Just started playing the game a week ago. I got a gwf and a cleric to 60 in that time thanks to the 2x XP.
My question is upon progression. I did all the quest to locations but trying to figure out the progression of the game. Where to go and what to do. I have been doing the Epic dungeons but that sort of fails as everybody wants these so called greed runs and I don't agree they boot me. Go figure I guess these people don't realize new players do exist.
I started the dragon quest is the grave yard and gotten my first boon. Lost on other stuff for progression from the other modules. Are people still doing those or can they even be done now?
Played Everquest for so many years don't know if its the same type of progression here. Cant do this section unless you done here.

You can progress on boons in 3 different campaigns simultaneously: Sharandar, Dread Ring and Tyranny of Dragons. With only two characters you might be able to keep up on all three, but just do as many dailies as you're comfortable with. Also use the 6-day campaign chest from daily invoking to help you complete the boons more quickly.
You will need to complete 3 boons in one campaign to unlock Icewind Dale - and it would be worthwhile for you, if only to unlock the class artifacts, since GWF and DC artifacts are great for many classes.
As for dungeons, use this command: /channel_join NW_Legit_Community
The people in this channel do not care about your gearscore, and don't ask for speed runs. If you feel qualified to run a dungeon, they will take you -- just tell people if it's your first time through the dungeon.
you will get your drop in the final dungeon chest so when people say "greed run" that is just in the remote possibility than something drop from bosses.
i suggest you to play only the char you like more, i suggest you the cleric which is **** good in pvp and pve right now.
Someone says GWF is underperforming in pve, i just find it boooring as hell.
you however dont have wasted your time leveling two toons: keep leadership profession high on everyone for a bit of free astral diamonds.
Farm the normal 10k requirement skirmish (the one with dragon, i always forget the name shores of tuern?) to find some good rings.
Dont try pvp until you feel like somewhat competitive.
Reached 13k-14k GS try tiamat to farm your mainhand artifact and necklace ( you will need 30 successful runs for both)
Until then buy some cheap purple stuff at the Auction house.
For dungeons: i suggest you to either buy the best set for your class from AH ( those are cheap enough ) or do the dungeons (cause those are the best thing in game).
To do this: join nw_legit_community they never get bored of older contents or find a more or less little guild. Bigger ones are usually composed by seasoned players not always willing to help little ones.
There's a 10% to get what you need in the chest for t1 and t2 pieces. That is bound, while the boss drop is boe and was worth a lot more. Greed was the fair way to do runs as everyone had an equal chance got an equal value drop and could sell it for a lot of AD. Prices bombed so it sort of doesn't really matter, but yeah you should aim to get what you need in the chest during DD or with a DD key (you can decline what you dont want).
Some classes have more valuable drops than others, so there's no reason to punish the GF who wanted to sell his stuff than the SW who got much more valuable stuff at the time when they all contributed to the run. Plus people who don't need the drops deserve something too. The drop is pretty much all they can get of value, and so should (unless a need run) be given to all players with an equal chance. Not sure things have changed, but if an item is bop and you want it, people would be expected to need on that.
I also recommend joining a guild.

To be fair, asking mostly pugs, as most don't know each other in legit like guildies would, to need vs greed to let a new player get something while they get nothing in a game with boe epics is never going to happen. Epics should have been btcoa in every form from release for the loot system to work.
One thing that makes dread ring easier is that you only have to do the weekly quest and the mini dungeon of the day to progress the boons. Mini dungeon only takes about 10 minutes total from the time you enter the zone to completion. Easiest campaign, and the mini dungeons are fun.
Sharandar isn't that bad. You just have to keep unlocking the zones for it, so put your effort there. Unlike dread, you do not at all need to do the sharandar mini dungeons. So it is kind of the opposite of dread. Also, it will take about twice to three times as long even by doing it the fastest way. Use your prayer box day 6 celestial reward to cut down on sharandar time. Saves about a week or so if you open them whenver you're able to.
Once you do enough of the dread ring or tyranny of dragons to open up iwd, the only one you really need to do every day is needless distractions and the weekly one for 50 coins. The others you can do only as many as you need to unlock the second zone or the particular boon of choice. But you do not have to do all of the quests every day to progress in reputation, which is most important to progressing the campaign. So definitely do needless distractions every day and then just enough of the other quests to get the things you need.
Best advice is to not be in a hurry, though. If you take your time and use the 'shortcuts' I just suggested, you will find all dailies pretty fun, and you will learn your class as you progress.
Also, as soon as you can, unlock valindra's tower, malabog's castle, and shores of tuern and lair of lostmauth. Those are dungeons people are eventually doing the most for fun. Best non-artifact weapons drop from valindra's tower, so work that first, I would say. It's also my favorite dungeon in the game.
That's a lot of zen though for something that you can easily earn in game. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Easy sure but painfully boring. For me anyways. Its like watching a 30 hour romantic movie marathon with your girlfriend just to get a backrub. And you have to watch and not sleep or text or not pay attention. Ugh. The thought gives me chills.

Philosophical difference then. To me it's paying money to not play the game that I play for fun. If I was going to pay to not do something, it wouldn't be something I was doing for fun if that makes sense.
For fights, damage, play the DC. This game is not like EverQuest.
I can see that as my Tank in EQ I was glued to the boss. Here I'm more grab everything and keep it away from everybody as they burn down the boss.
On my cleric I am expected to DPS and heal and in eq I was mainly heal and don't DPS.
I just know when I hit 60 a ton of new quest opened and I was like where to start. I don't PVP at all as perma stun lock 2 hit kills don't fly right with me.
Hi. I am also new to the game. I tried making my own thread but it dident work.. still dosent.
I have been level 60 for almost a week or so i think and i have done tiamat a few times and bought my T2 gear. I got some tips from a friend to start getting my boons and all. But it seems so endless and i was wondering, since my friend dosent really know, what the endgame is?
Is tiamat the last boss in this game? because i have already done it lol i have only been lvl 60 for so short time. Is there any point in getting my boons? or can someone enlighten me to what i can do

Tiamat is the latest boss. Not the hardest though. If you like the game, you should get your boons. There is plenty for a level 60 to do in the game. Many of us have had multiple level 60s for nearly 2 years.

I really only enjoy pvp and some well of dragons, but content gets really old for me really fast. Sharandar for me wasn't fun the first time around and was outright painful doing those quests dozens and dozens of times.

Didnt read any other posts, so sorry if this is repetitive. I have leveled 6 characters to 60 myself BTW.
If you only have 20 minutes a day to play, do your dailies for the boons. This includes:
Sharandar/Dread Ring/Tyranny of Dragons
For the module 3 (IceWind Dale) Once you can do those, the BIS gear will actually come from there, so thats more important than doing dungeons. You DONT have to do all the quests, just enough to get the progress to complete the reputation gain for the daily progress there.
If you have free time from all of those dailies. Then I would do 1 GG pvp game. Even if you dont PVP here is why:
1) If you accept Rhix's daily quest to just participate in GG, you get AD + a Seal of Triumph.
2) In the Trade of Blade you can get another quest for winning a game. GG counts as a win.
When you win GG you get like 700 glory and like 7 GG coins. GG coins can be exchanged for glory.
Each day you can get 2x Seals and easily a few thousand glory(if you PVP) if you dont, you can exchange GG coins for glory and you get glory for GG.
You can use these to buy the Tier 2 (probably best bang for buck IMO without PVP farming) PVP gear. This also has great stats and good set bonuses for most classes. Feel free to even mix TWO 2pc set bonuses, GWFs for instance 2pc set bonus is 1800 HP so you can get 2pc Sentinel and 2pc Destroyer sets and get an extra 3600 HP. This "Grim" PVP gear will last until you get your black Ice gear. Yes its not bad for PVE.

I have to disagree on some of this BI gear is not BiS for most classes unless perhaps you are only talking about pvp. The other thing is that IIRC you can no longer get pvp gear with grim coins. You can get the original grim gear still for just the coins, but it doesn't have tenacity on it so it isn't really pvp gear any longer imo.
