Lately, I've been wondering if dungeons have any meaning now, I mean, since the Rise of Tiamat where T2 gear is so easily earned and are not BOP.... Prices have dropped significantly in the last week on the AH and it has become increasingly more difficult to find people to run dungeons. In my opinion, some major changes need to happen to 1. keep current players and 2. attract new players.
Here are some changes, that myself and fellow guild members came up with and thought they would help the longevity of the game.
1. Revamp the gear. I don't mean the stats, cosmetics, or anything like that, but make T1, T2, MC, VT, CN gear more like the artifact gear that has recently come out. So you run a dungeon, and the pit bosses, and the final boss most will drop shards and RP stones (black opals, flawless sapphire, ect.) and when you beat the boss and open the chest there are, not epic, but common items of that set. So now you have a choice, which set do I want to go for? (I'm going to use TR gear, because that is what I am) So you see the Master Duelist, Elusive Agent, Shadewalker bracers to choose from and it is only green, but it has the set bonus with it. So I choose the Master Duelist bracers and equip them. Now here is the interesting part (drumroll)...... The cake is a lie :P .... anyway as you gain XP by killing enemies doing dailies (oh the grinding XD) the Master Duelist bracers stats go up over time and eventually be epic. Now you could use RP stones to get the gear to epic faster, but as you play the game your equipment improves, over time. I believe this would put some emphasis back on running dungeons, with friends even, and improving your gear. Rather than getting your epic gear dirt cheap from AH or just running dungeons with OP groups till you get your set piece. Because once you get your set, the game loses it D&D feel and turns into the I must grind these dailies, mindlessly, for months to get my boons. And who doesn't love the daily grinding for a boon (sarcasm)..
With that said, I do love the current artifact main and off hand idea. just love being able to boost the passive powers. really good concept! And same thought with Jewelcrafting, I like what they have done there.
2. More dungeons! Where are the dungeons like CN? even MC and VT are fun to run. Recently, Mod 3, 4 & 5, no significant dungeons have been released. eLoL is okay, but you can do it in like 10 minutes. A lot of good concepts and ideas and making it useful to have a variety of classes in a group, but overall kind of boring and short. I give it a 4/10. I consider eLoL a skirmish with how short it is. Instead of only offering dailies to complete the boons, have multiple dungeons, good dungeons. Interactive and fun to play.
So you have Mod 6, assuming here, in a couple months. Whatever the overarching concept for it is, release like a dungeon a month that requires teamwork, strategy and is fun to play. So using Mod 4 and Tiamat, they have the the dragon books needed for boons 4-7. Jumping forward now, this is great idea, but you know what would be better? If you didn't have to grind for 100 sigils and scrolls to get the book. I know it dropped sometimes from SoT and such, but do the dailies to get campaign currency so that you unlock a dungeon and a key for chest. At 20% chance of acquiring the book for the boon out of chest is doable. You may not get the first couple times, but with enough grinding, of dungeons with friends.... or PUGs, you could get get the boon and not have to grind dailies for months on end. So you collect these books from new dungeons, that lead up to the new module. Where the culmination of all the dungeons come together for a raid that takes more than 20 mins... and requires more than zerg.... and for gods sake, be able to enter the raid with a 25 person pre-made group. Make use of guilds, make a function so that a guild can have a group of 25 with 5 parties of 5 people.
I realize those two items are pretty major changes, but would be steps in right direction, IMO. I know a couple people, who have played the game since beta and are now looking for new game, because of lack of dungeons, no real need for guild other than to be friends, but that is what a friends list is for.... Hopefully Cryptic reads this and does some brainstorming....
t2s are useles. Even DV is, which people used to run for titles. MC is completely no use especially with the lag that dungeon has. I only ran it for my set. Same with VT, players run it for free set of the weapons.
My suggestions are:
1) Make chest piece drop from Valindra BOE
2) Add main hand/off hand BOE drop for each class to her loot tables
3) Add greater marks of to the loot table for MC last boss. Plus maybe BOE drop of main/off hand too. Or even chest piece?
4) Revamp t2s, add new difficulty and new improved sets of current t2s. (basically what OP said )

Very true, I never had a guild which I would consider "mine". I mean, I never felt like a part of one...always done everything on my own so just switched to solo play. Literally I see no reason to start looking for any guild. They simply give you nothing besides some new ingame friends or I don't know...that thing people call "having fun together?" Such vague stuff, at least when it comes to the MMO for me. (I don't talk about PvP guilds by the way, those are different)
And now as t2s become trash and we can't play tiamat with our friends/guildmates...mmo?

1. Nooooooo. What you're describing is artifact versions of the current armor sets. Implementing something like this will surely kill the game. Everyone is fed up with all the artifacts. Sure, ranking up artifacts with XP is a good alternative, but it will take almost as long as ranking them up with the current system. Also, artifact armor set pieces will require the same amount of rp as other artifact pieces, and i bet that if they will ever allow ranking up artifacts with xp the exchange rate will be ~1rp/10xp or less, so doing every daily in every possible zone will still net you less rp than if you would use that time to kill everything in your way while you have dragon hoards equiped.
2. More dungeons with CN-like loot tables and that can't be completed by someone the day (s)he hit 60 is something a lot of us are asking for for a long time. Don't see it happening anytime soon though. The new direction seems to be easy dungeons if any, dailies, HEs, and RNG loot.
I'm sure I'll get shelled for this, but IMO, the time has come to tweak the existing dungeons to where they can be scaled to be able to be solo'd. Use the content as daily opportunities for folks. With this would come a greatly reduced reward. It would be "new" content for those that aren't/haven't been inclined to run the group content before. Low hanging fruit.
Those dungeons were long since killed off, mostly by the elitist GS snobbery of people who ran them. If you were the wrong class or didn't meet a leader-imposed GS standard then /boot. That's why those dungeons are irrelevant to most players. T2s dropping from Tiamat is a great decision imho. With a combination of random drops from the encounter and low, low prices on the AH I've already accumulated two full sets of alternative CW armour (and learned that I don't like them hehe) and I have tucked away some part sets for my alts when they first ding 60.
Of course those sets have mostly been superseded now, as is the nature of long-running games like this. We all clamour for new content and upgrades but then complain when we out-level the older stuff. One of these days I'll go back to some of those dungeons and see if I can solo them.
Oh, and am I the only one who LOVES the artifact equipment and doesn't feel the need to max all of them out in the shortest possible time? Yes, I'm saving RP for the double weekend but after that I'll happily just drip feed them my drops forever.
I like the idea of the dungeons having a solid drop rate of some higher tier RP items. (opals, blood rubies, diamonds, resonance stones, etc) With the increasing amount of need for RP for your artifact gear, artifacts, enchants, etc. It would be a great motivation to do all of the dungeons if there was a nice RP reward like that from them.
Doing content with the chance to better your gear, that is why we like to play the games after all right? This would help keep the social aspect interesting rather than go out farm random mobs non stop for resonance stacks or AH / Zen store prices only etc.
Right now IMO the game is not alt friendly any more. I used to love playing my alts, but the thought of having to gear up artifact gear for all of them is stressful at best. I don't have the time to grind my main up to golds yet on all, let alone think about alts.

IMO, I think you are completely wrong with T2 sets being "long killed off." A good many clerics run with the High Prophet, which is T1. I used a T1 set (Master Duelist) for the longest time. well into 17k GS. It's not the gear that makes the player, but the player that uses the gear to their style. This is accomplished by using the set bonuses. I have almost every armor set acquired for the TR and I choose to run with the Profound Executioner for PvE, even though it is a PvP set, because of the set bonus it provides. 33% more stealth and 7.5% more damage while stealthed. Amazing for PvE. I have full Black Ice & Draconic Armor don't like em' because of the set bonus. I will take a lower gear score to a higher one if the set bonus is better for me and my play style. And with the new "remodeling" of the TR I am now able to go toe to toe with CWs in CN for damage and such. Thanks for that Cryptic
And I don't mind if they drop T2 in Tiamat, but at least make it BOA. Make people earn their gear, at least a little.

Are you against working for to better your gear? I agree that if the rate was 1/10 it would still be painful, but if it was 1/1 would that be as bad? I am a casual gamer, couple hours a night after work and couple more on weekend, and I am averaging the 250k exp rollover every two to three weeks. That would be a good rate to lvl your equipment, and it's not like you would be taking your armor set to legendary. It would only go to epic (lvl 35). I would think within a month to a month and a half a casual gamer would be able to get their set to epic.
People love to feel like they have accomplished stuff( i.e. acquiring set, leveling artifacts, getting rank 10 enchants) what better way to make gamers feel accomplished than to take a green item and get it to epic just by playing the game, running dungeons/raids, and doing occasional dailies.
These are just my suggestions, I felt like changes need to be made to keep players interested in the game and not switch (that would be bad business model for Cyptic) otherwise I think we will see commercials like WoW "Instantly boost to lvl 90!" XD

Most players are hypnotized doing Tiamat, until they are done farming their 7th bonus, it's when they will realise that there's nothing else to do, Tiamat skirmish isn't rewarding and people won't go there anymore. People is asking for legendary dungeons which is cool, I would love to run Clock Tower and Throne of Idris (old dungeons) i.e filled with mobs that can't be cc'ed and are also resistant to radiant, physical, necrotic dmg, etc and these resistances could be random generated so we don't know what are we going to face in that dungeon, also we receive twice or three times the damage, mobs/elites/bosses that can't receive critical hits so we could change our vorpals to something else and of course better rewards
Meh. 7th boon can wait until they change the instance que for me. I already have everything I want to spend Linu on. I did speed run a few T2s today because I am really really sick of murdering dragons. Oddly it is more AD/ hour than 'end game' content. The drops are at least as good as Tiamat (less Linu) and it takes less than half as much time. It is sad from the perspective that running dungeons was, for most of us, the way we learned party-play and character dynamics. So for anyone new to Neverwinter the game is over a month or so after you start.
This is part of the problem with GS inflation and/or clunky class and dungeon mechanics: the other "epic" dungeons become just farm-fests. I was kicked from a PK group because I wasn't willing to cheat: let the TR run ahead to the final campfire, then use GM help, claim I can't progress, abandon the quest, then return to instance at his campfire. Apparently running to the campfire wastes too much time.
I'd rather be kicked than stoop to that level, but it also tells me that the dungeon difficulty should scale with player capabilities (and perhaps the rewards as well).

Having harder versions of the currently existing t1 and t2 dungeons with interesting chest rewards like higher level refining items (black opals) would be the best way to get people to play the extremely fun older content. I spent hardly any time in the t1 content, and there are some fun dungeons there. Give them a legendary status with increased enemy difficulty, and you'd have a bunch of happy dungeon delvers.
