Close to the Crown quest bug please help!?

After entering the Nasher hideout in the close to the crown quest and clearing out all the enemies you come upon a door. After interaction with the door there is a short cutscene where a man is told to run and that they will protect him. After this cutscene you regain control of your character and are prompted with an update to the mission to defeat his guards. However, I have done this many times now and every time there is no one in the room. I have tried leaving the area and coming back. I've gone back to the protectors enclave and came back to the mission. I've done another mission in the protectors enclave area and came back, all with the same results. Is there anyone else who has run into this bug because I've really been enjoying this game but now can no longer progress in it. Please help.

    I ran into this issue myself dont go in with a companion fixes it seems the game does not expect u to have one yet and bosses who are supposed to be there walk right through the door and u end up killing them buging the quest trigger
