Do you have to spend real money to get the companion upgrade tokens?

    Companion upgrade tokens are sold in-game for Astral Diamonds. A crazy, ridiculously high amount of Astral Diamonds, but Astral Diamonds just the same.

    Yes and no. They come out of lockboxes, thus you need keys. Keys are found in ZEN store only, thus technically real money is spent to obtain them.

    But that doesn't mean *you* have to use real money, you can buy lockbox keys on the AH and open lockboxes that *might* contain a companion fortification kit (or buy them off AH directly) that *might* contain companion upgrade tokens off the AH.

    All said, chances are you'd probably spend less if you just pay the AD price for a "normal" upgrade.
