of late in dwarf valley people are waiting for you to start a fight then running in an taking the quest item AKA free bound dwarfs and so on NOW if this registered for you as they take it not a prob BUT when i do all the work and then have to wait due to a dooshbag for it respawn why cant you just make it so if say i engage the mobs and said dooshbag takes the item it counts for me too. now i know some of you are going to say the normal response ( welcome to mmo's ) but that dose not make it right one quest took me over an hour due to the dooshbags..
and please put a mount kill zone around the travel gates and NPC's ppl going afk at them is a pain in the butt i could not hand in a quest for over an hour due to people standing ontop of NPC's and the bank too
sorry for grammar spelling punctuation but i am dyslexic i do my best sorry if it offends you
Agreed!
These days, when I hit the Dwarven Valley, I am in the habit of just clearing out a few of those groups of Trolls, both the Idols and bound Dwarves, just to make life easier for any Healers or Tanks that may happen to wander by.

It was like this in mod 1. People complained. It was like this in mod 2. People complained. It is like this is mod 3. People complain. It will be like this is mod 4.
I'm sorry this is happening to you, I agree 10000% that some ppl are just lame. But if this did not happen, think of how mind-bogglingly weird it would be. I actually go out of my way ingame to help people and run away before they can thank me for healing them or saving their butts from an overpull (or whatever) -- just to mess with their heads.
Random acts of kindness in an MMO can be a bizarre thing to experience, and it's fun to do as well. I guess my point here is to say "buck up, chief! Not everyone in the game is a HAMSTER."
i agree... this is annoying. they do have some quests that have shared tasks if someone contributes or is in the vicinity of said task completion but other things are not set up this way. you can try to be mindful of who is just standing around in an area waiting to snipe quest items but chances are you'll still run into this anyway. best thing to do is to yell at your computer, do not throw things at the monitor and move on to the next item.

This reminds me of something that happened way back during the first Beta Weekend:
I was running through Black Lake on my shiny new GF when I got in just a bit over my head. I finished off the fight, but found myself at only a couple of HP (and at this point Potions were both rare and expensive), so I was looking at a long and boring trudge back to a Campfire. Then a Cleric wandered through and just dropped a series of Heals on me before moving off, saving me about 20 min of Gametime. So i just typed up a quick "Thanks for the Heals" on Zone.
Well, Zone Chat just erupted.
Apparently I was the first person to say "Thank you" in Neverwinter. That's not a joke.
There were people who were confused, angry, and I swear, even a little FRIGHTENED by the ramifications of someone saying "Thank you" in an MMO. There was a solid five minutes of nothing but discussions of what the "Thank you" might mean for the Game.
I was, to say the least, a bit weirded out

this would be a nice debuff for those who steal quest items after you clear mobs from the vicinity. This debuff is in the game already with the fomorian witches turning people into random animals
Now they do. Patched due to complaints. See also some of the mod 1 ninja-able objectives.
Either quest ninja-ing is WAI, or Cryptic keeps making the same player enraging mistake over and over and over and over again for some reason.
I've heard it said somewhere on the forums i think that if you are standing close enough to them clicking on the guy you will get it as well with out having to click it you just have to be standing right next to it.
Well that could make the daily grind a little more difficult...
Not more difficult..just fewer to accept...but like i said, this game via the insane prices and professions leveling has taught me if nothing else..patience. If the Devs keep designing quests to motivate competition for the quest item like this...they are reaching out to invite that level of mind and player..the exploiter. Isnt it enough to deal with re exploiting via ADs ..now we deal with quest item exploiting ?? ( expliting anothers work to not only access the item to but to steal it! )

This isnt why i came to an online D&D
I meant more difficult it the way that say it will take more days to complete because you not picking up all the dailies like the sharandar ones for example, so i guess longer not really more difficult just more draw out and really its not even that big of a deal just move on to the next one might take you a few more mins to complete but better then having to wait days extra imho
I've heard it said somewhere on the forums i think that if you are standing close enough to them clicking on the guy you will get it as well with out having to click it you just have to be standing right next to it.
Perhaps...and if so why not allow only the initiator of battle to access the quest item and the others stands inside a ring..something like what exists that party members stand inside to activate the group travel action...make it CLEAR..there are many non professional gamers wanting to initiate themselves with the game that dont know enough to simple stand nearby...Devs..like wake up already
The lost on the pass quest mobs...when those d amn bears engage and u are off away from the quest location and you finally kill them, the goof is sitting there waiting for the final blow and access it..you have no chance to get there. How many nanoseconds did the Devs take to think about this ...if they even bothered.
I recommend you do the quest the day after it was issued.
Then most of the lamers already did it and can not interfere.
But....many good players are saying to self...screw this..this game is setup to motivate players to DO this...alriiighty then...game on.
If you are going to play hockey and most of the players are wearing skates...you either wear them yourself to equal the field so to speak or reconfigure your point of view and alter your motivations in the game..ie ...apply patience to the extent it borders on APATHY.
Here's the reason I don't do IWD dailies if I can help it. Maybe Briggins if I remember it refreshed. I'm forced to do them on a few characters because they haven't maxed out their power points yet, but other than that.. There's nothing in IWD "enticing" me to go there.
And I'm not even talking about BI gear and its horrible drop rate. It's just not a fun place to be. It looks awesome, mobs are challenging compared to what we've had before, and there's enough quests to keep the grinding from becoming too dull. But the players..they pretty much ruin any fun I might have had there.
I hear ya....and IF the Devs took back control of the game and designed it in such a way that didn't open the door for (quite possibly other MMO plants motivated to depleat the motivation of current players by stealing quests etc etc) player interference in such BASIC of ways, then you might be able to engage IWD and enjoy. Sure, there will always be those that want petty attention from more evolved people, but in this case the Devs have allowed the petty access to too much control.
Imagine if you ran a business and allowed your clients to be literally MUGGED while transacting NORMAL business??? How long would you be there.
It happens in the "valley" too with the "Lost on the Pass" quest - people "rescue" the scared NPCs while someone else is trying to kill the bears, mobs, etc.
This "stealing" of nodes in Module 4 is what I least liked about it (althought some other parts were a bit of grind). I don't recall any of the other modules having that programming - multiple people could affect the same game node. Wish they would remove this from Mod 4 , and ALL other future modules.

In fact I don't feel any regret for the game at all." looomis said, "I don't like people changing to alts and then bragging about their mains like schizophrenic role players."
I kinda could understand if this was mod1. Publishers are reasonable in expecting a certain respect among players. But they fixed a part of Sharandar because of the many complaints regarding this exact behavior. I honestly fail to see how you cannot take the abysmal level of respect people have -which already forced you to make changes elsewhere- into account when you're making a new module. It's basically history repeating itself. I'm a huge fan of the song but the fact it does isn't much fun.
Well I'll be honest, I've stolen a few troll idols. Because I did it before reading threads like this and realizing that the dev's didn't learn from previous issues and let it happen again.

and you arent alone, many choose to do this for 2 reasons; the "when in Rome thing" and, to send the message...if this game wants stealing quests to be an option, so be it....Voila...we can all be rogue thieves ....to the VERY player base that supports Its Existance..smart business huh?
If i can ride through a HE and not even get off my mount and earn 25 ADs 20 mins later when others have done the hard work...why the H ell cant the one that DID all the work in a quest rec'v the same, but in this case..the quest item or count. I could not care less if i tried if 500 people recv the quest reward from my PLAY...but I do care if they do and i DONT...Is this game INSANITY defined??
I know in Mod 4, the Disrupt Circle quest.....you could be busy fighting Char while someone is hitting all the circles around and you will get credit for them.
As I keep telling everyone, take the quest item as soon as it spawns, then fight the mob. If ninja was approaching, let him deal with the mob.

So it continues even into Mod 4...saweet
There will be other options considered by portions of the P base im sure as this stinks along...
Time to create a TR and use stealth and steal quest items...my way of PVP in a NON PVP setting..the act of true passive aggression...and cowardness ( in that i can perform an act against you..wherein you have zero capacity to respond.)
i think you misundestood that post you quoted. He is saying when others hit the circles you get credit. So it doesn't matter if somone is trying to "steal" the objective.

Ah ok...super Thanks for clarifying...That sounds very promising then.

After Im done my quests for the day I do however enjoy helping PCs clear the mobs quickly to prevent this..
I am in no hurry to get anywhere in this game...its just not setup for those in a rush
