game launcher doesn't come up

Hi! all
k so i was trying to start neverwinter (not through arc but trying to start the neverwinter game launcher)...but i've closed and restarted it 3 times now and all three times its the same thing:
after double-clicking game launcher i get a window saying "trying to update the launcher. please be patient. tried connecting 5 times."
and soon after that an error window pops up saying "unable to establish connection to patch server. please check your internet connection. if problem persists please contact technical support."
now if my internet connection wasnt working how am i online and typing this here now!?...and i also watched a few vid here and there...so im guessing theres not internet problem(s) on my side
please HELP!

i did download that .exe file mentioned there just in case.. should i replace it ?or is it an old file? (coz if i did that that might only increase mt troubles i guess..)

k well...this is stupid...it didnt work 4 times in a row and now after i post this here it opened up in 1 go!...guess the launcher is afraid of this forum or some mederator or mayb the devs...idk...but its fine for now i guess...
is/are there any procaution(s) or steps i should take in future should this connection error happen again and doesn't fix itself as mysteriously as right now!?..

I'm getting this too, again.
It happened last week (right after the patch) and a reinstall fixed it, but a couple of days ago the NW client was lagging badly so I shut it down rebooted and got the 'Trying to update the launcher please be patient' message
since then I've tried the new exe in the first post, resetting router, modem and computer, unistalling rebooting and reinstalling, but I keep getting the 'Trying to update the launcher please be patient' message
