Server Selection for PVP wtb <140ms -230ms EUROPEAN SERVERS

So recently I have been asking my friends who are from the UK and germany(mostly) to do /netgraph 1 and see if they ever get below 140ms, all of us fluctuate between 140 (rarely) to 220ms, but normally 190ms+. Now you talk about players having an advantage over others so much and making the game balanced nothing can be more unfair than such a huge difference in connections in relevance to pvp. Now we are not asking for low ping in open world and pve dungeons since they can be facetanked all day, but when it comes to domination, ping really matters a lot more since there is more pride and stake and more to play for. Can you imagine how frustrating it is to miss encounters that should hit and loose to someone because of this? 140ms simply IS NOT good enough. Is there ever going to be European servers in this game??

    There is an EU proxy but Cryptic has always had a single shard architecture for ALL of its games since time out of mind.

    Plus geography isn't the only factor. I live in a small subdivision in a podunk POS town in what's basically a rural area. Our only broadband option is a very small local phone company with incredibly bad, unstable DSL.

    My ping has never, ever dropped below 180. On a good day, it fluctuates between that and 250 constantly. Most days, it's 220-250 with frequent spikes to 500. On bad days, I've had as high as 4500. Yes. 4.5 second ping. That was awkward. No chance of switching to cable, doesn't exist where I live and never will because there's no profit. Satellite is even worse, and lol dialup.

    I feel your pain. It throws off everything I do and I can't always compensate for it. Actually I usually can't. I'm a much worse player than I should be because of it. Hard to dodge things you don't see coming, and while you can learn boss patterns easy enough, loose adds will throw you off. I get so much <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> because oh potions and Impossible to Catch should be plenty. Not. Always. Not when you can't always dodge. And yeah, Lashing Blades missed a million times because of lag... Oof. :<

    But yeah, even if you had a server in the UK/EU, it might not help.

    EU proxy is worse than US proxy it spikes like crazy anybody from europe would probably confirm this, can we improve it somehow?

    EU Proxy is even worse just tested it.
    NO Proxy-> 140-240 ping
    EU Proxy-> 171-400 ping

    I have fibre optic connection :D and still i have a rubbish connection to this game because the server is in USA

    I agree that lagging is probably one of the worst handicaps in the game.

    I do think that it is somewhat out of cryptic's hands to deal with the problem. It is a budget issue, not a class balance issue that they could easily address in a patch

    I think you are right Rash, but companies like s2 games who offer F2P moba have server's that cater for many regions. I dont think Europeans will ever have <150ms, having said that i would urge fellow Europeans to think very carefully when considering spending hard earned cash on this game, since you will not be rewarded with a stable connection.

    I'm going to preclude this post with the standard disclaimer that my opinions are my own and not those of Cryptic Studios. Having said that....

    Since when does contributing to the game reward anyone with any sort of connection? Latency has a LOT more to do with having regional servers or not. You can have an EU server and STILL have latency problems. Why, you ask? I think one of the posters above hit it on the head--latency has other factors besides geographical proximity to the server.

    Let's also put things in the correct perspective here.

    Coast to coast, for example, the United States is roughly 2400 miles across (3940 if you want the distance in km). Boston to London? Little under 5300km. 6100km to Berlin. (look it up here if you're interested)

    Yeah, it's a long way from the East Coast (server is in the Boston area, if I'm reading traceroutes correctly) to many points in the EU...but it's not exactly a hop, skip, and jump to points on the other side of this country either. And unless I'm mistaken, there are connection problems in this country too.

    FYI: 150 ms is less than two tenths of a second.

    Bottom line is: paying cash doesn't guarantee anyone a thing in this game besides precisely what they paid for--their ZEN. It doesn't guarantee great connections or anything else, so advocating basically that EU customers shouldn't spend anything towards the game is--mind you, in my opinion--a bit illogical.

    Well it's good to know we arn't the only ones....

    Assuming the connection it is one way? Correct me if i am wrong but a connection is a 2 way thing?

    fyi: this is an action mmo, not the sims. every split second counts, that dodge away from someone trying to flurry, or a dash away from a threatening rush; why do TR's go for INT? well to get 0.5secs of their cooldowns. two tenths of a second is a lot, enough to give somebody with 5ms a gamechanging advantage: FACT.
    Bottom line is: paying cash doesn't guarantee anyone a thing in this game besides precisely what they paid for--their ZEN. It doesn't guarantee great connections or anything else, so advocating basically that EU customers shouldn't spend anything towards the game is--mind you, in my opinion--a bit illogical.

    You're right about this, but it is not solving any problems, just ask the european guys if they ever get <100ms, they don't, just saying.

    Case in point, UK players of City of Heroes once had connection trouble to the data centre in Germany, because a routing centre in Egypt was down.
