i just barely break 1,000 lights today, with less than 3 days, it is impossible at my current situation.

it seem it would required 20 coffee pots to keep me awake for next 3 days.
and this is asking me to get severe burnout.

i see no way to get that fawn.

i prefer Summer festival/Harvest festival, since they use different math formula, and barely left some extras.

this Winter Festival would had started 2-3 weeks ago, starting last week is pushing too hard and with these last few days before Christmas Holiday days with shopping, work late hours, cooking dinner and having companies visitings leave me very little time for myself.
this holiday is very harsh and most stressful times and lot of pressures, and adding more stress to earn 3k or more isnt fun or relaxing.

now the way i see it, earning 1k lights and they go away within 30 days and i had work for nothing and not feastiable to plan for next year, it just plain sux and feeling raw hurts all over again.

i have tried giftings, fishing, and do some races and mobs on ice, and it is very cut-throat to stay in top 5 players, i see no other way or short cut with Zen Market for special "Sirmil" boxes and we dont have it.

right now, i am very extremely tired and exhausted, and fed up, and taking a break, knowing that i will lose those 1k lights within 30 days.

OP the winter event goes till like the 8th of Jan. In 3 days it turns into the "winter zenith?", last year things got doubled, like you got 2 star of fortunes per day, those lights dropped in higher #s etc etc. So you have actually 10-11 days. But yes grinding those are not very fun, at least for me.

What that guy said above. "Do 5-10 Pirate kings. sell the loot and buy the pet. Done and dusted.". Probably is the best idea if you are getting sick of farming the lights, Id much prefer to do dungeons than sit at a hole.

And losing them in 30 days is pretty shiza, they didnt tell us last year so I was really sad, since I never got to turn mine in. But if they add stuff that wasnt available last year sort of, kind of, maybe understand.

People reach 80k simril lights in a day and then sell several mimics, sprites, fawns and runestones in AH.

That'd be the Zenith of the Winter Festival (x2 event rewards) starting immediately after Winter Festival - check calendar.

Also, Star of Fortunes can be traded for Shower of Lights (gives 220 Light of Simril)

Or the easiest way: Shower of Lights. They can be bought when zenit starts.

Get a purple pole, get purple bait, sit at one hole and hit f. Kill skele when needed and watch a movie while you farm.

Oh don't get me wrong it's brainmelting, but it gets you lights pretty quickly.

And make sure you spend every last one of your event currency because they'll just erase it and you cannot save any for next year.

At last glance, all the rewards for the Winter Festival are less than 50k AD on the Auction House. You might even be able to get a couple of things and only spend 50k. As the event goes on, they should get even cheaper as more flood the market. It's an alternative to grinding out the fishing, and you can work on leveling them sooner.

A Sabiki Rig with a purple pole can get you over 100 lights a pop when you trade in your fish. If that helps ya.

I like to farm the cool stuff i can get from the event. I mean.. it is easy to buy them, but to earn something you really want is one of the best things in a game i can think of.

So to farm your Simril Lights you need a purple pole and the sabiki bait which is really cheap in the auctionhouse to buy. Then you go fishing. If an Event occures besides fishing you make a short break and participate one time to get a minimum score in it. This means you get 9 simril lights in addition, not much but every light can help.
When it comes to the fishing event you are most likely to win it with the purple pole and the sabiki bait which grants you additional 45 simril lights.
After 2-3 hours of farming you should have enough fish to get you an companion or an mount for the lights.

Tipp: If you want extra refining points and has no problem with slowing down your simril lights ratio participate in the "Monster on Ice" Event with Dragon Hoard Enchantments. I got several black opals, perfect saphires and tons of other refinement stuff out of it.

I really like the Winter Event :D

6 Sabiki costs 100 zen which exchange for enough AD to buy both pets so essentially worthless.....

Um, Rigs are selling at only 600 AD in the AH - since you can get them from opening Parcels - a lot cheaper than the pets are.

I think what he's saying is that the 100zen you could buy 6 rigs for (yeah it'd be a lot cheaper to buy them with AD) can be converted into a lot more AD than the cost of the companions on the AH.

Fishing can be very tedious - you'll find no argument from me on that point. Having said that, I tend to simply save up my stars and trade them in for the companion at/during the zenith event.

    Advice on getting more lights:

    1) Save your Candlefish and Durgrace only. The Blackjaws and Brown Bream go ahead and turn in for lights now. Once Zennith starts on Jan 1 then cash in the other fish for lights.

    2) There are three dailies. If you can wait to do each one during an event time (fishing during Fishing Contest as example) then you will get lights from the event, and doing the dailies.

    3) I have been advised, on rumor, to also save the Gifts of Simril until Zennith to exchange as these are also supposed to give more lights then.

    4) Always have a full party IF you are going to go ahead and do a daily gift exchange.
