Control Wizard vs Warlock?

Heya!

New to the game! Trying to decide on a class. CW and Warlock are my top two picks, but having a hard time choosing between the two.

I'm normally enjoy playing the "nuking" class. AOE damage is my favorite kind of damage! Which provides the better AOE options?

I also enjoy flashy classes. I like to look like power! Calling down meteors, freezing the Earth, cursing hordes of enemies, ect. Special effects and such!

What're are biggest differences between the two classes?

Any info/help is greatly appreciated!

    Are you PvP or PvE?

    As a CW you'll definitely not see DA POWA, just you freezing your foes to death. I think Elsa from Frozen uses more arcane powers than us.

    But yea, CW is the 'hard AoE' class.

    As a SW your powers are really cool and you deal a really massive damage, specially on cleaves with TT; but there's not much AoE on SWs in comparison to CWs.

    Both are fun, and both can do a lot of AOE damage. CW has great control as well as nuking ability, while SW has the option to spec as an off-healer as well as dps. If you have a preference for particular elements, CWs deal do a lot of arcane and frost damage, with an option to spec for fire or lightning as well. SW deal mostly in fire and necrotic.

    Both are a lot of fun, and you probably can't go wrong either way. CWs are generally considered the kings of PVE, though SW is no slouch. I don't PVP much, so you'd have to ask others about their relative strengths in that arena.

    Thank you both for your answers!! I think ultimately, I'll have both classes. But, decided to create a SW for my first character! I'll mostly PvE, but do some PvP as well. At least, that's the plan!

    And, saying Elsa has more arcane power was hilarious, and played a decent amount in my choice of picking SW! Haha. Thanks!

    CW will be in a very hard spot in module 5.

    SW on the other hand is still a mystery class, we'll wait to see SoulBinder to confirm..
