So November arrives which probably means the super lame and bad Nighthawk event is coming next, so I was wondering which non festive event does the community like more?
Which event would you rather have more often? 34 votes
That was a close one; I picked Circus Malvanum because it's the most ignorable of the events, though Snake Gulch is a strong competitor for ease of ignoring.
If we were voting by event quality I'd probably order them Snake Gulch, Nightmare Invasion, Circus Malvanum, and Nighthawk (Nighthawk wins for most oppressive cut scene, even relative to FM).
NI is a bit too tough and no-one seems to like playing it.
HNaSG - it's a fun encounter but no great reason to sit about in a level 20 zone waiting for something to happen.
Circus Malvanum - god, no. Race Failed! A visible demonstration of why Champions was never a vehicle game.
Nighthawk - the end encounter is horribly buggy and has no particular point, the vehicles are rubbish... but at least it scales properly to allow solo play.
Bloodmoon seems to be popular because it ticks all the boxes for everyone - you can use it for levelling without being constantly monstered, for grinding event currency and special items, there are bits for the train, bits for the zone, bits to solo (if you want), and a chunk of Champs lore to go along with it.
I'd cancel CM and replace it with something else. I always try to think in terms of how fitting something is to the superhero genre, and having heroes race like that has to be the least genre relevant event we have (other than costume contests, but I know people like to show off their outfits, even if Wovlerine doesn't). I prefer Clarence to both CM and Nighthawk. Christmas, in July?
The four mentioned above are the only major events that aren't clearly seasonal (well, there's Giant Monster week and Onslaught week, but those barely count as events at all). There are two other non-seasonal events that haven't been run much, though: a Qularr invasion (hasn't been run since launch so I wouldn't bet on it working) and a Mega-Destroid invasion (got run once a few years back).
Snake Gultch for me. Mostly because I can do my best and still die...so it's not a big deal or "my fault" when I do and there's a small element of triumph when I don't.
I can be useful with a variety of characters, fighting at the towers is very different than fighting at the boss, there is a light amount of coordination needed...not much but it's also not literally 0, and it's easy to get away once you're tired of it.
What needs to happen is that all events are taken out of Millenium City. Like, the Nightmare we just went through should obviously happen in Vibora Bay. Teddy shows up in snow covered Canada. Etc. Putting them in MC really screws everybody over. If you're doing the event, you can't get into zone because people are doing other things there (shopping, chatting, missioning, etc). If you are not doing the event, you constantly get asked to switch zones. Plus, the event swamps zone chat, or zone chat swamps event chat. If they were done in other zones, none of this would be a problem, plus, it would get people to actually GO to other zones.

none of the above- 1.yuck- interferes with being able to level 2."no, don't kill them, you'll set off the mission." remove the robot farming daily 3.FAIL "but i went thru that ring" 4. same as onwe- the mobs =hang around near mission givers
I agree with ^^ . put them in other zones. That way we don't have "can anyone not doing the fight please move zones" anyone in the other zone is likely to be there for the event.Westside is the ONLY place you can level to start with
I'm pretty sure the devs aren't going to invest time in moving the existing events to other zones, but we can hope that if they add new ones they can put them in other zones than MC. However, I can't wait to hear the complaints when a new event gets added to Canada and people doing Kiga asking people doing event to move to another zone.
That being said, we definitely need an event featuring Hroediger to celebrate Leif Erickson Day.
The only Event I love both Aesthetically, mechanically and its an event which DOES NOT take place in Millenium City
Not an Edgy event with a horrible filter to destroy my eyes
Seriously, its time to give all Zones Events, limiting events only in MC is sickering boring. A change of scenery is always nice
Bonus points for being a Steampunk paradise, we need more Steampunk

Nightmare Invasion has terrible purple filter Circus Malvanum, CUTSCENE MARATHON for FM alert! and the races are just dull Nighthawk, who cares about vehicle dogfight and killing trash mobs?
High Noon seems the most appealing since it's for another zone. Not much a fan of mech, but this OM is fun.

Nighthawk has a lot of good points. Aside from the boss fight(which you team for anyways) it's not that hard to solo. Problem is... that boss fight is ridiculous. the lasers are pretty close to insta kills and move through the sky like search lights.
Malvanum... is missing pieces. It's ok-ish, but part of the story is missing.
Nightmare Invasion, this one is legit hard and has nice rewards. But doesn't go anywhere. The first time it popped up I kept expecting so Cthulhu spawned monstrosity to appear in the sky as a boss fight, but no.
Snake Gulch... nice boss fight, and the story is cool, could use better rewards I guess.
Nightmare Invasion is lower because I think personally...those knocks are annoying— like super freaking annoying.
Nighthawk because you basically just kill mobs and the main missions is just a reminder of how vehicles are nothing but glorified travel devices.
Snake Gulch is a team effort...and it’s not like shoot one guy effort, you have 4 teams and communication makes this event interactive and not such a tedious DPS fest.
Maybe they could put all the fun OP vehicles into the finale of the Nighthawk event? That way people might play it to get a reminder of the golden age of Plasma Beam, when we could do so much damage to Mechanon we broke the game mechanics and started healing him, rather than killing him. No-one's bothered about Franklin Stone and his insta-kill lasers, let's give him some of his own back....

That's not what was actually going on. We were just overloading the game's event processing so it started dropping things, and the way plasma beam was implemented was apparently quite inefficient. It can happen with other attacks as well, there's a reason zone caps in events are now set at 50.
Of the ones listed Nighthawk is the only one which isn't horribly buggy and/or really painful.
Right...except for the part that a big part of the population has connection issues during the course of it, or the parts where it crashes you as soon as you enter the instance.
CM is nothing more then a lame attempt to sell keys and vehicles (*that were just recently nerfed*) from the Z store. NI is overtuned, and buggy. Orb duty is one of the least rewarding or entertaining part of the whole thing. There are too many mobs that pull and knock. Being a pin ball even while blocking isn't fun. HN another overtuned encounter with unrewarding miniboss fights that unless each group is well prepared/have someone with an optimized/minmaxed build can quickly get overwhelmed with. Nighthawk is just boring, the cutscene in the alert is terrible. Only the cutscene from Green Dragon/Red Snakes custom alert is worse.
I picked the race because it's fun and quick, but also easy to ignore. I also like that it introduces new players to vehicles.
That being said, I think I've been convinced to change my vote to High Noon--it's fun, has good mechanics, and is a bit like training wheels for Cosmics.
I definitely agree that events taking place outside MC is a good idea.
I like the race. Its very important for beginner to input the course #2 to the mind for successful race. Course #2 doesn't have any marks but only number on each check points.
So November arrives which probably means the super lame and bad Nighthawk event is coming next, so I was wondering which non festive event does the community like more?
The Christmas one. Don't care if its festive it has a big **** bear.

They all thought I was out of the game....But I'm holding all the lockboxes now..
I'll......FOAM FINGER YOUR BACK!
One thing I've noticed is that you can get some idea as to the direction of the next ring by looking at the angle of the ring you're flying through. So if the ring is angled left then the next one is left.
how about a month of NO event. just quiet do they still have the bug, where if someone speed boosts through a ring as you go through, yours doesn't register?
1) Circus Malvanum is fun for the races but the custom alert sucks. 2) High Noon at Snake Gulch, good boss fight but it lacks things you can do solo 3) Night hawk, I like that they have the options of gathering information outside of combat. It's a fun twist, but the cut scene for the special mission is brutal and it would drop this to last place except: 4) Nightmare invasion when it was first released was great, easy with a group but challenging to solo, but then it was "fixed" so it's near impossible to do on your own.
Just because an event is up doesn't mean you have to participate. I regularly give the non genre-appropriate CM a pass and don't feel like I am missing anything.
I hate to be the Negative Nancy here, but I'm not really fond of any of these events, but here's how they could be made better:
1) Nightmare Invasion: The horrors/worms daily quests could probably be toned down a bit to make them more solo-friendly. (Yes, solo play should be a legitimate gameplay option, even in an MMO) Currently, only heavily-defensive builds can pull this off. The worst part is that sky, though. It literally gives me a headache and there's no way for me to get rid of it by changing settings.
2) Nighthawk: I'd actually like this one the best if the instance cutscene prior to the vehicle chase wasn't nightmarishly long.
3) Circus Malvanum: The "red" race is cancerous and the alert blows on many levels. The racetracks should be much more visible than they are so that the emphasis can be on actually racing, not trying to figure out where the hell the track is. The alert would be fine if the cutscenes were eliminated and instead, Tatertots just blabbered on while we fought things. To prevent camping the spawn spot, things should also probably spawn in more than one location. Finally, can we start addressing how unpleasant enemies with defensive passives are?
4) High Noon: There's nothing for me to do solo. Some daily solo quests to break up the monotony of boss farming would be appreciated. Otherwise, it's not all that bad of an event.
NONE of the above. How about some quiet time for a bit?
Also this. I realize events are important to keep the game world feeling like there's something to do, but there's something to be said for vacations as well.
(Hopefully) Useful CO Resources: HeroCreator (character planner), Cosmic Timers/Alert Checklist, Blood Moon Map, Anniversary Cat Map, and more (eventually, anyway).
high noon did add a daily solo mission- kill 150 robots. they were the people setting off the boss fight early before people had gathered. once that mission got added . pretty much every boss fight failed
I imagine it could be a bit of an inconvenience until one has a feel for where the mobs are, but I've never found it a problem skirting around those mobs. And, of course, one can go to other zones and there is the fact that many people just camp in Rencen anyway.

It's kind of hard to ignore Nightmare Invasion, as it adds a large number of fairly dangerous critters spread across the city.
There's a couple of escort missions Downtown that are made more difficult by the nightmare critters. Aces & Eights I'm not sure of, but I know with My Left Foot I had them raining down from the ledge above me on the last street level leg of the trip.

I want to defend Snake Gulch a little bit because it's endgamey content that you can contribute to with a weird build (or a weak character, or a bad build, even). As long as you do something, even if that something is being some weird hybrid healer/ranged dps that is bad at both healing and ranged dps, you contribute to the tower if you pay minimal attention to zone chat. Also, it requires a group composition that isn't 99% dps, which is nice.
