Doing Maintenance before events are technically over?

During the Winter Festival I noticed for the first time since you'll have been doing events that maintenance happened before the event should have been technically over and the same thing with this last event. Every single event since Neverwinter first started has lasted until 11:00 am (CST my time) and I've always been able to get up early and do a little bit at the last moment but not anymore. Usually the event timer runs down then maintenance kicks in but not anymore. I get you'll are on a different time zone and post what time you'll are going to do maintenance but why the sudden change? For instance yesterday at noon the event time said 23 hours left which would have made it end at 11:00 am for me but I get up at 8:00 in the morning and event is over and maintenance is running? Just seems like if the event says 4 or 5 days then it should run for that time. Maybe change the event clock to end before you'll do maintenance?

Anyway just wondering why the sudden change. Kinda sucks since I only needed one more thing to get another box :( Anyone else notice this in their time zone? Not a big deal really to tell the truth but I think it'd be a good idea for the event clock to show the "actual" time you really have left to do the event.

Every event I hear people complaining about the same stuff, I would have figured they would have understood already that it'll always happen.

Nurp have only played long enough for this one event to have taken place. I suppose from now on I will understand it will happen, but being as this is the first to have happened during my short Neverwinter career it was new to me.

What'd be nice is if the staff would see people complaining about the same stuff every event, and take steps to address it. :)

There's always the event NPCs left up for a few days after the event so you can redeem your Event currencies.

You can still turn in any saved Writ of Commendation for the event coins. You will still be able to claim any Defense Supplies being made in Professions. You can still buy Defense Supplies from AH.

At least this time it's not scheduled for 3 hrs on maintenance starting an hour earlier than normal.

I have a pretty good understanding of why events end with maintenance. Environments needs to shut down, NPCs need to be changed, and in the seige case, the Enclave needs to be rehabilitated. So it makes perfect sense to end an event with the regularly scheduled maintenance.
I think the better request would be to ask that events end at 7am Thursday, at the beginning of Maintenance. It's really just a play on words.

I cant log-in after maintenance begins, at that point it doesn't matter what the actual time is. No matter what the Devs put as the end ov the event, I know its over when Maintenance starts.

And, BTW, I logged in a char, at 6:57 am this morning to Invoke. Just sayin'.

So indefense of the Devs, remember, all events need to end with maintenance. That's how the it gets changed.
I also read that there was no patch scheduled today.

Thank Devs for your hard work!

I posted a similar thread, sorry didn't see yours. I don't know what the deal is but I've always been able to log in and finish events in the last moment up until the last one - winter festival. Maybe it was because every other old event did not end on Thursday? I don't really know but these last two were the first ones I saw end early because of maintenance. And I agree, if an event says it has 23 hours left then it should last for 23 hours, not 17 or 18 and then maintenance. They need to update their in game clock/calendar to reflect how much "actual" time we have left to play the events. I feel bad for you, I remember last year I got one whole box and got it on the very last morning of the event like you were going to. I don't know why this is now changed where you can't finish the event in the morning like you used to be able to do.

Actually, most Event Times have gone through maintenance. Just sometimes maintenance gets done before the event ends. Sometimes not. Always expect Maintenance at 7am PST on Thursdays and expect it to last at least 2 hours. This has been the normal maintenance time for, shoot... a very long time in retrospect.

Yeah I'm just new. Didn't know, oh well. Hopefully server goes up in time to kill a couple dragons for a final Daily. 9:03, still not up haha. I'll keep refreshing, even told the company owner "Listen dude, if this server goes up, I need to kill some Dragons. We can count that as my break right?"

And don't expect to be able to use your defense supplies after the event ends. Got stung by this last time, fortunately I saved them and used them this time around and made sure I got it done before maintenance because we all know the server won't be up until after the ends as per the last 4 weeks.

Can't the events start a day later and end a day later? Or just add these 2 hour of maintenance to the event so everyone can do the last run or something? Same was with winter festival, maintenance on last day, the last day I needed to get that sprite companion for my main, but no! Maintenance :(

But maintenance is always Thursday morning, so if you live someplace where signing in before 7 am PST is unreasonable, just subtract that last day from the event for yourself.

Using maintenance to patch the game to add/remove the event makes total sense, and it's not going to change.

And last I checked, there were dozens of ice sprites on the AH for under 10k AD, under 5k nearer to the Winter Festival itself. Just buy one.

Has the event really ended, I thought it would run for an hour or so after the down time? At least that's what it looked like when I looked at the timer yesterday, did they just end the event before the timer had run down?

The event time should be extended if there is downtime? If servers down for 3hrs, then add 3hrs to the event timer?

Yep, planning has always been this poor. For every event.

Seems like an easy thing to move either the end of the event, or the maintenance window. Upsets players every time.

Sure, but that's not exactly what they are doing. The event is still officially live per the published event times when maintenance starts. If they start the event three hours earlier and end it when maintenance starts, problem solved. Zero confusion. Full advertised duration of the event available.

They always plan maintenance so that it cuts off the end of the advertised event duration.

Phew. Server opened up w/ 16 minutes left on the Siege. Glad I have great job security and was able to spam refresh the Gateway until I knew it opened. Was able to get my last daily done in a couple Cult assaults and got my Archer :) All is right with the world

I mean yeah the bandwidth at wrk isn't what I have at home, but my work rig is a gaming rig, and I brought my laptop with me to use that anyway

Well, the event technically does not START until maintenance ends and they obviously set it to exactly 1 week duration, therefore event ends at the same time it started, but 1 week later. Obviously, they could code it so that all events are extended by however long a maintenance downtime lasts, but it is minor detail and unlikely they will bother with it.

You cannot exchange the defense supplies for the token you need in order to get the box. That npc is gone, he was in the event zone and the rewards guy in the protectors enclave will not exchange the defense supplies for that little medal token so there's really no point in having the merchant there anyway.

And unfortunately I do not have access to a pc at work. Took an early lunch this morning but only had 2 min left, by the time my stupid crafting windows came up it was over. That's another thing, your crafting used to be instant, when the timer was down to zero it would pop up, now it stays grey for about 30 seconds to a minute. Most of my guys have every slot unlocked so I have to wait 10 to 20 seconds for each one to turn green so I can click on them and by the time it got to defense supplies the event was over. I have enough supplies for the 7 tokens I need but cannot exchange them now.

Exaggerate much? There is a reason to have the merchant, because it sells other items which can be purchased with the other tokens you were awarded during the event.
