Why don't many of the few dragons in the game count as dragons?

Dragon's Bane is impossible to get because of this. There are Drakes in Ebon Downs. I don't understand why they don't count toward the kill 1000 dragons achievement. Since drakes, by definition, are dragons.

    Cause drakes are not dragons, think of them as big lizards, it's like saying a wyvern is a dragon, when they are little smaller, way more stupid and only 1/50 as dangerous as a dragon

    I disagree. I've always thought of them as baby dragons.

    Anyway, what would you say is the best way to go about getting the achievement? Besides fighting the bosses, of course, which takes forever.

    The best advice I can offer is to not chase endurance achievements. That's both frustrating and boring. Just play the game and have fun. Eventually, the endurance challenge will pop on its own. In the mean time, fighting the epic dragons is great for earning loot and progressing through the Tyranny of Dragons campaign.

    A drake is to a dragon what a pigeon is to an eagle. All in all they are both birds, but they are just not quite the same :')

    Great advice. I have the next campaign available but I'm not sure how to get out of the Chasm ATM. >_>

    Set a waypoint on the map and have the sparkles lead you.
