stop using shard combo and use double roe, stack that with conduit of ice and your looking at a dr less then your own, even through the berserker mode their dr is severly reduced, making it possible to crit up to a 10k with ice knife if both those debuffs are active(through berserker mode). most people think oh if i prone him he wont go unstoppable, but when hes unstoppable hes at his easiest, because now his sole purpose is to burst you down as much as he possibly can. when he does unstoppable you have to be keep to teleport after he hits you with threatening rush, and dont be shy to wait almost a full second after he does, because a lot of the good gwfs will wait to see if you teleport before they use their encounters, but not all. once he is debuffed then hes f***'ed. my combo im running with in opvp as well as dom is the old but gold roe on tab, chill on q, conduit on e, choke on r. and now with the debuffs it gives their only real damage reduction is the tenacity bonus which cant get reduced. and thats only around 20%. I've hit in excess of 30ks on tanky gwfs / dc / gfs just from the debuff to ice knife, and my chill strike has hit over 10k as a non crit when the enemy was debuffed. its also a good combo versus other cws / hrs but you might want to switch it up a bit with the choke since hrs deflect everrrrrrrything. overall the debuff encounters are definatly better then proning someone for only like 5-6 seconds, thats good 1v1 in some situations but when the shard explosion crits a 4k then you know your not going to win the fight, may aswell give them -30 dr and crit a 7k with chill strike then :P
You should test your rotation on a dummy and post what your Ice Knife maxes out at (with and without companions), because I know someone who hit a 51k. \I'm done
My thoughts are -- I can still stack 5k+ power with it in dom, which instead of 6k power is a difference of ~6% damage bonus. I can run shard in mastery, choke, icy, and chill strike with an oppressor build where the rotation would get me my 3 HV stacks (12% bonus damage) and pretty much insta-cube them as well.
The rotation would look like -- choke (nets me 1st HV stack, +450 def to me and +4% dmg on them), shard drop (nets me 2nd HV stack, +8% dmg total), icy rays (adds 2 chill stacks and roots to make sure shard teabags them), chill strike (nets me 3rd HV stack, +12% dmg total, adds 3 chill stacks), shardsplosion (gg), assuming my chill stacks are still there I could then cube them and Ice Knife if my daily is up. Otherwise Ice Knife while they're prone (add 3 chill stacks) and then RoF until ^3ed.
By the time I made it to the splosion, I'd have 15% dmg on it from slotting the Chilling Presence passive (basically a Transcended Master replacement), another 5% from Bitter Cold, and potentially another 10% if I get Nightmare Wizardry to proc before, plus the 12% from HV stacks and other bonuses from Heroic feats.
No tenacity you say? Yeah, I'd probs have to wear the pvp rings and cloak (+750 ten) in order to get back up to around 20% bonus which is my least favorite part about it all and almost a deal breaker, but even without them I could still get ~500 ten. The way I see it, when you get comfortable and skilled with cw mechanics, mainly dodge and jump casting, you can start switching some defensive stats back into offensive anyway.
That being said, I've had a lot of fun and success using the double RoE and CoI super debuff particularly against CW/HR/TR
I'm relatively new to never winter! I mostly play DAoC but after mythic went down and the game is 13 yo I decided to give a new mmO a try and change it up. First of all I hate PvE and love PVP, bc daoc is and will always be the best pop mmo ever!!
But inspire of getting the dodge things down, I started with a HR as my first toon however I seem to die rather quickly in domination PvP. Maybe I am not doing something right but besides that the HR seems to not have soo much Dfence or Offense capability compared to the CW. Usually once they put me in the choke thing I'm lucky to dodge out and stay alive. I've given some thought as to try this class as they seem to do 50x amount of Dmg. Kinda seem Op""
Any advice for a new guy is helpful as never winters ui and animations of styles/spells are very much different from daoc. I'm used to qbinding absolutely everything..

well my hr was really good in mod2 and i couldnt be arsed to get it a profound set for mod3 but if u need tips on hr i still know all the rotations / tactics for the play style.
for cw either go with more control, or more debuff.
control abilities being
Tab: shard
Q; chill strike
E; ice rays
r; choke
debuff
tab; 2x roe
q:chill
e:conduit
r:choke
both have their advantages for the situation, aswell as their disadvantages. message me ingame and if you have a mic i can go into more detail (ex:any cc besides prones will glitch the shard away)
Twerk Team@crazymikee
all the races have their advantages for the situation but ive been using my dwarf cw for the cc resistance, my first two cws were teiflings though for the damage bonus
It depends on what you want to do with your CW imo, it's not really reasonable to expect to both top the dps chart in PVE and be a tanky burster in PVP. A PVE build will not be optimal for PVP (at least at a highly competitive level), but a PVP build will set you up for success in that area and still allow you to complete any PVE things (you just won't top the chart in dps).
For PVE, I went human because the extra heroic feat points allow you to out dps the other races. Tiefling would probably be second choice but I've heard one of its racial abilities is bugged with one of the thaum feats.
For PVP, dwarf/halfling/high elf with a high CON roll are all good choices for the CC resist, which I chose halfling for the added deflect.
If you're not competitive and just want to play the game, pick whatever you like. I made a half-elf a year ago, didn't even know you could roll the stat dice, and just PVE'd and PVP'd with zero f***s. The game has changed considerably to the point where if you want to be the best in both worlds, you pretty much have to make two toons, so that's what I did \3 see dubs
I have 5k power in opw (no pets) and I did this when specced as oppressor on an HR -- all I did was double RoE, EoS procced, and knifed. I also 16k'd a gwf through unstop
Basically you don't need to be thaum or have 8k power to make those numbers. Also a dev commented on the cw buglist thread and they confirmed that they fixed arp, maybe it will hit live before mod4

Is all that skill even required? My gwf dies just with Ray of Frost. The damage is low and progressive, Unstoppable never becomes available. Slow and smooth death.
since it's on another cws its not that impressive, but ive hit very close to that on other tanky toons
dude even you are dumb or really really dumb? First of all ,how can you say you do the same damage to a tanky enemy as you do as a non pvp speced cw ? Please , do us all a favour and leave this game. It will be better without you.

Hah! I remember that crit. The guy Mimmo was pretty soft though. Still 32K is a legit one-shot. I'm curious as to how much tenacity you have, because I also remember critting you for a large chunk of your health.

1000 tenacity, i put a gear pic i took like an hour ago in the post above urs
hmmm! its not hard to crit 32K on cw have pve build with 800 defense, and debuffed by 8 players
lol the thread op obviously have no idea about what he is talking about
" now lets all walk away and leave the op alone in his wonderfull world where he can do 30k crit on debuffed cw that are pve specced"

I never understood how rude you people could be. You have no right to insult this thread. He gave his opinion and if you thought you knew so much about versing GWFs then why'd you look at this thread? He's trying to help players having trouble with GWFs and if you have another opinion then that's good for you but you have no right to insult him for his opinion so if you have nothing nice to say then would you please keep your mouth closed? If you were the supreme master at versing a gwf then why'd you come to this thread? So you have no reason to insult anyone. Some people just don't know how to accept help and it's so sad.
I used to think shard on tab was the only way to go, but I've read recently some GWFs complaining about this kind of mega-debuff and dps a CW can pull off.
However, I think a lot of what you're seeing is from your power-stacked stone that you're using in OPVP and less about how much you're debuffing them, meaning if you could get shard off you'd probably end up doing better. Maybe slightly less spectacular ice knives but they're still going to hit hard.
