Feat: Benefit of Foresight

I would like to start off by thanking all the active posters and guide makers in this section of the forums. You all have helped me a lot.

I thought I was pretty good by myself and so did most I played with, but iron sharpens iron as the saying goes. I've been heading away from pure heals towards support and buffing lately. I quite like it. I just used my free respec today to try my legs REALLY buffing the big boys, with the hope that Module 3 with provide another free respec. I may post my build details if it's requested.

Before I got into these forums what I understood from what I read from the tooltips was NOT what you all have figured out. I still have that problem of maybe misinterpreting? the tooltips. So, if someone could shed some light on the Faithful DO feat Benefit of Foresight, that would be much appreciated. From what I'm getting from it, it seems like maxed it gives 6.3% reduction. I have 2 or 3 points in it because guides say it's a feat to have, but I don't trust it. Is there a way to test it, has anyone tested it?

What I'm asking in oh so many words is; does maxed Benefit of Foresight give 5% extra of 6%, assuming foresight is maxed as well (6.3% "assum...maxed"), or an extra 5% reduction (11% "assum...maxed")?

    Its 11%

Tooltip descriptions are either horrendously worded or worded in a way that sets confusion on purpose.

You can download act combat log and test for yourself, its the ultimate passive to have in the DO line, if your not maxing it, then you might consider going to the AC line instead, as you are always throwing out heals, everyone who is being healed is getting 11% less damage right off the bat.

If you think about it its the best buff we have in terms that its always available. Ive said over and over now, the game should have two more X sheets (Most buffs for offense given equaled X damage and Most buffs for damage mitigation = X ) More people would see the actual value of a DC, right now they look at those sheets and see DCs 3-4 million under other dps classes and wonder what they did =P...

    yep, it's either straight up additive (so 6% + 5% for a final 11% DR) or multiplicative (so damage taken = 0.94 X 0.95, for a final 10.7% DR), either way it's essentially 11%.

What a lot of tooltips really need is some way of clarifying all the +X% elements, since it's wholly inconsistent.

For example, you might have a power than gives, say, 10% resistance reduction, and a couple of feats that increase this by 10%.
One of the feats will increase it by 10% making it 11% (since 10% of 10% is 1%) whereas the other will make it 20% (10% + 10%), and there's no real indication which is which.

Yes! Absolutely.. and while we're at it, make things like "Armor Penetration" on the character sheet reflect bonuses from character attributes too... All the info is available, it's just a bit crazy that the client doesn't provide it properly.

Thank you all so much. I'll play as I am for now, get more skilled as more of a buffer and such. I've got some time to think about how to rearrange my feats between now and next update to max out that feat. Unless of course someone would like to argue these points and convince us that the feat isn't worth it? Then go ahead, but I am pretty sure the consensus is get that feat lol
