So the new zone is a Blackdagger replica?

I mean, is this a final or is the new zone just not ready yet and you had to place the new content within an old zone?

    Yes.

Same Map, same dungeon, maybe more caves (all the same)... yeah is a freaking new zone!

It's difficult to create 3 zones or 4 with normal quests instead of hourly one? Really... If you want to kill this game you are doing it right, we leak only a new dungeon instead of a 4dungeon-set + a new Castle Never and it's really the end for this game...

So we can safely say they currently lack the manpower to create new maps?

Was excited to test new stuff, logged in, ported to the Drowned Shore and...clicked Alt+F4. Not gonna bother testing the content that was in the game for almost two years.

    Hi.

Did you read the anouncement ?

It means that our actions at Blackdagger where successful and the story continues there.

I would like to be able to see changes on the zones that we visited before as it means that our actions are changing the future.

    Quote :

    The Drowned Shore
In the wake of the defeat of the Blackdagger Bandits, trade along the High Road gradually resumed. Rangers of the Emerald Enclave took it upon themselves to guide merchants and travelers through the stretch of coastal forest that surrounds the Blackdagger Ruins, while keeping watch to assure the fortress did not become home to some other baneful force.

A contingent of dwarf miners under Udo Stonekin took up working the abandoned mines in the area with modest success.

Meanwhile, Lord Neverember assigned a small contingent of Neverwinter Guards to garrison the lighthouses at Raven Cliff Beach with orders to prevent those beacons from falling into the hands of pirates and wreckers as happened once before.

The Guards were somewhat surprised to find an ornate tower built on the shore. They learned this tower was built by followers of Lliira who called it the Fountain of Delights. Visitors were offered relaxing, scented baths. Seeing no harm in this, the guards went about their business.

    End quote.

^This. And I concur - I like the idea of revisiting areas to see how they've changed after our cherishing the bad guys, etc. It's helps with immersion. Otherwise it's all a waste of time - we go, we see, we fight, nothing happens. This way at least there a feeling that we are accomplishing something - immersion and story-wise.

Not everyone is a zerger - those of us who enjoy the story (what little of it there is) enjoy this aspect.

Yes, the change to Blackdagger is meant to keep the Timeline of Neverwinter on track with the Realms Timeline. Of which, I hope to see MUCH more of this. Indeed!

Also, Drowned Shore is a level 60-63 zone. It is not a level 70 zone. Many seem to be skimming over this fact in the official preview thread on this. Also, it's in the known issues that almost all mobs are still using old models.

Was tuning in to say this.

The Drowned Shore is the FIRST of likely many new areas we'll get to explore on our way to 70. The Preview Server is live, but it looks like there's very little of what's expect to come up right now, so keep that in mind.

And even to that point, I love love love the idea of going back to "old" zones and seeing how the story has progressed since the heroes last visited. In my personal opinion, I think that's what's missing for a lot of MMOs, and it really dampens the immersion. Advancing the timeline via these new zones is a fantastic idea.

I would of liked it much more if the Drowned Shore was more of an extension to Blackdagger Ruins zone rather than a direct copy with some things changed here and there.

Even though there is some back story, for a bigger game expansion, it's the super cheesy way out. I just hope the other "new" zones don't follow the same pattern.

Actually I do kinda hope the new dungeon is based on Cragmire Crypts. I have always felt that dungeon was so large and so under-utilized, it has the potential of being Castle Never-esque in scope due to its sheer size alone (and overall creepy feeling).

Story reasons aside, it still seems like a cheapass move, for a module they promised would be their biggest ever and they said they'd conserved their module 4/5 resources for making. They're not just copy-pasting the original area, but the mines I visited so far are copy-pasted from older campaign dungeons -- Scalefather's Hollow and one from the werewolf zone.

They should close down access to the older map when the new one appears, to conserve some sense of verisimilitude at least.

The lockdown of old zones would be a more immersive aspect of the game, but would lock you from helping low level friends/guildies/players in those zones if you (and they) want to. So having two same and different zones at the same time provides you with both aspects of playing.

I really would love to revisit some middle zone dungeons like clock tower in neverdeath. I found it really awesome and a bigger/harder version of it would be welcome.

So many maps for a game where level up is so fast.. Are u giving us these maps again?
I'm limited in this game of istances without "Open World".. I can't say "Hey! That's nice! We are back at Blackdagger again!"

The new entrance is ok, but can we ask an extension of the map, cutting off one of the old parts?

If the next modules will be a copy-paste as WoD istances...
