Unfortunately it is extremely easy to grief other players in these quests. Unlike most of the other IWD quests, such as rescuing the caravan survivors interactions in these three quests are not individual or trigger in an AoE around the interaction.
There are quite literally people waiting around for others to start fights with mobs in order to grab the quest interactions. Sadly the most likely cause is because when there are a lot of people around if you don't do this you will not be able to advance because it is all but guaranteed to occur.
Even I got to the point of "well I can't beat them so I'll join them."
Please either make these quests trigger like the caravan refugees or make them individual.
Normally this would be considered feedback but IMO since the technology was used throughout the rest of IWD I believe this is more than likely an oversight. (unintended)
Yes I suffered this today ,luckily I just followed the person and nabbed the next one they tried to get then skipped away laughing but as it is it is highly annoying.

I must not have received those quests yet. I seem to keep getting the same 6 every other day for both zones.
This issue also effects the taming of portal hounds but to a much lesser extent. I was quite relieved it was seemingly addressed in IWD...but maybe not afterall.

Unfortunately for the Caravan Refugees anyone even without the daily quest can "save them", and this can end up in no refugees for those actively seeking them to complete the daily.
Somebody called it "ninja sniping".
I know when you gather edible mushrooms in Sharandar, or the dead meat in a tree in Dwarven Valley many people can get the same piece of meat, and nobody loses out on it. There may be a solution already in the game itself that just needs extraction, and adaptation to be implemented. Little tweaks like this I have faith will be gotten around to.

Portal Hounds grant the credit to everyone in a small radius, similar to the warriors from plants.
I found out yesterday that they did actually fix the Hung up quest being griefable so that each player can get their own individual copy of the quest item but it didn't occur to the developers to do it with the other quests in Dwarf valley so maybe we should make a list of all the quests that it is possible to grief in due to unspawning quest items and then the developers will hopefully fix those too.

Here's what i usually do:
Press escape>Change character OR logout, change character is faster>re-select the character you just played and enter the game. Sometimes you'll be placed in a different instance than you last were.
So far has worked for me every time and haven't had an idol nabbed by anyone yet and that's because no one's around to steal it in the first place.
Or add in an extra requirement in this quest forcing you to destroy 3x target enemies which can be completed alongside gathering 3x idols. Ninjas can't just steal and go to the forge at the top right away they actually have to kill some enemies. And while you're at it, just for THIS QUEST, enable the possibility to interact with idol while in combat so we don't get ninja'd and also if you're one of those players that like to interact with stuff while in stealth mode and ignore the enemies, this method won't be as useful as it sounds since you also have to kill 3x enemies as well.

Another plea for SOMETHING to be done to keep other players from stealing quest items they haven't worked for. I just spent a very frustrating hour with mineshaft after mineshaft stolen from my HR (while she was still fighting), and in the end, nothing at all to show for my effort. *ragequits forever again*

It'll get fixed ,it's just a question of how long it will take , I reported the hung up quest on preview for this very reason and apparently they fixed that quest so every player has their own version of the item but didn't fix all the other quests that can be griefed on.

I suppose I could also mention the imp-summoning portals in Dread Ring, although they didn't really require any fighting of mobs by them in order to take them out, unless you're really bad at pathing. Still, because there were relatively few of them, that one could be a pain to do on the day it was handed out, judging by zone chat (though you could just find a nice low-pop instance there). Possibly not really fixable in the same way since this is technically a kill-a-thing not touch-a-thing quest.
One thing that can be worth doing as an interim measure is simply saving certain dailies to do on the day after you get them. In the case of the same random quest being handed out twice in a row, you do come up a bit short of currency for immediate use, but it may be less trouble anyway.
I have been getting the @handle of everyone who has been griefing me and reporting them. Maybe this will prompt quicker action, as I've reported many people!
Definitely not an Arc User.

So, I was grouped with my husband to show him where the Hammerstone Queen quest is last night, and figured on grabbing some troll relics while we were in a party to finish the quest while we were over that way.
Well, I grabbed a relic and he said he didn't even get credit for that even though we were in a party. I didn't look at his screen to verify and we disbanded so he could take off and go to bed.
So this quest is possibly even worse than I thought.
I find that fighting the trolls while standing under the idol makes it difficult for anyone to walk up and steal it from you. The same can be said for the dwarf-ka-bobs and the burning pot. A TR will still sneak in and take it but right now its the only defense until something is done.

As was pointed out in a separate bug thread, if someone manages to snag a troll relic without killing the trolls around it, the relic will not respawn until the mobs have been killed and the entire set respawns together.
If I see relic-less trolls when I am on a character that can take them out quickly, I run clean-up duty.

Better analogy would be Dryad Trees
Quest - Atonement
Location - Dwarf valley
Item - Totem
Quest - Dwarf Stew
Location - Dwarf valley
Item - 2 Tied up Dwarfs
