lvl 39 GF STUCK.

Hi there!

I'm writing this post because i'm simply lost. This is my first character ever in Neverwinter and i don't know much about this game (as much as 39lvl lets me.) I met many people and most of them told me not to bother about the gear unless i want to pvp, (but since i chose the path of Tactitian i'm kind of handicapped cuz only Conquerors matter - that's what they say).

So, to be honest, i'm doing the normal quest path and dailies, right now i accumulated 150k ad, my gear isn't fancy, i'm trying to browse AH regularly and i change my stuff every 10lvls, always trying to have an item with a socket (i'm using Radiant for offensive, Dark for Utility and Azure for defensive slots.) However, i find myself rather weak, last dungeon boss - Grey Wolf Den always killed me 2x so i was forced to watch the rest of the fight from the camp. I am supposed to be a tank, but i can hardly tank those mobs i'm expected to.

Can anyone help me, because i'm more and more inclined to create a new character because this struggle seems to be lost... I enclose some screenshots, so anyone interested in this thread could exactly see what i'm wearing, stats, feats, etc...

From that place i wanted to thank everyone who is intersted in this thread, willing to post here and give an opinion on this subject. I am very grateful for every contribution. In return, i want to help you as well, so please, should you need something don't hesitate, i will do what i can to help you as well.

    Hello.

My first impression is that you have selected some powers and feats that are not ideal, so what I will say is that my advice will be trying to make the best out of what you have.

It is true that Conqueror is the best option for the GF in almost all cases. I'd like to point out that you can still become a Conqueror if you are worried about this. Even though you have points in Tactician you can still go to the Conqueror path.

You've chosen Swordmaster, which is going to get a huge damage buff on two of its powers in the next Module, so there are some positives here. Flourish will do ~55% more damage and Weapon Master's Strike will do ~48% more damage. So be sure to take those.

As for your ability scores, I would not put any more points into Strength, instead put all of them into Constitution and Dexterity at levels 40, 50 and 60.

Your defensive slots will be best filled with Radiants for more Hit Points. When you are at 60 you will want to get as much armour penetration as you can, so Dark enchantments in offensive slots and Radiants in defensive slots.

As for your experience in Grey Wolf Den; That is a very hard dungeon, especially so for new players.

    I would recommend the following if you are staying a Tactician;

    http://nwcalc.com/gf?b=pa7:27vfhs:1dcnjk,13ix105:100000:150u00:1uuz01&h=0&p=smr

    I would recommend this if you want to become a Conqueror;

    http://nwcalc.com/gf?b=pa7:27vdww:1dctv4,13ix105:1u0z51:100000:1uu000&h=0&p=smr

If you are not happy with your GF then it may be a good idea to start a new one or make a GWF instead. Currently the GF is one of the worst classes in the game because we can't do a lot of damage and we also can't take as much damage as a GWF can. There are changes that will be coming next month, but it isn't clear if it will make things better for us.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

if you want play much pvp gf is cool, no change to other class and i recommend iron vanguard (for now, but in module 4 is posible sword master rocks). remember you can reset all feets with 70k ad in any moment (if no want delete you actual charácter and try conqueror) .

I support all experimentals builds, if want be a tank in pve remember you work is take agro and run xd, i recomend, i can recomend if want continue with you actual char this hibrid build:

    Hi there,

I liked very much what you've wrote, but i'm worried when it comes to my character overall power and possibilities. I have 50k ad right now which i'm willing to spend to improve this character. Would you be so kind and give me advice what to buy?

Also, i have no interest in pvp, i'm just doing it for the AD daily rewards. But as i said, when it comes to dungeons, that are strictly PVE, i'm just weak...

What to do? What would you do if you were in my shoes?

    Thanks again!

all gf die fast in dungeons, i recomend use figther recovery (if you use it and enforced threath you auto heal all time), when you rise to 60 i recomend play a Little pvp or gautrin for t1 sets (are good opción for start to farm gear from epic dungeons and use Rank 5 enchants)

Are you sure about this? Have you run an epic dungeon with a proper GF? I don't think so.
A GF can die easly if: a bad GF, a bad healer or bad mob control.

You want to try and put "of youth" items on. they give +regeneration. I found it the most important stat to get whilst leveling up to 60, it makes the whole thing alot easier.

If you don't you will have to use potions alot.

Also don't bother respeccing until you get to 60, then you will know more about the class to think of a good spec. survivability is more to do with gear than what feats you pick.

    Wait...

Now i'm lost. What is the stat the is the most important for the GF? Some say it's Armor Pen, some Power, some Life steal and Deflect...

    Now it's regeneration?

I'm so lost, because so far i've been using Dark enchantments for offensive and Radiants for defensive...

    Can someone clarify this?

This is what i look like right now :

yup, you have 0 regen which is why you feel squishie. if you switch most of your gear to youth stuff you should be able to get around 800ish.

worry about other stats when you hit 60.

So you suggest to change my gear to have around 800 regen right?

Idk why but i thought that when it comes to healing there's always a cleric in a team so i didn't bother about this. Frankly speaking, recently (last 2 days) i participated in some dailies and apparently i had a good cleric so i didn't have to drink a healing pot al all ; )

What would be the "ideal" (of course taking into consideration my level) values of stats in your opinion? how much power, defence, armor pen, etc? Just give me values i should opt to so i have a better insight what is important in GF ; )

Thank you for your contribution grimah in this thread and enlightening me on the path of GF!

For any class around level 30 and every time that you finish a zone (Helm's Hold, Pirate's Skyhold etc...) I would recommend going to the AH and buying a full set of green gear for your level, or the level below you if your level is odd numbered. If you can afford it, try and get a blue weapon. For armor go with either Youth (Regen) or Restoration (Life Steal). Regen will work better for you as a GF as you'll have more HP and do less damage. Clerics don't have burst healing in this game and it really helps if you are keeping yourself to a point where they're just topping you off rather than keeping you alive.

For offensive stats, Armor Pen will be a straight up damage increase, though as you are getting some effect from your DEX, it's not as important. Power may be a better bet. For defensive stats, go with HP and then defense. Use Radiant enchants in offense and defense slots and if you haven't already, learn how to use the refining system. It's pretty easy to have all rank 5s by the time you're around level 50 if you start early.

Don't worry about target values as they will constantly increase as you level up. Go for Regen armor (4 pcs) and then get power and HP. As a GF, you'll get plenty of Defense stat no matter what you do. Armor pen is good as a secondary offensive stat, but until you get to higher levels, mobs aren't going to have that much armor.

Allright, so to sum up I should provide myself with the equipment containing Regen primarly and fill up the sockets with Radiant enchantments lvl 5 both in offense and defence.

    What about the utility slots?

Thanks for your contribution to the topic Pitshade, you really clarified my view on the GF class in general!
