Super Adapting Robot (Celestial Healer+Other sets mashup)

cheelanghocheelangho Posts: 95 Arc User
First, i want to thank Cryptic for the shiny (and FREE) new freeform slot i got during Black Friday promo; and second, would anyone be so kind to check this rough character build i made for that slot and give me some advice?

This is supposed to be a super adapting robot ala Amazo that can mimic enemy attacks and absorb energy from them - mainly intended to be a healer with other powers thrown in for flavor, currently running on Support Role:

Level 26: Force Shield (Rank 2, Rank 3, Force Sheathe) - i maybe have not a real need for this, but fits my theme nicely; alternatively i would use Energy shield or Ebon Void

Sentry Aura stacks its dmgRes w/ that of other stuff like AoRP. Its kinda small by comparison, but is party-wide and every boost adds up.

Iniquity and Sentinel Aura cannot crit, though Ascension can. So things like Fortify may not be a high priority. I am unsure if the heal portion of Lifedrain critting procs those effects, though. That could be worth testing.

Ego 2ndary isn't adding much to a build like this. I'd prob replace that w/ Con SS to make you an even sturdier healer. Feild Surge also isn't really that great of an AD w/o PFF, and doesn't scale w/ bonus healing, last I checked. Ya may want somethign diff there, like MD, Rebirth, CoRG, or Palliate/absolve.

Thanks for the advice, gonna tweak this build and post it later
In the meantime, are Fortify and Moment of Need worth keeping on the build as it is now? or which specs could be of use instead?, can Wither on Sentinel tree be triggered by root debuff?, description at CO Planner says only with Paralyze, Stun or Sleep but i'd like to be sure

Roots don't trigger Wither; they can trigger Trapped in Overseer though.

If ur main heal is Conduit (not Iniquity, I had that wrong), then it can still crit. I was confusing it for Iniquity before. So ur prob fine w/ any crit heal talents if ya find them compelling enough.

Aaand after a little while i finally got myself to work on the build: while this character is supposed to be able to copy moves from its enemies, i'd rather not use sorcery circles or sigils or anything with runes since it breaks the technological theme i'm going for (despite most of its powers coming from the supernatural sets :* )

    Name: Ultimo X Ver 2

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Presence (Primary)
Level 10: Constitution (Secondary) - Like you said, Ego wasn't helping too much, damage was too low anyway, so i followed your advice and picked Con instead
    Level 15: Intelligence (Secondary)

    Talents:
    Level 1: The Radiant
    Level 6: Brilliant
    Level 9: Diplomatic
    Level 12: Healthy Mind
    Level 15: Shrug It Off
    Level 18: Intimidating
    Level 21: Enduring

    Powers:
    Level 1: Radiance
Level 1: Celestial Conduit (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 6: Compassion
Level 8: Aura of Radiant Protection (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Illumination
    Level 14: Redemption (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 17: Protection Field (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 20: Ascension (Rank 2, Judgment)
Level 23: Lifedrain - now using it as a quick attack-self heal move on mooks while leveling and moved the Adv points from here and Skarns to more important moves imo
Level 26: Force Shield (Rank 2, Rank 3, Force Sheathe)
    Level 29: Skarn's Bane
Level 32: Support Drones (Rank 2, Rank 3) - changed from Chest Beam: while a fun move to use it eats a ton of energy i'd be better using on, you know, healing teammates
    Level 35: Masterful Dodge
Level 38: Rebirth (Rank 2, Rank 3) - Self rezzin sounds like a very useful skill for a healer

    Travel Powers:
Level 6: Jet Boots (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 35: Energy Slide

    Specializations:
    Presence: Selfless Ally (2/2)
    Presence: Grandeur (3/3)
    Presence: Moment of Glory (3/3)
    Presence: Force of Will (2/2)
    Sentinel: Caregiver (3/3)
    Sentinel: Sentinel Aura (3/3)
    Sentinel: Moment of Need (2/3)
    Sentinel: Genesis (2/2)
Sentry: Fortified Gear (2/3) - While Fortify sounds like a nice spec, i thought it might be a better idea to have a more "permanent" effect so i dont have to worry on building up too many buffs and concentrate on my task of keeping team healthy
    Sentry: Precise (3/3)
    Sentry: Sentry Aura (3/3)
    Sentry: Reinforce (2/2)
    Mastery: Presence Mastery (1/1)

The drones are a bit unreliable, but if they're more just for the flair and minor background healing then its okay I suppose.

I'd get the AoE adv on Illumination if ur taking it and Conduit. Ya can take a rank form one of the longer cds like Ascension. Rebirth also does fine at R1 (iirc, ranks don't reduce its cooldown- they could be mote useful if they did, though), so ur Lifedrain or Skarn's don't have to stay at R1. Ya prob also want to consider trading R3 for the AoE adv on the ally res.

I'm not sure if i can still post on this thread, but i've made a couple changes to my last build and would like to read some opinions:

    PowerHouse   (Link to this build)

    Name: Ultimo X Ver. 3

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Presence (Primary)
    Level 10: Constitution (Secondary)
    Level 15: Intelligence (Secondary)

    Talents:

    Level 1: Radiance
Level 1: Celestial Conduit (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 6: Compassion
Level 8: Aura of Radiant Protection (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 11: Illumination (Brilliance)
Level 14: Redemption (Rank 2, Salvation)
Level 17: Protection Field (Rank 2, Rank 3) - Animation-wise i like Force bubbles better, but i was wondering if Mindful Reinforcement would be a better choice?
Level 20: Skarn's Bane (Rank 2, Warlock's Malice) - Picked the Adv just because PRE is a Superstat, is it fine as it is or r3 is a better option? or maybe use the points in something else?
Level 23: Palliate (Rank 2, Rank 3) - Noticed most of my heals have 50 ft range or lower, so i changed Drones for this
Level 26: Lifedrain (Rank 2, Vampiric Sympathy)
    Level 29: Rebirth
Level 32: Force Shield (Force Sheathe)
    Level 35: Ascension (Judgment)

PF lasts quite longer than MF, so as a shield power its generally better, though MF does have the extra potential of being a heal if the shorter shield expires. They both stack, but if I had to pick one, I'd generally take PF for Support builds w/ readily avail ally heals, and MF for ones that don't have many/any other ally heals but still want something to both shield and potentially heal allies with (though slowly and much weaker than for a Support toon).

Skarn's is being 're-adjusted' (nerfed, really) to no longer remove enemy buffs and EFs. If its extremely high energy cost remains then imo there's not much reason to take it (outside of theme, or being a Grimoire AT).

Palliate as a pure healing power is rather weak, since its on a long cd- its better taken for its threat wipe adv w/ the heal being an extra perk. If ya want to keep it to wipe your or ally threat, then get the Absolve adv.

I see, hopefully they nerf Ao too; he (she?) is the only reason i considered using Skarn's so i could do my Alert dailies more easily, but oh well... i hate that worm

I picked Palliate only because of range, might switch to Rebuke so i can heal and attack farther or simply relocate adv points :*
