Devs - would you consider this for obtaining Blue Marks

@Devs

I was wondering if you all would consider the following as alternative method of obtaining Blue Marks (of Stability, Power, and Union). I was wondering if a vendor could be placed somewhere in Protector's Enclave (Somewhere in in the Sage Shop perhaps?), that would allow a character to trade, say 5 Greater Marks (purple) for one Blue Mark?

For those such as myself (I solo my level 60 DC for the most part) participating in an Epic dungeon run isn't really an option. So needless to say, looting the skill nodes in said dungeons isn't really an option. I do enjoy the dailys that have come with module 2 and have collected quite a few Greater Marks even though I currently have only the starting artifact at this time.

I do want to add that I have had ONE Blue Mark of Stability drop from a node during a professions event but that has been the only time I've seen that. So thank you Devs for that. However, I really would like to have a way to obtain the Blue Marks as I most likely will not be able to acquire many in the current manner I play the game. I ask this because I read in the forums nearly everyday, that many people play this game solo and we are all in the same boat.

Final point- I am aware that there are a few channels that are very friendly to helping people out. I think that is absolutely awesome! BUT if I want to play solo then that is my choice. I really enjoy this game but I also don't want to hit a wall just because I choose not to do Epic dungeons. :D

Personally, I think the marks, reagents, and refinement stones should be available from the seal vendors...

    No worries.

The drop rate from dungeon bosses/skill nodes is ultra-low. You're no losing anything. I probably saw 3 boss blue mark drops and 2 from skill nodes in what must be 50+ dungeon runs. Boss drops are also rolled for so yeah.

Blue marks are just badly designed, that's all.

mod note: making wild accusations about game changes being financially related is considered the same as flaming especially since you have zero proof that this is why certain things have changed. it is unproductive assumptions and will not be tolerated.

do not reply to this mod note. instead, send us a PM to discuss it. thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to respond pers3phone :)

Lol, all I can do is smh. I'm not asking that the Blue Marks (of anything) drop constantly but I think it's a significant bottleneck/wall. I want to keep playing this game and I want to be able to EARN (read play) my way forward in progression. This includes being able to farm the Blue Marks needed to upgrade.

Good idea but I personally think this will never happen. However you posted an idea in another thread that I like:
Well, I could see a jeweler profession being able to craft rings, necklaces, and several of the refinement gems.

Another idea would be to create an archaeology profession that "tracks down" various items of use - like reagents, marks, etc.

Related to archaeology above, what if there was a relic hunter in PE who gave out daily missions to seek out specific items of value, which they then buy off you for a selection of reagents, refinement stones, marks, etc.

http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?557551-Fix-for-Refinement-Profession&p=6811171&viewfull=1#post6811171 <- link to thread in question (on the gameplay forum)

Thank you for taking the time to answer bioshrike. We all need to let the Devs know that this is a significant issue, one that may stop players from playing this game. (And for some, that equates to not spending their money on it)

Why in earth would you make 5x greater tradeble for 1x blue? Indespitely what the game economy does, this proposal is ofcourse absolutely crazy.

If there is something which needs to be changed, it's the requirement for upgrading the artifacts, change the blue ones for the greater and the same way around. Or change the rewards for the daily dungeon.

But proposing to trade an in theory better item for less in theory worse item, sorry, that's just an idea .... which should't be allowed to survive long, neither to be discussed lol!

    Sorry!

Blue marks are already flowing in steadily. AH prices are dropping quickly and that's quite an index of general availability. Prices are halved compared to last week.

Salvaging gear should really give you different marks

Honestly, the Dread Ring daily dungeon should ideally be granting Blue marks and the purple marks should be coming from nodes in Epic Dungeons or from boss drops.
It is rather strange to have green marks fairly common in nodes, purple marks easily from daily dungeons and blue marks excedingly rare when Purple by definition should be less common than Blue

Sharandar has been good to me when it comes to Blues, and I've gotten one from Dread Ring.

But as more people hit 60, new players, veterans with new toons, the supply will start to rise as more people obtain them. Its a slow process. Economically, its sound.

For people like the OP, who want to earn everything, it encourages playing until you obtain what you need, for those that want the quick fix, hit up the AH.
Once you do that get that elusive Blue Mark, you may break out into the MC Hammer 'You Can't Touch This' dance in your living room with your dog giving you the "what in the blue he** are you doing" look. Not that I did this or anything...

That is good to hear ryugarius. However asking the player base to DEPEND on the AH for what all intents and purposes is mid level items just creates frustration and a bottleneck. And I suspect that steadily may mean something slightly different to you and me. ;-)

I agree nwnghost that the set up is rather odd. And while I would PREFER that the Greater marks DON'T drop in Epic dungeons (seeing as I don't run them) it would be more understandable. Honestly though, I think that it is more about "tweaking" the availability of all Marks that has people concerned.

I didn't think about that option. It has possibilities. Thanks for mentioning it. :)

I think it's a good thing for the game that the blue marks are so rare and valuable. It means you can get very valuable items from opening skill nodes while doing dailies in Sharandar, Dread Ring etc. Before mod 2 the skill nodes would always give you items of very low value. Now it's more exciting to open the skill nodes.

To me, it means "i'm not making profits anymore since prices keep going down too **** fast" :P
