Dear Teammates,
Some of you may have seen me, others may not know me. I am a healer, and in particular, I heal in PVP when I play. I wanted to get a few things out in the open.
1. I am there to play the objectives, not help you get kills. As long as you are protecting one of the points, I will do my best to keep you alive, but if you decide to run off and chase an enemy out of my range, I won't follow you to keep you alive, you're on your own. Be aware when you're being baited.
2. Not every healer use the same skill set. Just because one cleric drops Astral Shield doesn't mean every cleric will have it as an active skill. I use what I'm comfortable healing with, please don't ask me to change unless you have a really good reason.
3. We tend to get focused once the other team notices us healing. Keep in mind that the more time I spend keeping myself alive, the less time I spend keeping you alive. So if you see a healer under fire, be a sport and lend us a hand.
4. Be patient with healers. More often than not, a healer likely chose to heal for PVE, not PVP, but we do need to finish daily quests. If we wanted to do strictly PVP, we likely would have rolled a Trickster Rogue. There is a fairly steep learning curve when going from PVE healing to PVP healing, and not all healers are able to make that transition.
Anyways, that pretty much sums up most of my issues I have with playing a healer in PVP. Granted, I don't have to PVP as a healer, but can we both agree that life is better with a pocket healer?

A good PvP cleric is harder to bring down then any guardian. If you are dying on a cleric to only one rogue or attacker, you are doing it wrong. Also hard heals is better the healing over time.

A well geared skilled DC is **** near impossible to kill 1 vs 1, even on my TR. They can't kill me but they turn it into a stalemate long enough for help to arrive. DC's are #1 node contenders far as I'm concerned, even above a good TR.
Its rare I can kill a skilled DC 1 vs 1, if I get lucky with Shocking is about the only time.
I have no problems with 1v1 or even 2v1 in most cases. And yes, I use hard heals rather than heal over time. This was simply a post to explain to other players that while I have no problem being a pocket healer for someone to pick off targets, the objective comes before your personal score. To many times I've seen people run off and hunt down kills when we're holding 2 nodes. It's pointless and I won't chase you to heal you. Stay on the nodes, they have to come to us if they want to capture 2 and have a chance at winning.
As far as the rest of the post, that's just me standing up for the casual PVP cleric who only plays to complete dailies.

In competitive pvp ... Assuming you are playing w skilled ,competent players on both teams... And not out classed by certain class stacking cheese comps.... Astral shield(empowered)is a must... Just my honest opinion... This mod is so heavy burst , and since we are missing out on 4 campaign's worth of boons (20 seperate statsticks from boons) astral shield is a must at the meta... Anyways... Back to the xbox i go... - meanseason

I love playing PVP because there are no vote kicking by those perfectionist jerks of skirmish and dungeons.
I swap my astral shield to sunburst to keep the Close Quarter Players out of touch, because if they dazed or stun you then you may go down instantly and a downed cleric is a downed teammates to follow.
Astral Shield is good if the enemy heads on frontally but in PVP, rogues will 1 hit most of the players inside, ranger will try to place their shooting plant inside your astral shield, staying long inside the shield will be iced by wizards or hell you in by warlocks and fighters will try to push you away out of the astral shield as some clerics will sunburst you out of it also.
