Recently Grimah posted a video in my POV from our Valindra boss fight.
Since it was not clean and since people didn't like that we had 2 CW's, I thought I'd post a better one.

It's not perfect but it's a good run at her. This one is also in better quality so be sure to tick that 1080p option!

Enjoy.

Awesome job. Sent you a PM. Hope you can help me out.

EDIT: Was going to add a follow up question to my PM, but no sent message is showing in my folder. Please let me know if you got it! Thanks.

Anyways, I'll just type it here.

First off, what GS were the members of your party? My guild is having trouble with a group of 14k players; maybe we need to get better gear or something.

Second, I would have thought Ray of Enfeeblement on mastery would be better. Are you using Icy Rays on tab for the grabby hands mostly?

And lastly, some questions about the video itself: What programs and bitrate etc did you use to render your video? Im having trouble getting my videos to keep that crystal clear quality on Youtube. Also, how did you use copyrighted music and have that little blurb about "Buy this song" on your page?

Thanks! I really appreciate any help you can give.

GS isnt a huge issue burst damage i king here (for grasps), Ive had multiple fails with some groups, and with frozzt we almost never (dont think ever) fail first time and without any coms.

The key is to deal with caskets and grasps as fast as possible to avoid overlapping and dangerous situations:

    1. get ontop of hands quickly (save dailies)
    2. always keep/know your zone (everyone including cleric must have a zone to take care of)
    3. map awareness of your teammates (so you can assist any problems)
    4. keep your health topped up after 50% (choke phase) and stay near your cleric (if range or squishie/low on health).

Oh another thing, stacking regeneration on your cleric makes a huge difference. this means they can expend most of their heals on other people without having to worry about themselves. (lifesteal or regen for other classes helps too).

ROE on tab is really only of benefit after fight breaks (aoe, possibly caskets). Icy on tab is 20% extra damage on the hardest hitting ST encounter over & over & over again. Gone back and forth on this one myself a few times.

starts post explaining inability to defeat encounter with an avg gs group more than capable of doing so.
immediately questions encounter choices of player who posts flawless runs of said encounter.

As have been said, gs does not dictate how this fight goes. But I imagine the range was 12-15k in this party. Enfee on tab is not a bad choice, you can go with that too.

I use MSi Afterburner to record this video in 1080p @ 24 fps and I then encoded the 12GB file into the preset YouTube 1080p 24 fps h264 in Adobe Premiere. It became about 600MB. I record audio while recording video so it catches whatever I am listening to atm. I expect to have my videos flagged and muted but if anyone wants audio I would make that happen after the fact. I.e. I don't care.

You will need a very fast SSD and a fast CPU to record in good quality without major performance hits.

My group burned Valindra before she spawned the caskets In phase one and we have enough DPS to not care about the caskets in the last phase. :P

Valindra doesn't spawn caskets in phase 1.

What I find odd that in many of these pve videos I never see folks using greater stone of health even though those are actually quite cheap for hardcore pve'ers. and it's basically only needed for emergencies. Anyway nice vid, I haven't yet done VT myself (mostly a pvp-payer).

froszzt, thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions. I really appreciate it. Watched your video again and hopefully my group will be making some tweaks and downing Valindra soon.

My bad. I meant that during the first phase with caskets, we burn her fast enough so they don't spawn.

Then when the mass-caskets spawns we can burn her and kill her without killing the caskets.

There's no way you're taking her from 80% to 20% before any caskets spawn.

You dont have to burn her to 20% to skip the caskets.

It is fully possible to kill her without doing any of the caskets in the mass casket phase. But since it takes all but a minute and is very safe and easy to do all caskets, that is what we do in my groups. And if you can burn her down so that she doesn't spawn any caskets in her first casket run then you are either running very OP party compositions and/or are a bunch of CCW's. Either way, I am not impressed. This was made to educate, not showing off. It is an ordinary run at Valindra that I took and uploaded to show people how to do it easily. No clue why you are here though.

+1 for that post AND the movie! Nice run and good teamwork. Valindra isn't real hard, but it requires practice and a good team which knows what to do. Calm down, relax and do the job :-)

I would like some advice about how to fight Valindra. I'm playing a Guardian Fighter. I'm a little unsure how best to help the party. I'm aware that the speed boost power is handy for the pots but other than that what should I be doing? You know powers and tactics. I would appreciate some advice from the community at large. Thank you.

Hi, the best advice for you from the community is to roll another class, most likely a CW or a GWF.

Trolling is not nice eton, i do 4-5 VT runs daily on a 95%ish success rate as a GF.

On the topic, Knight chall val all the time, as its hard taunt you will have the agro of her 100% uptime and hands and other val attacks only do 50% damage (or less if you have the mark feated) to party, use KC set to buff the party dps, use lunging strike to teleport to the casquets (i can get 2-3 casquets per round and 4 in the last phase without problems) and into the fray because its cool to do it and moar buff! or a DPS heavy encounter like bull, as you have her hard taunted you can dictate almost always where she stands, so try to make her stay in the close to the middle so the rest of the party has the hands and the casquets closer, if the party DPS is optimal in 3rd phase 1 round of casquets and dps hher to oblivion in less than 60 seconds, if is not, you shine in third phase, during the last air strikes phase change powers to enforced threat iron warrior and keep the lunging, after the first round of casquets get the agro of the wights (always 1-2 as its almost impossible to get to all of the casquets) and separate them a little from val, letting the rest of the party finish the job, when 2nd wave of casquets explode (usually a lot of wights outthere now) use villians menace to gather them, threatening rush and enforced threat to get all the agro and try (its not easy) to move them a little arround, just lo leave enough space for the party to target val.

If YOUR DPS is nice enough do also a little damage with the lungs... but well, unless you're 18k+ you can avoid that part and it wouldnt change anything.

I don't think that eton is trolling as such - while with enough GS almost any combination of classes can do dungeons, it is definitely easier, particularly at non-absurd GS ratings, for certain classes especially CW (and to an lesser extent GWF).

That does not mean he must reroll on another toon right? :D

Also, MMOs are changing enviroments... maybe in a few months we will see 5xGF parties!! like in the brief period when into the fray stacked!

Nah, no need to re-roll things do change (to a certain extent), and there are some buffs coming the GF's way.

But for GFs interested in PvE primarily, I think they will have to wait a very long time to see a 'GF LF 4 GF' posts during Dungeon Delves baring another hiccup in coding as you mentioned.
