Cockatrice's active bonus completely bugged (does nothing ever)

The active bonus of the cockatrice (10% chance on incoming damage to root the attacker for 3 seconds) does nothing. ever. I've been to sharandar fighting small redcap mobs for like 30mins now not attacking them back, it hasnt triggered even once.

So, offering a mysterious egg for 1.2mil is one thing. But rendering the common pet for that price completely useless as it doesn't have a working active bonus is...well... I know bugs can occur and you didn't intend it that way, but seriously, fix it asap, i'm super pissed atm :(

I can confirm it does not seem to work. Have been running with it for a few days now. And just before making this post went to sharandar to run in circles from groups of mobs for a few minutes. Nothing has happened.

It is working in IWD. I was rooted many times when chased by a TR and i am wearing a briatwine. The dmg reflected make me be rooted so often and my plague fire also cause me to be rooted even i stop attacking him.

Okay, summarizing what we know now in this thread and through other information I've gathered so far:

The proc seems to work in open PvP like in IWD, but doesn't work in PvE. This needs a fix, no matter what. Either we need a tooltip change (which would be a kick in the face of everyone buying the companion) or a fix for PvE.

This has to be fixed both ways cause the 10% chance means your perma rooted in pvp (gpf/bleed/pbile/RoE bla bla bal dots root you to death)

It works in iwd PVP and its even more bugged than in pve. 10% chance is totaly wrong, im getting rooted almost every time i hit someone with that companion, and i play GF (slow swings should be less affected than fast attacking TR hits for example). also whn i do lunging strike and the bonus activate it teleports me back from where i did LS, its totaly bs. I see lot of ppl abusing it now(roar + this companion) so ill stay out of IWD pvp until this is fixed. :S I suggest a change to slow instead of root (full immobilise).

This is getting ridiculous for Icewind pvp. With CW, I get constantly perma rooted when I attack basically anyone with anything as I have plaguefire enchant. 3 seconds in fight rooted usually means death against basically any class with equally skilled player and equal GS. CW already sucked sooo much in pvp, but introducing Cockatrice made open world pvp impossible and introducing Sphere of Black Ice (with weakest form 3 second root+9k damage) and Sigil of the Trickster (3k damage and enemy is at you, regardless of how high you were hiding) has made every form of pvp even harder for CW.

So no more hiding, running and anything CW has takes ages to cast. Seems like there is someone really hating CWs in the developer team and they are trying to get them stop playing pvp for good...

And there are already people shouting for a nerf....

Yes, indeed. This one companion was a total game breaker for me and not going to bother with Icewind pvp anymore, which is kinda shame as it was nice change for domination at the beginning when there was still many people playing it on both sides and the worst game breakers weren't introduced yet.

That issue has been reported so many times, even in official wiki there is info that Cockatrice doesn't work on PvE.

This isn't fixed yet... so sad.

I'm beginning to wonder if there is a systemic problem with the PvE root code in general. When I hit a mob with Constricting Arrow, it only roots for a second instead of what the tooltip says it should. Maybe PvE mobs are getting a certain duration chopped off the root time right off the bat?

It probably is only working while flagged for PVP. I have never had mine proc on a mob but it has procd on players.

Do you think it's still worth getting for about 400k AD even without the active bonus working on mobs?

Heah cool, but forgive me to not digging through tons of posts looking at the bug part before I buy any companion...come one!
The tooltip states it's a root, and it should be a root! It's a great thing for tanks in PVE and it's not working there lol.

I would never buy the chicken thingy if I knew it's not working in PVE - as simple is that.

Companion needs a fix, no question about it.
