Ranged attacks are supposed to crit with an additional 10% crit severity. When I log in, my severity is at normal (75%) when I'm in ranged stance. In order for me to get Black Arrow to kick in, I have to swap to melee and back into ranged stance. I know it's a minor thing, but I would love to see this fixed. ty
This is a known issue and has been for as long as anyone I've talked to can remember. I don't see it getting fixed anytime soon.
Try putting a Vorpal enchant into your weapon enchant slot. That also does absolutely nothing to the value shown on your character sheet.
The only thing that seems to affect this number is using the Dancing Blade companion and or doing the stance dance you spoke of to add the 10% from BA.
The best part about it is that you really don't know what the real crit severity % is that is being applied to your critical hits as the break down is not in the combat log (at least not the one you can see).
Plus it's not a straight percentage increase of your critical damage, as the tooltip would seem to indicate. There seems to be a range to the increase. For instance, if you have 75% CS, and you critically hit something for 100, logic would dictate that 75% CS would translate the final number into 100 + (100 * .75) = 175. This however is absolutely not how it works.
It doesn't even work off the DnD 4 rules for crit.
More or less, yeah it's a bug, no it's probably not getting fixed, and for all you know the bug is not just a display issue, it could be affecting your dps, but because of the "magic" calculation that's being obfuscated from us you will never know for sure.
Sorry to sound so negative, but "low hanging fruit" issues like this that should be quick fixes that are still outstanding after so much time is a bit disappointing. That and I just hit a major bug last night that cost me about 600K in AD so I'm still a little pissed about something unrelated to this.
I don't see a lot of resolution come from posting bugs here. I however do see bug resolution come from creating support tickets. There's most likely a work order type system they have in place where if enough of the same issues come in they get forwarded on to the development team, flagged as backlog items and eventually fixed. I know a few other hunters that have put in tickets for this already. Still haven't seen a fix though, but it's worth a shot, squeaky wheel getting the grease and all...
what i mean is, it switched from 75% and shows to 85% severity when i swap from melee and back to ranged,
Yes, it's a bug. What you don't know is if it really is just the tooltip being wrong or if you really only get the mystical crit severity increase of 75% if you don't switch to melee first, or whether you really are getting the 85% all the time that you should be getting. Let that sink into the old noggin for a bit.
