Icewind Dale Entry?

So I read somewhere that you need at least 3 boons in Sharandar or Dread Rising campaigns and a 10k gear score in order to get into Icewind Dale and participate in the open world pvp. Is this true???

If it is true, what's the quickest way to get 3 boons and a 10k GS (think mine is about 8.5 right now)?

Do boons increase your gear score?

Any help would be appreciated

The Dread Ring is the fastest way to get three boons. If you do the daily quests every day there (and have the AD) you can get to a third boon in a couple of weeks (iirc).

For both Sharandar and Dread Ring, the first three boons offer stats that will increase gear score. Not only that, but the chest reward for doing daily solo instance in Dread Ring has a chance of dropping epic gear. You should get a piece or two at least over those two weeks.

Also, even though it's not necessary, I suggest doing the quests in Sharandar until you get the first boon there. It's pretty easy and that'll bump up your gs as well.

The next best way to increase your GS fast is Epic Pirate King runs during a delve event. Not only will you get an epic at the end of the dungeon, you'll also make about 20 seals per run. Then use those seals to buy Drake gear from the Seal Vendor. With an 8.5K GS, it might be hard to get a group. If you have trouble, try getting into T1 runs during delve events to get unicorn seals and gear.

Edit: Oh, and any gear you don't use from those runs, salvage and refine the rough AD. You can often find cheap purples on the AH to outfit your character relatively fast.

Edit 2: One last edit, sorry. Keep an eye out for promotions, like the rebel mercenary one recently. The active bonus from a lot of the promotional companions will help too.

My GF was the closest I had to three boons, but then he got nerfed and I can't seem to solo him any more without outrageous amounts of pots and injury kits

He was the only toon I had completed all the maps and dungeons solo with, killed every boss in the DR in all three dungeons, but not any more. Sorry if I am complaining, just bummed. As far as getting three boons I think it is faster in DR compared to Shar'dar.

Yeah, I really wish they'd given people a respec who were negatively affected by the nerfs. : /

Thank you! Just got the code for the mercenary. Do you have to download the arc client to apply the code?

You might be able to apply it here but if it doesn't accept there, then yes you'll need to apply it through the Arc Client.

I don't know if it matters that the server is in maintenance. It might be safer to wait to apply the code until the servers come back up.

I just outfitted my hunter with epics from the ah. With them and no boons she is at 11k gs (and low lvl enchants). So no worries about gs if you have some ad to throw around. (might have cost me about 200k ad total)
