Griefing the griefer

First of all: I dislike the habit of stealing someone elses' questitems.

In the Toning-quest in Dwarven Valley this seems to be the rule rather then the exception though.

Today when on my TR I got fed up with it.

My TR solo's bosses well but it's a bit harder fighting whole Groups of baddies so I was upset when a random GWF stormed in and took the totem while I was occupied with the trolls.

I jumped on my wolf and followed him to his next stop and returned the favour, and also to his stop after that, and then I got this message:

<<Conversation removed>>

After that I got tired of the profanities and ignored him.

It's obvious to me now that since he only stole 1 totem from me I shouldn't have stolen 2 from him.
He should have got to steal Another from me first Before it was my turn again....

or something....

Either way:
I won't fall so low as to steal loot or quests from someone else, but if they start a war then I won't hold back..

/Tri ks

Before this is closed...First off naming and shaming is not allowed.

So what you are admitting, even though something happened to you, you went and GRIEFED another player? You do so realize that you broke several TOS rules in game and here. And you admitted to doing it?

I am not saying what he did was right. This was the wrong way to go about it and really IMO not too bright to admit that you were griefing.

You should of filed an in game report...under behavior.

This really demonstrates a problem Cryptic needs to fix. It shouldn't be the player's responsibility to know what quest items are instanced and to follow reasonable etiquette regarding them.

If a player engages an enemy and stays within a reasonable distance of the item, the player should get that item no matter what any other player does.

I don't know if this is a bug or a poor design choice, but either way it makes me want to play the game less.

Naming and Shaming should be the only way. You really think anything gets done when it's all kept in private? How many folks would be jerks if they are shunned in public and people know who they are? Versus this society that whimpers and cowers at the first sign of any trouble. They shall stay hidden, call the police because, well, you figure out the mentality of those type of people for yourself. Shame and Shun ever single person doing this stuff and this stuff being done will dwindle. Hide it in secret and it will never stop. Grow some BALLS folks and stop hiding in shame wondering when someone with BALLS will come to help speak YOUR mind.

There's no excuse for griefing totems anyway. You can both click it at the same time and both get credit.

With the greifers logic in the OP if punishments were equal to the damage dealt, you might as well rob a bank since the worst you get is to pay back all they money, if they don't catch you you get to keep it all. Such hypocrites that can't deal with the same thing they do happening to them.

Do you really think they pay much attention to these reports? The must receive hundreds a day. Just saying...

If you have any kind of proof that the person stole the totem, you could maybe report him or something. If you don't have a proof, it's your word againt his. For all we know, the OP could have made up the whole thing to try to get back at the griefer for whatever reason. Name and shame is never a good thing.

And as for stealing stuff, that happens from time to time. Just ignore it, wait for it to spawn again and move on.

but its not just time to time, its every day, on every toon I have.. this is a rampant issue.

I agree cryptic should fix it, but until then.. some common MMO courtesy ? or is that just gone with the wind.

Let me point out a few things before closing this thread:

    1) "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" is NEVER a good philosophy in life, much less a game. Integrity means standing up for what is right even when no one else is.

    2) Naming and shaming others has never been allowed on this board. Ever. It is a form of harassment and against RoC. Use the ingame system or support website to report such matters. Also, the block function is your friend. If someone is using profanity towards you, insulting you, whatever...you know, you don't HAVE to just take it. You can just switch it off using the block feature.
