New PVP in Module 3?

"Icewind Pass

This treacherous pass is one of the two new zones that will offer both PvP and PvE content to players.

Dwarven Valley

This expansive valley is the second of the two new zones that will offer both PvP and PvE content to players.

PvP Campaign

For the first time ever, Neverwinter will feature a PvP Campaign, which will have daily quests focused on slaying other players, or navigating through dangerous PvP areas for resources."

So are we talking new domination maps, an open map persistent PVP zone, something similar to GG? All or none of the above?

There are 2 new factions , Ten towns and the arcane brotherhood so maybe it is something along the lines of an evolved version of GG , hopefully carefully balanced this time if it is similar to GG ,otherwise players will be trying to sneak through a map where one side has full teams and the other side has a couple of players who made a bad choice when choosing the faction to fight for lol.

I am ready for open world pvp, kindly aware some nerds from opposite fraction come to kill you while you kill some boss mobs.

It sounds like the choice for which side you fight on is temporary so you can switch sides.

My only worry is that we will have to go through open world PvP to get to PvE quest areas. I really hope they are smart enough to avoid that.

Yes same here. It would inevitably only lead to griefing and it is not as if as if getting an extra set of boons to grind is a pleasant thought in any case....

Yea putting PvE missions in an open PvP area would kill this module for me. The level of suck this would cause, would be hard to properly describe.

We are well aware that some players would be hesitant to be forced to do PvP and is a major concern for some of our devs. I do not believe there are currently any quests in the open PvP areas that are required to make progress on the PvE campaign for the new zones.

a PvP Campaign, which will have daily quests focused on ..., or navigating through dangerous PvP areas for resources.

I wonder if I can pacifist-run my way through the PvP campaign. It might be an interesting challenge. Or tedious.

Do this 50 times and get a new Hippy title and achievement and a new costume set of baggy jeans and shirt and a protest placard

Really looking forward to the changes. Open world PVP with unique content/campaign could really make me look into PVP a bit more. I share the concerns about the fraction balance, you definitely don't want to be on the Luskan side of Mod3.

I didn't think you guys would actually do it, but I always get worried when I see new content mention both PvE and PvP. Thanks for alleviating my worries.

There is no such thing as "open world PvP". There is PvP (structured in some way and balanced), and there is "ganking people because you have no skill", sometimes referred to as "open world PvP".

By the sounds of it the open pvp areas will probably only be available to level 60 players unless they change things and make the new areas available to lower level players , just don't enter open pvp areas without backup and hopefully they will add a safe area at the start of open pvp areas so that it isn't a case of insta death if you take more than a fraction of a second to zone in.

guess that will be based on assists, because not all are made to kill ;p
    so no big deal.
if that`s not the case it should be changed asap.

It would almost be like GG, but worse, much worse.

What about black ice? The blog entry mentions player competition for black ice. Does that mean via pvp or just competitive nodes? Honestly, I don't want to pvp in this game, and by that I mean I don't want to have a second rate game experience at the expense of a gank area.

Absolutely - I'm 100% with you on this one.

Another game did that - "forced" players to do PvP in order to be competitive in PvE - and guess what - that's why I'm here - I left this game.

I've never liked PvP, I can live with it, but I don't want to be "forced" to do it - period.

Does this include not having PvE achievements like no Scrying Orbs or other Exploration achievements in the PvP areas? Or access to the PvP areas through only certain areas and big red letters across the screen indicating that the player is going to be flagged for PvP unless they exit the area immediately?

So... there will be PVP daily quests that offer rewards like RAD, boons, gears, resources, enchantments etc that cannot be gotten if we choose to do PVE quests only?

No one knows. Everything is speculation. All that has been said is that will be PVP and PVE content and that the new resource 'Black Ice' will be harvested and fought over. I take that last bit to mean that you can get it doing either PVE or PVP but not that you will have to do both to get it, much like Grym Coins which can be acquired in PVP and in PVE without having to do both.

If the boons and whatnot require venturing into some open PVP zone, I'll be giving this module a pass.

I don't mind if there is a PvP and PvE campaign as long as the boons and rewards only benefit that specific content or some of the same rewards are available through both. So if a companion is part of the PvP campaign, then it should be available through the PvE campaign as well. Or if there is some awesome weapon on the PvP campaign, then an equivalent weapon should be available on the PvE campaign. No player should be forced to PvP by limiting some reward to PvP rewards that a PvEer wants. I remember in Star Trek Online where I wanted the best Shield at the time and it required doing PvP Dailies at the time. Most of the matches, I am sure that I wasn't a help to my team. I found other ways to entertain myself than PvP. Then there is City of Heroes where it had 2 PvP zones that gave excellent rewards. There was far too many times where I encountered an enemy in PvP and we just passed each other peacefully. These type of people are not what PvPers want to fight. The only people in PvP areas should be people that want to PvP.
