Augment Pets Question

socraticmethheadsocraticmethhead Member Posts: 12 Arc User
I have recently purchased an Ioun companion (sad stats don't affect gear score), but I was wondering if the stat share is only active when the companion is summoned? Essentially I want to know if I had 5 augments, would all of their stats apply to me or only the summoned?

Thanks in advance :)

Yes the Ioun Stones have to be summoned for you to get their stats.

Just out of interest, why are you sad that the stats don't affect gear score?

Lol idk. Im still excited for stat boosts, I was just thinking 'once I equip this I'm gonna have a big boy GS' and then I was surprised when it didn't go up. Guess it doesn't really matter though lol.

I have that happen a lot too. The big boy gs thing. Truth, no it doesn't matter to you, but to me, the guy building my epic hero, it does. Truth too, it really does, higher gear score, higher stats. Where in anywhere does higher stats fall into the "not that big of deal" category when stats equal gs equals BOSS STATUS, OH YEAH !#; HA seriously, what can we, the newnevers do to help us GIT ON YOUR LEVEL!

Gear score doesn't = a good player. It's just that for some reason, the Xbox community seem to have put a huge emphasis on gear score.
"Oooh, you're not 16k.. *Kick*" seems to be the mentality.

The truth is, I regularly see dungeon teams failing with 15-16k+ GS players, because they are built wrong and are bad players.
On the flip-side, I regularly see teams with much lower GS just blitzing through things as a team.

Summary: Don't worry about your gear score, worry about learning to play properly and building your character properly. That's what it's really all about.

    It does increase your GS.

You just need to add high level runestones and equipment with enchantments on it to see it but it does increase GS.

I also beg to differ. GS does matter. But if people bought their gear which increased their GS then I agree, GS don't mean a thing. I think games like this should have on the item if either it was acquired by loot or not. Because a high GS with all items acquired by farming and looting, would show the grind and experience of the player. Then say someone who's never ran a T1 or T2 dungeon and bought all his gear in the AH and has a 15k GS. And has no idea how to run the dungeon.

Sorry, just to clarify, do the augmented stats effect your gear score or no?
I imagine the active bonuses will, but not the augment?
Also, I guess it isn't worth using Eldritch stones with augmented pets?

Yes they do effect your gear score. To et a noticeable effect you have to the load the stone with stuff is what he said.
Example, my stone atm only has like a 100 effect of my 11000 gear score.

Edit: only happens when stone is summoned

Yes, I was foolishly expecting the augmented stats to all count towards my gear score. Anyway, I am one of those players who places a higher importance on encounter rotation, correct build, and teamplay than GS, but I definitely like the look of a higher number. I don't judge a book by its cover, but there's nothing wrong with a cool cover lol.

Absolutely is! We (guildies) tried it and you get another % boost on top of the aument :)
Eldritch stones are cheap as well, so if you have a defense runestone slot, buy at least a rank 7 and stick it in.

Totally agree, im a Hunter Ranger with 11.7k GearScore, kicked about 10-15 times before i manage a dungeon run (this is of course when im running solo when guildies aren't on) without fail i will top the damage dealt and kills made list, when i run with my guild, one of which is a GWF @ 17.8 GS and he still cant beat me for damage and thats a 6k GS difference. However i do believe that it does help when you come to face the final boss in Castle Never due to the lack of defence/deflect GS 11.7k has but still doesnt really matter, in my opinion.

The stones don't affect your gear score. They affect your stats when they're summoned, though. That's why GS can be misleading. I remember equipping the stone and hoping my GS would increase. It didn't. I packed stuff into it, my GS still didn't budge. But my stats went through the roof. Uninformed people look at GS only, because they don't know how to read stats.

Definitely put an Eldritch stone into the defense slot.
