has anyone had this problem?

I have a ticket submitted but I thought maybe someone has had the same and could tell me how to fix it rather than waiting for tech support. Any help would be greatly appreciated. When I click on the shortcut or open thru arc or click on the app in the folder the launcher comes up with just a black screen that says "loading please wait" and just stays there.
It has worked occasionally (2 or 3 times) since it started happening and maybe it's just a coincidence but it started during the log in server being down. Never had this problem before and haven't changed anything on my pc.
oh wait when I clk on the app in the live folder the client comes up with the main login page but just cycles back to the main login screen after a few minutes, no "cant contact the server", just back to the login
I'm hoping someone had this problem before me and knows what to do

    okay I set my compatibility to recommended settings (windows xp) and it works now so far

    I am having a similar issue all of the sudden. Was playing fine last night, changed NO settings and have no firewall issues, but now when I log on all I get is a black screen. I can hear the music and can hear my character responding when I press action keys, but nothing to see. I'M BLIND!

    Help? Am using the default settings... running Win 7 home premium...

    Have you run a windows update since the problem started? Could be an OS issue. If this is true try running a system restore back to a point before you started having this issue.

    If this isn't it maybe you should try rebooting (seriously) and if that doesn't work uninstall and then reinstall neverwinter.

    If THAT doesn't work try updating your video card drivers.

    Gah! I have not run a windows update... I will byut have a sneaking supicion this is not the case. I shut the puter down earlier and will try to re-boot it later. If that doesn't work I'll try the drivers, but I just updated them recently and believe I have the most current.

    What a pain in the backside... STO works like a charm... it only seems to be an issue with NWN.
