  • I still received these notifications, even though I specifically unchecked every single option under "Notification Preferences". And there is no way to delete the notifications either.
  • I can see your post now. I'm not sure if I'll be able to tomorrow though.
  • Yeah, I think it might be fixed. I would wait a few days to see if your posts disappear.
  • I think the main problem is that they thought the conversion could be done by someone who didn't understand the software in the first place. I'm not really criticizing Trendy or trailturtle. They might have done the best job that they could given the circumstances. But their bosses should have understood that a data…
  • I have never gotten PWE customer support to help me with anything that required a member of their technical staff to do. They seem to have generic customer support, but no actual technical support. Every time, they give me the runaround asking me perform generic steps that I know won't help. Even after I perform said steps…
  • I already reported the SSL error. I even quoted your post from before the forum migration about the issue. Still no response from PWE though. http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/discussion/1190685/ssl-error-on-arcgames-com-ssl-error-no-cypher-overlap
  • His posts show up in the search results, but when you try to view those posts, they are nowhere to be found. And when you try to query his comments or discussions, it says that he hasn't made any. http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/api/v1/users/comments?User.Name=flyingfinn…
  • Incidentally, vBulletin provides the ability to download your private messages in three formats: ASCII, CSV, and XML. I know this because I downloaded all my PMs before the forum migration. Maybe, they can use this function to download each user's messages and email the data to him or her. Of course, that would also…

  • No doubt you are correct that Vanilla Forums is handling many of the tasks that were previously handled in-house. If this forum migration were solely about all the great features of Vanilla's software, then PWE could have simply downloaded the software and run it on their own servers. Since the software is open-source,…
  • @pwlaughingtrendy: I also can't post in Tribble release note threads, though I can post in Redshirt release note threads. For example, see the threads below. http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/discussion/1192055/tribble-maintenance-and-release-notes-june-26-2015…
  • I found a workaround: Replace the post ID in quote="frtoaster;1192063" with the URL of the thread as I have done below. You should still fix this bug though. Most users won't know how to work around it.
  • I'm not sure what you mean by "not commercially viable". Are you saying that it would cost too much because there are too many users, or are you saying that there are too few users for it to be worth their time? I doubt the costs would be substantially different whether they had 10,000 users or a million users. It's…
  • Are you saying that they OCR images, but neglected to check for underscores? I wasn't quite sure what you meant, so I tested it. Language filter test: The road to hell EDIT: This is a bit confusing. The title is filtered in text within the thread and on pages linking to the thread. And it's filtered in the URL within this…
  • I kind of said this in another thread, but it isn't literally impossible. Presumably, they have the old messages backed up somewhere. They could reinsert each message as a separate conversation. If the message titles are a causing a merge problem, then simply move the message title into the body of the message in bold…
  • My join date is wrong too: it says "April 30" instead of whenever I joined in 2012. I suspect that anyone who logged in to these forums before the migration has the wrong join date. And the Tribble and Redshirt forums are still invisible unless you are logged in.…
  • By the way, the API is actually up and running (at least for now). See my post in the other thread: http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/discussion/comment/12572115/#Comment_12572115
  • OK, I really should read more before posting. The API is actually up and running. http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/api/v1/users/comments?User.Name=pwlaughingtrendy http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/api/v1/users/comments.xml?User.Name=pwlaughingtrendy…
  • Vanilla Forums might do things differently though. Many websites allow unlimited crawling from the big search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft, but see other robots as nuisances, so they block them if they see too many requests.
  • Your options from easiest to hardest are as follows: 1. Have PWE enable the Vanilla API and then use that. From Vanilla's documentation though, it seems that PWE has to enable advanced search as well if you want to query by author. http://blog.vanillaforums.com/api-search/ Correction: If they enable the API, you wouldn't…
