It only bypasses the filter on the client side until you refresh the page.

But a real bug is in the filter, if you press the quote button.

It sends completely unfiltered data from the post back. Which is why they disabled the WYSIWYG editor. Because you could stick raw HTML in and it could be inserted into the post editing box.

Language filter should be removed. It's ridiculous to censor "bad words". Responsibility and self-determination are the better way to go.

that only applies to adults, but as far as i know, pwe games also draw in teenagers and even kids. kids usually don't fully understand the concepts of responsibility or self determination, those take time and experience to gain.
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.

I just discovered the filter is easily breakable with a certain character. I will show you for educational purposes and so PWE can send it in to get fixed. On a side note, if you have any filtered word in a linked image file, it will censor the file path so the file won't get rendered. On the other hand, if you put a filtered word in the thread title, the link to the thread will contain the word unfiltered on the thread listing. However, if you try to post it, it will get filtered.

The language filter should be modified though. Atm it's a bit too restrictive it's censoring words you'd probably even here in super sheltered children's houses. The kind that genuinely don't know many swears and say things like "Oh Parsnip!" instead. I mean, I think ***** is filtered even. And vacuum cleaners and DQ replacement response times do that.

I had a laugh from that second example! But yes, the current filter does really suck.

It looks like full-width alphanumeric characters aren't covered over the word filter umbrella. (can be seen in my above post)

They already knew about the title filter thing, but I'll make sure that I ping Trailturtle about the other things you found. Thanks for helping out!

Are you saying that they OCR images, but neglected to check for underscores?

I wasn't quite sure what you meant, so I tested it.

Language filter test: The road to hell

EDIT: This is a bit confusing. The title is filtered in text within the thread and on pages linking to the thread. And it's filtered in the URL within this post, but not in URLs on the main page and the category page.

After they added a word filter for after-edited posts, I noticed that it doesn't work on spoilers. How interesting...

Anyways, I didn't know where I should put this and this seemed like an appropriate location.

I broke the filter in a far more direct way than the last few times I found breaks in it. For some reason I never thought of trying this until now...

My bad for not clarifying this a while ago. I just meant that linked image text was being filtered. So if the image linked was called "shitty-image.png", it would be filtered breaking the link.
