Abusive behavior in zone chat.

Problem:
People being rude and abusive in zone chat is something we are all familiar with.
However, since it's usually uncalled for, and could scare off new players (potential customers) asking "dumb questions" while trying to learn how to play the game, most (some?) of us would love to see this change.
I for one don't like being accused of being mentally challenged when I ask people how something works.

Suggestion 1:
When interacting with a person (pressing F while looking at them, or right-clicking their name in chat), one of the options could be "report person" which would take you to the "player behavior" menu found in "Request GM help".
Also, with enough complaints over a set period of time from different players, they would become muted from that particular channel.
I realise that this might seem like a weird suggestion, but it's not always so easy for these newcomers to figure out the @handle of another player, or maybe even figure out how to report them. This would probably help with that, and the threat of being muted could force people to behave, since their good nature won't do it for them.

There is however the obvious potential of abusing this, so if the menu had an upload option, where you could screen shot the chat and add it to the complaint, it could prevent that to some degree.

Suggestion 2
Adding a tag to each post in any channel, so you could report a particular comment is another option.

Suggestion 1 is already in game basically. Both suggestions would be highly open to abuse, requiring them to be reviewed (they do not have the manpower for that).

If you want a better experience...look at my signature and then leave zone chat for good. Are all the people int eh legit channel awesome and nice and polite? No. But I can tell you this without question - if it wasn't for that channel (NW_Community_Legit) I would have quit after a month or so. LFG, Trade and Zone chats are so poorly monitored and are generally so bad and useless, its almost comical. Relying on them for anything useful is a joke. The Legit channel will get you help for legit questions, will get you groups (if dungeons ever become relevant again I guess), and its just an overall better atmosphere (again, there are pricks everywhere, but there are less of them in legit).

Legit is good. Liberal application of the ignore function is aslo a pluss. I mean really in games or social media what have you there is almost always an ignore function. Just use it. Don't touch the poo, don't even look at the poo. Self censor your game experience.

As far as "dumb questions" asked by new players, I really wish they'd implement a help channel similar to what they had in City of Heroes.

Personally, I've turned off LFG, Zone, and Trade chat channels on most of my characters. Makes the game a much more pleasant place. :)

Please don't discuss wrongdoing or violating behavior on the forums. Report the player in question and let the GM staff handle the matter discreetly and anonymously. Thank you.
