A couple of newb questions

Hi.

I'm a new player, just started Neverwinter about a month ago and wanted to ask a few questions about things that I can't get answers to from anyone in game.

In PVP how is glory determined? Is it based on kills? Points? Score? Do assists mean anything? I usually get no rewards but sometimes I will get 130 to 200 points and I'm not sure why I got them. Is there an easy to follow formula for glory calculation?

How do you get "soulforged" enchantments that go in the purple slots on armor? I seen someone in a quest with one of these when I inspected her gear and it said it raises you on death for a certain amount of HP. I asked her where she got it and she said auction house which isn't really helpful for a new player. Is there a way to get these in game that you can work towards?

On the healer companions is there a way to get them to move away from bosses or is their movement random? Most of the time they will stand in the giant red circle and die and then I usually die after because they aren't healing me.

Sorry if these seem newbish I just wanted to ask for some help.

Thanks for any info :)

You used to be able to get them as random drops from doing T1 and T2 dungeons. I'm not sure if that is the case anymore. As they have been moved to the seal vendors and can be purchased there.

The A.I. on pets is ridiculously stupid. You have no control over them, and they will often run in random directions, agro near by mobs, or stand in areas of red death, just to be annoying. Their usefulness will always be of limited value. It's for this reason alone that most people prefer to use the augment pets instead.

The higher grade compnions tend to have higher grade AI, too. The Angel of Protection isn't an Einstein, but really way less of a moron than the Healer Apprentice. I'm not completely certain of the usefulness of Companion Upgrade here, but this also seems to be true there. At least the constant looking for new friends to cuddle with gets better.

Soulforged enchantments come from combining 4 shards of soulforged. The base chance for success, however, is only 1%, so you'll either have to take your chances, use a bunch of preservation wards, or use a coalescent ward for a guaranteed success. You used to be able to get such shards randomly from dungeons, but that has changed with module 6. You can buy the shards from the auction house, or from teh seal vendor - some cost elemental seals, others cost protector seals, (or w/e the other category is called).

The companions have preset behaviors, which you cannot control. The apprentice healer has a point blank attack/heal, so he'll try to use it against enemies. Depending upon what resources you have available, there are some much better alternatives out there - check the auction house.

Another question if anyone can help - do stats on companions help them? Power for more damage or more healing? Recovery for faster use of skills? Or does it even make any difference?

The stats listed for the companion as "active bonus", BTW, are applied to your stat score. Furthermore, the stats from _all_ up to five active companions are added, not only the summoned one. Same for buffs like "+x% combat advantage damage" etc., which are thus mostly more worthwhile than simple +stats.

Took me a year to realize that the cat and its like in augments are very potent stat wise but...he just sits there endlessly grooming himself as all cats seem to do...not a very good threat maker or tank but major booster to your stats esp when you deck it out in gear.

At end-game level, combat companions are nearly useless. The res themselves now, so they get one hit repeatedly instead of just once, but still, not very useful. Get an augment. Any augment is good, but the black dragon stone is pretty hard to beat with all offense runes and rings, but like I said, any augment is better than a combat companion.

A note on glory - you will get more if the you don't pound the other team so hard that they stay in the camp to wait out the match. Why? Because if you let them cap, you can cap and get more points. So, if you are winning 600 to 10, best way to earn glory is to stop fighting and just trade point captures back and forth until the match ends, this maximizing points for everyone.

The alternative is earning almost no glory at all even if you win. I wish more people understood this....
