........ 7 healing potions, is this normal? If not... time to tweak the Chest items a little don't you think devs?
Same thing can apply for Cask of Wonders, I get semi-excited when I get it, I open it......... a green mark.

yep, unfortunately very normal and common. i agree it needs some work. the items don't need to be ultra valuable, i guess, but they should at least be interesting. haha

They already upgraded the things once already.
Believe it or not, the drops were actually WORSE before.
That being said, I am also hoping that they upgrade the things (a chance to give you 1600 R.A.D., perhaps?).

Personally RAD is the last thing i would want , and i know a lot of people who are in the same boat, roughs are HAMSTER
I would rather like a 5k-10k refining stone for the ultimate grind for legendary artifacts and R10's
I don't usually bother with the purple chests because of the lackluster rewards. The only good thing I can remember ever getting out of one was more Marks of Favor, which seems ironic at best.

Oh, I agree, I was just trying to think of something I could see them actually doing, and I doubt that a Stone quite that valuable would drop from even the Purple chest. Maybe a small chance at an Aquamarine or something similar could happen and would be a most welcome addition.

Invoking chests, professions that give chests... i don't bother to look forward to any of them. if I lose 6 invoke coins because I was late invoking I just shrug "so what?" As for professions: I look at whatever gives the most reward based on the time it takes to complete it. If it has a chest, so what? I don't even consider it a bonus any more. I don;t dislike them, but they are zero-part of my decision on which activity to choose.
The only thing professions are good for is mining AD. No sense crafting any equipment in them because you've already grossly out leveled their usefulness and their not really worth the trouble to post at AH. So I focus on AD generation or leveling-up the profession. Once it's at level 20 then start crafting decent gear... to sell on the AH for AD.
As for the invoking boxes? Pah-leese. I've been invoking for more than a year now. If memory serves, I got there (!) Blue Coalescent Wards in that time. Then, and only then is it a "oh, nice" result. The rest of the time it's "I wonder how much silver I'll make from the Bazaar vendor this time?" LOL

I managed a couple of Blue Marks Of Potency back when they were dementedly expensive. That was certainly a nice surprise. And any number of items can be sold on the A.H. for A.D. when you get a full stack going. Not to mention a steady stream of the rarer Crafting Resources (like Marks of Gratitude or Siege Weapons) which save quit a bit of Crafting Time and keep some nice 1600 A.D. options open more often. Not great, but not a complete wash either.

Heck, they dont' even need to be interesting. But if I open a large chest of goods, what I expect is quantity. A handful of potions is not much quantity.
I was really excited about those purple chests, because when I first opened them, there were quite nice rewards, I even got a mark of potency once. But lately all I seem to get are the potions and 2 white pearls, not worth the 12 hours at all.
The only item you should be aiming for in these very large chest of goods is that Rare (blue) Mark of Potency. As always like with every other hard to get item, you can open 50 and still not get one. Well at least from my experience, I opened over 60 and finally one popped up. Generally it's not worth it to go out of your way and complete a task to get that chest since it takes so long to complete. You're better off completing other tasks for AD and materials and then selling said materials to gain the AD and then buy the mark off the AH.
You think the rates would be upped much more but no, those very large chests are hard to get and are very time consuming. It requires 3 mark of gratitudes which means you have to do 3 Build Shelters that take 12 hour each. But before you can even do 3 Build Shelters you first have to do 15x rescue prisoners for the 45 refugees and that takes 40 hours. So a total of 52 hours just for one chest and none of those required tasks even give you RAD either. Let's not forget Build Shelters is a rare task, so you may have to put off days to even see the task show up.
And of course after you get your very large chest you open it and... get 7 potions... Complete ripoff. Spend the 52 hours to do 24 fight off spellplauge or battle undead and get 9600 RAD. Do it 3 times and you can afford yourself a Mark of Potency. Remember, I opened over 60 of these and got only 1 mark of potency. I could've gotten nearly 20 marks had i just sold the materials. (note i didn't include the other materials which is the mining claim, siege engine, and region map).
I suggest a fix to this and be like what the Barrel of Goods offers. Give out 3 items but disable the chance for getting duplicates of blue Mark of potency. So that means you can get 21 healing potions or 14 healing potions and 1 mark of potency (if lucky). But not 2 mark of potency and 7 healing potions, or even 3 mark of potency. For god's sakes it's a very large chest of goods, how do you find less rewards compared to a barrel of goods?

Exactly. You open this ENORMOUS chest, and inside is a magic bean and a k-ration. w00t! Couldn't put that in a small bag? Had to store it in a giant "rare" chest?
Hey! How about I just keep the rare/epic highly detailed, gold filigreed chest itself instead??
Yes, I got fed up opening large chests a while ago.
For the same reasons as have been stated.
I now go for mainly, Barrel of Goods,
as I find its better to open them.
At least you get a variety of stuff and not just potions,
most of the time.
As it named, it's "Very large" chest. These potions must be very big that they take the place of chest. Anyway, potions from it should be depended to your char level and when you sell them you can earn more than 3 gold.
Sorry, I beat you to all these large chests and just left the stuff I didnt want in them. Sometimes they are full of cool stuff and theres not much left over.
Crushed by wall of text. Dropped plenty of Coals and other nice goodies, always have my alts getting refugee's.
Yes i've had the health potions, but it hasn't put me off.
I don't like these chests getting any significant sort of reward.
This is too easy to exploit by bots and will severely devalue the economy if PWE and cryptic aren't careful with what they put there
I can tell you right now I've got more than 20,000 large chests just waiting for a new prof, new change etc etc and I don't use any third party programs.

Aquamarines (1500 RP) would likely be the highest we'd see out of them. Which I'd totally take over 7 health pots or 2 marks of gratitude.
I actually just try to maximize the number of chests per task -- since they're like the lottery anyway, I figure the more chances the better that one might actually contain an epic item. The chances are so low anyway it'd be like getting hit by lightning three times in a row.

They don't drop Epic Items.
They only go up to Blues.
But some of those Blues can be both rare and valuable (at least compared to most Leadership Rewards).

. . . Yeah, surprisingly... I get far better loot from the green barrels than I do the blue and purple chests. Something is wrong with the way blue and purple chests have their loot tables set up. I have 15 characters that constantly do tasks that give them the green barrels and blue/purple chests. 4 of which are at 20 leadership and regularly get blue and purple chests. On the other characters, I mainly only do the Fight the Spellplague for the green barrels and they all get far better and much more loot than my level 20 leadership chars working blue and purple chests. The best thing I have gotten from my blue and purple chests are the blue maps and when that happens, it's the only item in the chest.
I like this game but in general the chest rewards need more attention from the Dev. department because they do not match the expectations they give. Take the Sharandar key or the highest Dread Ring key that it takes quite some time and money/AD to achieve; the rewards you get are (too) often worse than the normal random chests around the map. That must change imho.

Yeah, getting a pair of R4s from the coffers when you're using an adamantine gauntlet truly bites the wax-fattened mare.

Make the good stuff account bound, like coal wards are for the invoke chests.
For the most part, I just ignore the chests when picking tasks. If given a choice between two otherwise identical tasks (Fight Off Spellplagued and Battle Undead) I will go with the one that yields a better chest, but it's only a tie breaker. Generally the things that come from the chests that interest me the most are Mining Claims and District Maps, since those are useful for the second and third most lucrative AD mining tasks. The runes and enchants are nice, but I wish the chests were account bound instead of character bound, so I could just mail them to whoever is upgrading enchant/artifact and open them all there, saving having to mail a ton of stuff.

I share your plight, I would plead with the developers to change some minor drop rates in the cask of wonders and the leadership chests ... cask of wonders should have a good chance of dropping something purple and and either several green type things or a couple of blue type things, something like 25 - 30% for purple loot and 70 - 75% to drop multiple greens or blues. Cask of wonders is a purple item that does not appear to drop anything of worth and if it does then at least explain what that item might be and adjust the rates to take into account that you don't even get a cask of wonders all the time so up the drops a bit at least.
Same thing for the leadership goods, I think green, blue and purple coded chests from leadership should have a chance to drop an item from that same rarity, such as purple chests in leadership should offer a shot at purple marks of potency. This would then at least make the arduous task of leveling up leadership something worth while because as i see it right now once you unlock rank 16 or 17 and open up the rare task that gives 1600 ad for 1 mining claim you don't need or even have a reason to go higher due to the pitiful excuse for rewards that are less than rewards from lower levels. I have a lot of thoughts on profession skills as it is, but this ties into reward vs time and effort and its just not there. Most games professions is supposed to provide things others might not get and those who spend the time either get unique stuff you can't get otherwise or can make things to provide to others for a fee.
Regardless a purple item should be providing a bit more reward than green item stuff.
