So with the advent of the sale of companions starting today; If I were to consider getting one of them, which would you recommend for me?
I am currently using my common healer. Should I move to a uncommon or rare healer, or go for a different type altogether?
In dungeons you don't want a regular companion moving around pulling extra adds you didn't want to fight etc. Even ones that stick close don't dodge the red and will die quickly. The stone can't die, can't pull aggro, and just adds to your stats.

Will keep that in mind.
Any other suggestions out there?

Are you going to buy them on the basis of their active bonus? The stone is your best option for use in combat.

There won't be any other suggestions for an endgame main companion other than an augment one.
Of the augments, only the Ioun Stone of Allure is ridiculously cheap at the moment due to a Zen Shop sale and there are no compelling arguments that can overcome that price difference for other augment companions.
You can look through them all and find the active bonus you like the best, but an augment is the only one you need at level 60. I didn,t want to buy anymore Zen, but at $6, I'm buying the stone for my GWF. My CWs stone adds about 2-3K to my gear score.
I like em all for solo.. Cleric early and wizard later for stun. I don't zen shop em. Stones don't die is the plus I see and don't pull stuff. Gonna have to look at one.

Summoned companions of any kind, including augments, never add to Gear Score, except perhaps from the new/Shadowmantle Max HP of augments (untested).
Gear Score IS affected by any stat rating or HP Active Buffs from Active Slot companions though since those count as "Features" like Boons.
I guess I said it wrong. The stone gives me 2-3K on top of my GS.
