I might not be entirely correct but from what I remember, everything that is not bound (up until tomorrow) will stay unbound. So everything that is picked up after mod 5 goes live, will be bound.
All enchantments and other items that give RP dropped through Fey Blessing, Dragon Hoard and Tymora's Blessing enchantments are now Bound to Account. This change is not retroactive.
What's vague about saying that the change isn't retroactive? Your items in the mail should not be bound.
Remember also the only refining resources that become bound at all are those dropped from special items like the Dragon Hoard Enchantment, etc. All other "normal" drops will not become bound. And nothing is retroactive, meaning if it's not bound right now it will not become bound later.
At least this is how it was stated in patch notes. In reality, anything can happen. LOL
Making the Peridot and other refining items bound on pickup is going to cripple leveling artifact items. No more farming these items and no more buying on the AH (once the last of them sell out). The whales will be fine as they have plenty of money to spend.
We shall se how it goes, but this single change might cause me to lose interest in NW. Being a casual player is hard enough as it is.

Yep, see the mess with Barkshield enchants, which have been hit or miss since they were introduced
Yep and gg gear from going from boe to bop, lots of people wanted to make a profit from those and boom. Then there's the midsummers feast mess and well I took up 3-4 mule guild bank tabs with rp items as a safety precaution so that my main can at least withdraw them in the worst case scenario.
I wouldn't bet on that... one of the flaws they have (IMO - as a avid supporter of DRY coding methodology) is that there are tons of "the same" items that are, in reality, completely separate configuration files. It's why we see weird bugs sometimes where items of X type you get from one place are broken or otherwise not working consistently with all the other items of X type out there.
In the end, the changes they are making are crippling to refinement. Fear is warranted by those who dont already have their stash packed full
Well, refinement of Artifacts, etc. with the big-ticket RP items (stones, etc.,) yes. But not for all the other everyday enchantment/runestone stuff. I am only trying to clarify the distinction, which some forum readers may not realize there is.
So the example is: White Pearl drops from dead mob (or found in skill kit, etc.) = unbound as always; White Pearl drops from Dragon Hoard Enchantment = Account Bound. This is the difference. Though admittedly, these kind of resources do drop from enchantments a lot more often than anything else.

Didn't catch/read that quote.
It's clear now.

The item ID for the old items is the same.

Why do so many people throw-out the fear-mongering shrill panic'd anger when they only need to actually *pay attention* to what they're reading?

Mail... right... not boting accounts right?
It's their track record. Too many times they say one thing, and even believe or try to do that, yet the results are different.
Until we see what they actually did, there is no way to take them at their word.
Personally, I (as should everyone) "fear" every patch they do.
