Assuming people have been religiously doing it since the 14th and set their alarm for every 20 hours, the earliest that the Lair will be open for a single person will most likely be the 1st, otherwise daily would be the 2nd, which is when I will be able to unlock them.

i just noticed that in the description it says that you have to have unlocked the portal to tuern in icewind dale before you can do this mission,do you know what it is?

There are quite a few of us that have it unlocked on the Preview Shard. :o

is it any harder than the rest of the dungeons or is it possible with a normal group?

Yes if you consider walking in the park a death trap.
I have played this dungeon on preview and not long before mod 4 came out and it was unbelievably hard.
I was running with people that had full r10's and perfect weapon/armour enchants and it was a really nice challenge.
Yes it is hard and yes it is beatable. I love this dungeon and will be a challenge for all in the T3 version.

There are some hard uncontrollable adds than target random players, so you adjust accordingly. End fight is a matter of experience and knowing how to dodge the nuke if you don't have a GF.

It's far worse than a knightmare. You'll need legions of Girl Scouts to help you through. So Just stay home, bar you doors and windows and hide under your bed.

Although it seemed easy enough with everyone having maxed gear. ;)

The adds and bosses before the last boss are hard hitting but apart from that easy with control/damage. The last boss was pretty hard with you requiring decent reactions (just don't lag...) but not impossibly so. Plus we didn't have a dc or gf which would have made it easier. I did need to have shield on tab for my cw though. There's a lot going on to be aware of, if you can avoid all of the obstacles then you can even solo the last boss given time.

The dungeon is really short, so sacrificing a bit DPS for extra tankiness is generally a good idea in LoL. Grab your DC and GF (mandatory in Mod4 anyway) plus three random party (no TR) and the dungeon is very completable.
The new skirmish can be completed through the queue system.

When you kill the Dragon in the HE in Whispering caverns when you get to that part of the campaign you get a really annoying movie sequence , listen to what that guy is saying and he goes on about opening the portal of tuern so I think that is it and the tooltip says IWD instead of Whispering caverns , no quest from that part of the campaign has sent me anywhere near to IWD.

20 hours for the dungeon key, I assume the same for the skirmish key. Btw if anyone wants to group up in the next few days, I'm a cw with it unlocked so you can pm me at my handle (same as username).

Not tried the skirmish on live. I went for dungeon. It's 15 mins and easy with a good group. If the group isn't as good you may suffer from some of the hard hitters. As a cw I didn't have to worry about barely anything with a good gf dealing with everything of danger. Hopefully they'll change the bop stuff to boe, I won't hold my breath. Otherwise people will probably stop bothering with the game once the newness wears off. For now it seems decent, though also disappointing with traps doing next to nothing and a wave of level 20 enemies at the end. No idea if they're planning on changing those. I did get a dragon gem first time with the arcane key though :). I like the effects of the dungeon especially the traps, but if it does nothing then its kind of a wasted effect. Especially when you can just run across the lava instead of dodging the incoming fireballs of (not so) doom.

Based on your experience, do you think this could rival Castle Never or do you think the dungeon will die fast like the 2 previous expansion dungeons?

Hovering over the loot in the chests it says boe. When receiving it, apart from the gem and other rare stuff it's bop. The gem will fall in price, the artifact and artifact belts will be super rare and so it will never rival what CN used to be. Now that CN is less profitable I don't see any reason to farm dungeons personally. If they changed it to be BoE that would definitely help. If not then it will probably get played for like a month and dropped. Since this is the norm players may just move onto another game rather than continuing to do campaigns to unlock a dungeon that has a limited lifespan. It's disappointing how they could easily make this such an awesome game that makes us enjoy constantly running. All we need is a constant feeling of progression and reward instead of new players getting less and less while some of the older players can expand their income via other ways. When mod 2 came, I feared the direction they were taking towards the players. Now I'm less bothered and hope players take note at how much we've been hammered. Though people did buy keys over the exchange rate when there was no backlog and buy MoP over the bazaar cost, so a lot of the player base may just take it not realising that other companies can provide so much better.

For now though, enjoy it for now. It's something new and nicely designed visual wise. But I'm hoping for an upcoming MMO to deliver what is wanted and what is needed instead of artificially halting progress in an unenjoyable and unrewarding way. Rare rewards can be cool and awesome to receive, but we need some form of reward for our work and bop does not cut it when some items cost too freaking much. I shouldn't feel more rewarded for doing leadership than playing the game.

Ugh so it is BoP despite saying BoE ... they need to sort this broken tooltip problem out ,its so annoying getting a drop just to find it is BoP .

Uhm... just to be fair - there are BoE and BoP versions of at least some of the items (like the Draconic set) in the skirmish, and I assume in the dungeon too, . You get the BoP version from the chests (and the drop rate there seems reasonable), but the BoE items are boss drops.
    Hoping for improvements...
