Unless there's another way to get Reputation points, it will take 35 days of farming to even be able to test the skirmish. Not to mention funneling everyone down into 2 sets of gear is ridiculous. It will eliminate all variety in gear, and I guarantee anyone who chooses not to use the gear will be looked down upon. They should have just made black ice upgrades to the current gear sets.
You only need the gear to unlock it, not to enter according to the description. So yes you can still choose other gear if you want.
Just remember we are Theory-crafting on this skirmish as of yet. I do not see 35 days as too long, I do however see it as too long for getting level 3 in black ice profession as you have to make the gear to get there.
This approach is especially puzzling because the last two capstone PVE contents (MC & VT) started with major exploits in their first two weeks. Not sure though whether testing on preview back then only failed to prevent or even caused it.
I'll be doing the dailies on preview and see where it gets me. But I can already estimate that I probably won't get close to a full set of Black Ice gear. One big reason is that you need to group up to farm for your Arms and I definitely won't invest that amount of time.
But there is something in the works:
Note: we will be adding level-up and item-granting NPC’s in the future. For now, please test as best you can on your existing characters by utilizing the Character Copy feature!

I am with you there. At most I have been able to find a few people to do 5 to 7 HE for the chance of an arm drop. I have actually seen several peoples chest drops but no arms. I am beginning to wonder if this is a drop issue for heroic encounters.
I hate to be the one to point it out and say some about the elephant in the room but a lot of people use "beta testing" to learn of exploits and never report them as well just to get unfair advantages. Not really caring about the game itself. Knowledge is power or so the saying goes. But you get my message.

I think the Encounters that are supposed to drop the Arms currently aren't even spawning in Icewind Pass.

I got the GWF gloves on my CW from the wolf pack ? ( I think that is it's name ) HE in Icewind pass but that was before the last patch , and someone else here got the CW ones I think but I dunno if that was before the patch too , really they need to make it so that if black ice gear drops for you it is for the class you are playing and not just random luck.
I got my CW gloves from Remoraz (spelling...I know) on I think the 3rd day preview was out. Now when I log in I do not see any of the larger heroics spawning. That could be because there are fewer people on the map or my bad timing.
On a side note: I have NEVER seen the black ice splinter drop and those are required to upgrade the gloves.

I have seen REmoraz (spelled?) twice since the last preview build. I am honestly not sure what triggers it but it does not seem timed.
The Black Ice Splinters now drop. That was fixed with the last preview build. I have around 10 now, but no arm drop.
Look me up in game and I will give you some. handle is @cayapp or mail them to you just let me know.
This skirmish needs rewards that are better than the low level skirmishes. Skirmish hour's 1000 rough ad gains per run does not work when the higher level skirmishes takes several times longer to run (and still will even after the split shot nerf) and can be horrible to pug. There's no skirmish daily at 60, and even if there were, with the current design of 4 runs with 1000 rough ad per run, it wouldn't be worth it either.
If the black ice gear is not worth using for some classes/builds, we'll be forced to make a set anyway just to run the skirmish. That's terrible.

It says you would need 200 reputation to unlock Kessells Retreat but in the end you actually need need 350 reputation to really unlock it since the black ice armor can only be crafted at that point. just my 2 cents =/
The fact that u need end game armor to enter the next end game content is is just foolish... it doesnt even make sense. Just my 2 cents
for others to understand this, just look at the 2 previous campaigns. You can unlock Valindras and Malabogs within the first few days of starting the campaign, but now have to practically finish Icewind Dale, and craft a new set of gear in order to try the skirmish.

For better visibility, wouldn't it have made sense to post this in their official feedback thread using their colour coding scheme?
I mean, feedback stating that you can't provide feedback because it takes such a long time to get into the content is still feedback, but the non-sticky threads are sort of hit'n'miss as to whether they get any attention.
EDIT: Tonight's patch on the test server has made the requirement 20% black ice resistance but I have no idea if that is just for testing or permanent , I asked in patch notes so maybe we'll get a answer.
We already did feedback it last week , seems a weird system to open the skirmish at 20 days but you cannot craft any more than 3 pieces of the corrupt or purified gear until day 35 , sure they have some obscure reasoning behind it though .
20% is still too high , currently we can craft 2 pieces ( until we get the gloves to drop ) for a maximum of 16% resistance .
The armour and talisman can't be crafted until level 3 crafting , so we still CAN'T gain access to this skirmish until we get the glove or level 3 crafting rights .
EDIT : fully empowering the armour etc thin gives you 10% resistance per item .
EDIT 2 : Unlocked kessels retreat but errors when I attempt to queue with the 2 fully empowered items ( supposedly at the 20% minimum requirement ) with an insufficient stat error .
So, with the latest changes we need we need rank 3 Black Ice shaping to craft the armor and weapon set.
To unlock rank 3 professions you require 350 reputation (at least 35 days of daily quests).
Buying the base gear (excluding weapons) costs around 25k refined black ice.
Upgrading the gear is around another 26k black ice (already factoring in the 'refund').
For what it's worth I've been playing a couple of hrs each day on preview, spending a chunk gathering black ice. Even right now where there isn't much competition for nodes, and the PvP zones are still safe I still only have gathered around perhaps 32k after 18 days.
Realistically if a player is super diligent he may be able to get 350 reputation by May 1, and assuming he grinded enough to get the gloves drop, and bothered to mine and refine 50k black ice. Then he needs to craft the key and hope 4 other people have done so to get into the skirmish.
So...not looking optimistic that we can test this at all. Or even have the black ice gear set made even. A little help on preview?

We only need 2 pieces of gear to get into the skirmish now , I have corrupt helm and boots and that gives me the 20% black ice resistance that is needed to get into the skirmish when they are fully charged , they also seem to have changed the amount of reputation needed ,it is now 200 ( I'm pretty sure it used to be 350? ) so players should be able to start going in there either tomorrow or the next day , I'm only 30 reputation points away but I restarted the campaign like a idiot after one or two days lol
You'll find this funny;
The Epic Heroic encounters have mobs with insane hp, and likely need a group to complete--->
Remhoraz has a good dps requirement to take down --->
Remhoraz drops Remhorax Bile (epic crafting ingredient for black ice smithing --->
It's not bound
It'll be expensive.
The items in Kesell's Retreat might be just as hard to get.
" Insufficient stats when trying to queue for Kessels retreat ".
I unlocked the skirmish earlier today .
I equipped my 2 fully empowered pieces of armour ( purified ) which supposedly gives me the currently required 20% black ice resistance to at least queue for the skirmish and my gs is at 15.5K ( minimum is 14K ) and it gives me the above error .
Has anyone else managed to queue for this skirmish ( with either 2 or 3 pieces of corrupted or purified items ) ?
Or is there a new bug with them changing the requirements from 4 pieces to the current 20% minimum black ice resistance ?

I opened "KR" today. It needs OVER 20% stats, Gloves+Boots+Helmet, I tested and with 2/2 -set it not work, but with "stupid" 3/1 -set I got Queue
Feedback: Kessel Retreat, Gear requirements
Make possible to use 2/2 armor set,
so lower 20% Black Ice resistance to 19% or increase armor Black Ice resistance so it go over 20% when using 2/2 set.

So the black ice resistance that is being shown on the hat and boots must be incorrect , mine also says 10% on each piece when it's fully enhanced.Goddammit , now I have to screw about trying to find enough people to spam the 4-6 man HE's till I get the gloves since it looks like they aren't bothering with the black ice gear trader.
according to the tooltip for the gloves in which area they are found in , the standard gloves are found in the dwarven valley and NOT in Icewind pass .
I have never seen enough people in dwarven valley to attempt to do the 4-6 man HE's .
Unless someone else can confirm that they have received the gloves recently from an HE in icewind pass .
Is it necessarry to go all the way to 350 reputation for 20% black ice resistance and enter KR?
Or you need only two black ice set elem?
In the profession menu the helmet and the gloves said its 8-8% but it might be enchance for more black ice resistance.
2 empowered black ice gear gives, 20% but it seems to be bugged an won't let you in. 3 normal crafted black ice gear apparently lets you queue, unforuntely I either can't find the harder HEs or there's just nobody around to help (especially dwarven alley)

I got my gloves after finishing a Rameraz (spelling?) Run in Icewind Pass.
Also know someone who got the Gloves from the Ramorhaz 6-10 HE. Last time I checked the tooltip said they are supposed to drop from Class B HEs in Icewind Pass.
