when was the last time you had a match where teams were evenly balanced, and the match came down to the wire, or was at least competitive for a good while
i've noticed, in about the last 30 or so matches, i've had 1 or 2 that were what i would call competitive matches
the rest were 1000-200 wins or 200-1000 losses
what exactly is going on?
bad match making system?
lack of balance in classes?
lack of characters with higher tier enchantments?
for the most part, pvp dom matches are "fun", but this is getting kind of old
there's no real competitive nature to dom matches, it's mostly wreck or get wrecked
what if they added a mode that didn't take your personal gear into account and instead gave out standardized gear?
you could use this mode to get glory, perhaps at a slower rate, to gear up for "competitive" pvp matches
A standardized PvP mode would be the competitive mode as everyone would be on even ground, with none of this "buying power" nonsense we currently have. A good argument is that people enjoy power gains too much in MMO's to enjoy a mode where gains were not respected. My argument is that, the system will never notice that it's putting 7kgs people with 15kgs players, and if that 7kgs GWF is on your team, you lost.
The only problem with that is GS by itself is meaningless, players that have low gs usually have zero tenacity and also have low health. On top of that, enchantments contribute too much to a players performance. The best solution is also the least fun in a lot of ways, but calling domination competitive in it's current state is a joke.
I only pvp casually so I don't really care if its balanced or not. I just do it for some glory and some fun. I do enjoy domination matches and have had quite a few epic battles where the battle went down to the wire.

The ones to be blamed are those who, when the match is 150/70 and have died twice, afk and say it's meaningless to try. This has created a trend in behaviour and is killing domination matches.

This thread isn't about blame, as we can't do anything about how players play the game.
It has been about a week or two since I had a balanced match. It was very thrilling and kept going back and forth. One member on my team started suddenly complaining that he was bored, then he started insulting my TR because I was not a perma (making fun of me for being stupid because I only had 13 int and such nonsense). We were barely winning and the game was close to being over when this person decided that he would stay at the campfire because he was bored and because I was a "terrible tr" (even though I had most kills and kept backcapping and assisting on 1/2 when able and as needed). We lost and it was close even then with maybe a 5 point difference.
Yep, it was both an awesome and balanced match and a terrible one too because one player seemed to want it to be super easy or something.
Cryptic better start looking into fixing things in pvp so the matches are more balanced.
Ive been playing pvp in MMOs since Ultima online and havent stopped.
It seems every MMO company can't figure how to balance or please the PVP community and the pvp community ends up moving on.
We are at that crossroads now.
Once it stops being fun people stop playing.
Its already starting to look like a small handful of elites are chasing all other players from the game and eventually all there will be is a small handful of elites left playing the pvp section of this game.
Weeks ago. Maybe a month. I only pug, so I guess it decreases the odds. It's really rare though.
I have been playing less since I got into Chivarly, and am now playing the Archeage beta. But when I do play it's as lopsided as ever.
As for "what's going on here", I'm convinced the problem centers around how matchmaking handles partial premades. I believe it puts them together and then searches for a premade team to set them against. When it doesn't find one in a reasonable time, it just throws them against pugs.
What would help a lot is if when that time comes when it's going to start the match, it would separate the two partial premades it had put together and put them on opposite sides, and filled in the gaps with puggers.
easy the reason is the Lack of player interested in PVP, playing only for dailies and not caring about improving. It's not gonna change unless they make PvP more appealing to non-pvpers.

say, it bumps your score up to 11k
once your gear passes this mark, you don't get the buff anymore

Dam ive seen it so many times.
Hope they can fix it before its to late.
Usually, teams suck, but they suck equally.

they go hand in hand.
I would rather wait 30 min for a balanced match than play 2 hours of unbalanced matches.
PVP wont attract new players because when they sign in to play pvp they start playing solo matches.
The match making system/Leaderboard we have now favors premades ONLY. solo players not included for fair game play.
The pvp will just keep shrinking till all we have is a handful of elite players playing other elites.
