I'd like to eventually see the choice of Deity play a little more into the world. Such as the Doomguides of Kelemvor have themed gear in Neverdeath we could collect/buy themed gear. Also the god could have its own built in Campaign mode. Such as example Kelvevor followers could unlock passives to deal additional damage against undead. Certain Deity worshipers could unlock themed weapon/armor enchants thats exclusive to that God.
"Miracle" a Daily power you can slot specific to your Deity.
Would be nice to have some darker deities in play as well, but yes I agree there should be some more importance and involvement with your patron deity of choice in the world.
Although while inspecting a half-orc toon one day, noticed he chose Corellon as his patron. That gave me a laugh. But you know, maybe he was trying to be stupid funny or maybe a player that doesn't have any history of D&D lore? But then again we have halfling great weapon fighters soooo...
Like the Miracle idea, with a 1 or 2 hour cooldown maybe, extra keybind slot?

I took a Survey from Perfect World: Neverwinter Online a few months back. One of the questions was how do I feel about having a "Evil Faction". If would be my guess that they would save evil Gods for such a vision. Personally I think people would eat up the opportunity to play the bad guy.
It would be nice to see a wider selection of deities, including some lesser ones.
However, if Cryptic decided to suddenly make deity choice mean something they would absolutely have to give everyone a free deity change.
I for one would switch to Corellon. Probably.

I would love to see them implement deity based artifacts, that we have to quest on for our particular deity. Well too class and race based artifacts would be nice to have too. Then instead of refining the deity artifacts they would refine over time when we invoke.

The only issue I would have with deities playing a bigger roles is that people would start selecting them based upon the statistical bonuses having said god provided, instead of the one that fits most thematically with them. I'm all for fluff being tied to specific deities, though - like followers of Tempus might have access to special weapon transmute items, while Kelemorites could have a cloak with their deity's symbol on it...

Its a risk verse reward. Games like this eventually become based on a target audience who want to spend the money for what they like. With implementation of things such as Powers/Artifacts they dont have to be any more powerful then what you can currently do. Certain players will always minmax what they can but doesn't mean it will be the majority.
And I firmly believe a change of Deity should be free with this system added as a one time but afterwards would cost money to keep such minmaxing in check.
One thing I like about most iterations of D&D is flavor, creativity, and variety. These are all qualities that have generally been really lacking in Neverwinter.
I'd be happy with flavor variations, like special costume options, or clerics having different symbols, or some cleric animations/sfx that vary between gods (like maybe a Selune flame strike looks silvery).
Heck, different worship/meditation emotes, SOMETHING.
Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?
Most developers (of any game) have a really long "I want to do this" list. However, they must be secretive and careful not to reveal any of it as it will be taken as defacto intent. I have no doubt some, perhaps many of the Neverwinter Developers would love to see this kind of thing implemented, perhaps it's even on the roadmap.
However, there are so many man-hours available to be put into the game. I would;t be surprised to see something like this implemented in the next four years and I say this because Star Trek Online is 500% (i know: impossible number) different now than what it was at launch. Cryptic has implemented many of these kind of requests and a lot we never knew we wanted but now absolutely can;t live without.
My primary point is that we, those of us playing now, are at the forefront of the game in terms of maturity. Neverwinter is still a 'babe in the woods' as MMOs go. There will be a lot of new content coming, most of it will be awesome. Things will only get better.
If Neverwinter pans-out the same way STO did then I see this: the first year is about bug-fixing and balancing with some new content thrown-in as-able. Once it hit's it's stride with balancing and major bugs quashed the Devs will be able to focus on player usability things and enhancements to the general game in-whole (such as the subject of this thread) along with new content.
Unfortunately, it requires patience and understanding on our part as players. In the TL;DR version: only great things will come, everything gets better with age and experience.
Turbine released LOTRO with the ability for people to perform music on different instruments and even synch up to make a band performance.
My patience and understanding for dev time in failing to put in absolutely no deity customization other than title, along with the general lack of flexibility or customization, is worn down to bedrock at this point.

I would absolutely LOVE some reason to play a character devoted to a specific deity, other than the generic ones they have now.
Extra armor/shield/weapon/amulet/cloak sets to be sure.
Use of Altars dedicated to each specific God, to provide temporary boons more appropriate to that God.
I mean, who doesn't want to play a Loviatarite wearing HAMSTER leathers and wielding a Cat-o-Nine Tails?
Or a Kelemvorite wearing armor that looks like a Skeleton and skull helm/mask?
Or a Malarite wearing a Bears head and with claws for weapons?
As for the boons, make them simple minor bonuses, like the current ones from Incantations.
Then I really could play a "Paladin" Guardian Fighter of Torm.
Another cool things, would be special Diety Specific Companions and Mounts you could earn through Diety specific Quest lines. Things such as a Mount decked in the specific Gods livery, or a companion Cleric wearing the trappings of the Gods faithful servants.

I really lost interest once I realized 'cleric of forge god' played identically to 'cleric of moon goddess'.
That's... dumb.
