I wouldn't go quite as far as a black knight type build, because your damage (and threat generation, for tanking) winds up very low, and once the mobs can't kill you, extra defense doesn't really have much use.
